Now Justice Wigneswaran takes over the baton for a separate Tamil Homeland

Now that Jusice Wigneswaran who ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-did not want this positionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and who was ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-forced into this positionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ under ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-so much pressureƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ as the TNAƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s common candidate for the post of Chief Minister we are forced to view him as joining the list of others attempting to seek the goal of separatism clearly articulated in their party Constitution and election manifestos. Whatever Justice Wigneswaran may say in interviews, speeches and statements he cannot change the TNA manifesto in which the goal is a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-separate Tamil HomelandƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-self-determination for TamilsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” none of these slogans remotely equates to signal any desire for peaceful coexistence with the others or even the other Tamils of lesser castes and creed except to create a Tamil Only landmass. No one can fault the rest of the country for viewing them with distrust because no country and no citizen will tolerate any political party or members attempting to slice out a piece of the sovereign nation simply because they come up with a bogus homeland theory and a set of grievances which are NOT exclusive to Tamils alone. So if by its very actions TNA is mistrusted for ulterior motives the country has every ground to do so and Justice Wigneswaran needs to concoct a better argument to whitewash the TNA.

In an interview with Ada Derana on 17 July 2013, Justice Wigneswaran says that the TNA were silent throughout the LTTE reign because of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-voice of violenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ though he does not admit that TNA openly said that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Tamils were represented by the LTTEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. Justice Wigneswaran is very correct when he says that the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-problemƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ emerged far before Prabakaran was even born but he conveniently omits to give the history of that separatist quest. Imported Christian Chelvanayagam started by creating the ITAK (name stands for separatism) in 1949 which was artfully disguised as the Federal Party in as suave maneuver to hide the separatist agenda behind the federal slogan.

Sinhala Only

Maybe Justice Wigneswaran can answer how at the departure of the British following independence, a 6.6million population country was able to run with less than 180,000 English educated people of ONLY Sinhala and Tamil elite, majority of whom had to convert to Christianity to obtain English education and who had automatic employment whereas the majority of the country knew only Sinhalese? Was it possible to educate 6.6m in English or get the 180,000 to learn Sinhala because the administration of the country had to be run and the administration could not be run in English. The Sinhala-Only issue has been hijacked by the Tamils because it was really a case of non-English speaking majority against a handful of English speaking people who did not want to share what they were enjoying and to this list the guilty are both the elite Tamil and the elite Sinhalese. Sinhala Only did not mean Tamil was prohibited from being spoken. By 1956 Tamils constituted 50% of the clerical personnel of the railway, postal and customs services, 60% of all doctors, engineers and lawyers, and 40% of other labor forces.

Justice Wigneswaran speaks about the need for trust but why has he omitted reference to the fact that Tamils themselves broke or severed the trust which evolved since 1923 to the 1931 demand for 50:50 representation when in reality there were more imported Tamil plantation workers than Tamils in Sri Lanka? What Justice Wigneswaran also cannot hide is the Vaddukodai Resolution which called for Tamil youth to take up arms.

Moreover, the agitations that the Tamil elite made were more against the Prevention of Social Disabilities Act brought in 1957 because it meant that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low casteƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Tamils could also attend schools and kovils hereto denied to them. Justice Wigneswaran, the very people who you now represent wrote continuous petitions to the UK Government pleading to cancel the seating directive! Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan even requested the Colonial Office in London to encode caste into legislative enactments.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  How about in the refugee camps where high caste Tamils refused to share toilet facilities with the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low castesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and authorities had a time handling related issues.

These are the same people who are today telling us they want to have a separate land to rule their own and Justice Wigneswaran is echoing these same sentiments! What these elite Tamils feared was that once these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low castesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ obtained education they would pose a challenge to their status quo and the best strategy to give them the upper hand was to claim to champion a cause brought about by a rift between the Sinhalese and Tamils ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” this would hide the divisions amongst their own but also ensure the upper hand remained with the same elite who launched satyagrahas, tarring of Sinhala letters on vehicle registration numbers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  All these took place ONLY in 1957 and not in 1956. If Sinhala Only was being objected then the agitations should have begun in 1956 but no sooner the Social Disabilities Act was introduced in 1957 only the elite began to agitate. Sinhala Only was only a ruse but Bandaranaike was gullible to ChelvanayagamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s pact which had nothing to do with language issue but everything to do with devolving regional powers so that the elite could continue to rule over the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low castesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

Justice Wigneswaran may also like to answer at which time in governance was administration run in the Tamil language for Tamils to feel that making Sinhala Only denied them a right. With over 300,000 Tamils living in Canada are their rights to function in Tamil also denied? How many knew that in 1956 permission had to be sought to speak in Sinhala!

The Tamils must come clean that they did not want a reversal to what they had been unfairly enjoying for 200 years therefore it worked well to create an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ethnic-discriminationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-language-discriminationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ grievance created by not those who were aggrieved but by English educated Tamils who did not speak Tamil at home! Justice Wigneswaran is it not true that ALL those demanding Tamil language rights were studying in English? From not functioning at all in Tamil the bogus ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-grievanceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ enabled the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-reasonable useƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in 1956 and thereafter Tamil gained official language status following the Indian intervention in 1987. Not a bad gain in a strategy of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ask a little now and ask more laterƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ by Chelvanayagam. The minorities continue to use this strategy as politicians are easy prey.

Standardization lies

Keeping to the same mantra Justice Wigneswaran also cites standardization as a grievance. Can he please explain why Tamil elites opposed equitable distribution to university admission? How wrong is it for anyone to oppose university admission to students from Batticoloa, Vanni and other less privileged areas ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Tamil elites opposed standardization in 1973 because ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low casteƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ students would also gain university education.

All that the Buddhists wanted at independence and especially through the Sinhala-Only bill was for Buddhists to reclaim their cultural and religious heritage that had been targeted for elimination. Have Buddhists significantly gained anything post-independence apart from an internationalized continuation of what they suffered from during colonial rule? Is there really a place given to the Temple, Tank and Paddy that characterized Buddhist rule of yonder years?

How united are the Tamils?

We continue to hear that Tamils wish to live amongst their own in their ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-own homelandƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ but we cannot but hesitate to ask exactly what happened in 1871 where Vellalas, dhobis, barber castes were attacking each other, or in 1923 when VellalarƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s were attacking the Paramba caste on a petty issue of hiring drummers for funerals, in 1929 when VellalaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s objected to the Government directive on ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-equal seatingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ because they did not want to share the same bench as the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low castesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ who by their law had to sit on the floor and this was how the low caste Tamil children had to sit when they finally gained admission to school because of a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-SinhalaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Prime Minister or in 1931 when the VellalaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s attacked the Pallar caste also for hiring drummers. If Vellala rule was that low castes could not hire drummers in the same year it is not difficult for people to understand how Tamils would have lived under their own people! Why did Tamils demand 50:50 representation when Tamils at independence were just 733,000 and Sinhalese population was 4.6million.

Justice Wigneswaran may also like to ask on what existing grievance did it necessitate for Tamils to demand a separate Tamil state from the British Empire when the British and NOT the Sinhalese were ruling Sri Lanka? Why did Tamils create an ethnic-based political party the All Ceylon Tamil Congress in 1944 if Tamils wanted to live in peaceful co-existence? Why did the Tamils refuse the British policy of one-man/one-vote system? More importantly if the Tamil-speaking communities can co-exist with the majority without making extremist demands why is it that ONLY the Jaffna Tamils demand special rights to live in peace and harmony? When Justice Wigneswaran joins the chorus of TNA asking claiming the armed forces are a nuisance and demanding that they go, we are simply shocked that a former Justice would treat with ridicule the magnanimous effort that sacrificed thousands of lives to save so many Tamil people who are today going about their affairs without fear and when Justice Wigneswaran from Colombo says the military is interfering he is completely off track because the body language of the people in the North does not say anything of what the nicely living Colombo Tamils are claiming to exist in the North.

Justice Wigneswaran as a very senior lawyer and Judge you may like to tell us with what logic you can argue that it is a human rights grievance for supposed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Sinhala OnlyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ to prevail but when ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Tamil OnlyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ was declared in 1990 by LTTE in a defacto area created by them with own post-offices, currency/notes, stamps, court houses etcƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ it met the approval of the Tamils?

Where Justice Wigneswaran attempts to show a bogus grievance scenario we can show with evidence how Tamils were discriminating their own! The best example is the manner they watched Tamil police officers on duty being gunned down.

So on what basis does Justice Wigneswaran argue on the need to build TRUST when all the while Tamils are either covertly or overtly attempting to separate and declare a Tamil Homeland? Are we to be foolish and buy the slogans that attempt to disguise these end objectives?

Justice Wigneswaran, if Tamils want to live in a land of their own when that land is across the Palk Strait where politicians are ever ready to garland their brethren why are Tamils fleeing to western hemispheres and not Tamil Nadu. Going to the West they have to lock up their Tamil language and learn French, Spanish, German etcƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.so is there no grievance about learning these languages and being denied the right to work in Tamil?

How would standardization have remotely affected Prabakaran who did not even study beyond O/L and neither did his other school dropouts to bemoan the issue of university entrance? Did the elite Tamils most of whom wanted to continue the rigid caste system of keeping Tamil low castes enslaved under the Tamil VellalaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s who objected to Tamils from Batticoloa and other areas gaining university admission. Come clean on these lies that are being spread unnecessarily to hide the truth.

Prabakan broke away from the caste by converting

The only way that most ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-low casteƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Tamils were able to revolt against the caste was through the gun and by converting which explains why many of the LTTE were only namesake Hindus whilst most had even changed their names. Count the suicide cadres both female and male to see how many would have been converted which facilitated their indoctrination to sacrifice their life. People of the Book are those thinking themselves martyrs for committing suicide.

So who does Justice Wigneswaran the TNA common candidate really represent?

We are certainly perplexed. It is not difficult to conclude that TNA does not represent ALL Tamils just as LTTE did not represent ALL Tamils though LTTE were All Tamil. In terms of numbers we need to realize that the society in which Tamils live, the worship of the high castes by the low castes still remains inspite of the massive numbers of new rich Tamil expats who have created a new social block outside of the rigid system that existed. These new rich are all the while looking for economic opportunities and even if they can manipulate political opportunities they are ever ready to join the bandwagon ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” yet the tussles amongst the Tamil Diaspora groups also reveal inner caste chaos though that is hidden from global lens more so because the West cannot understand how caste functions. Yet Tamil Nationalism cannot hide caste wars!

Therefore can Justice Wigneswaran tell us with the caste factor amongst them how can devolution provide a solution to this supposed divide because even Prabakaran used Tamils as his child soldiers and cadres but what can the TNA show to have done differently? When we are well aware that a Tamil Homeland exists in Tamil Nadu run by Tamils for Tamils why are there 11million of untouchables amongst the Tamils and Tamils live in poverty and suffer hunger and malnutrition?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚·ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-SinhalaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ state ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” how is it that no Tamil, Muslim child is denied education in any school be it national, international, semi-private etc?

Yet, do Tamils and Muslims not openly declare they do not sell to Sinhalese (Buddhists), they do not employ Sinhalese (Buddhists)

Justice Wigneswaran in the interview also bemoans the fact that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-people from outside are going to be brought inƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-outside people are going to take landƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” going by the same argument Justice Wigneswaran may like to count the number of Tamils who have bought land outside their supposed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-homelandƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and who reside amongst the Sinhalese in their indigenous land. Should the Sinhalese then ask these Tamils to vacate?

Justice Wigneswaran brings up Singapore to showcase a perfect nation that treats minorities ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” well he is just absolutely wrong. Lee Kwan did not tolerate political dissent particularly ethno-political dissent ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Is that not what TNA is all about? Public debates on ethnic rights are banned in Singapore, restrictions prevails on open discussions about race and religion, ethnic minorities cannot concentrate in residential areas of their choice, apartments are allocated on the basis of ethnic ratios so that the countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ethnic majority remains the majority in all residential areas and to prevent formation of ethnic enclaves ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” you do not see ONLY Tamil apartments like in Colombo or even ONLY Tamil areas and ONLY Muslim areas. The best example that Singapore adopts is that selling to OTHER ethnic groups is PROHIBITED. This is what Justice Wigneswaran does not want to do in the North but he does not object to Tamils buying land and residence in Sinhala areas.

In August 2010, the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance in Singapore confirmed that

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚·ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Malays are NOT allowed to join some sections of the armed forces,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚·ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Job advertisements specifically say ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Mandarin-speakingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ even for jobs that do not require it ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” just like the foreign NGOs in Sri Lanka specifically use conversant in Tamil knowing that Sinhalese would not qualify.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚·ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Singapore Government is encouraging influx of Chinese nationals to counter the growth of Malay Singaporeans.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚·ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  JehovahƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Witnesses are banned in Singapore and members if found are imprisoned. Sri Lanka has yet to address this.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚·ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Special Rapporteur confirms that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Malay individuals continue to be underrepresented in senior positions of the armed forces, the police and intelligence services as well as in the judiciaryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

Since Justice Wigneswaran praises Singapore system, Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s politicians may adopt similar policies for then Sri Lanka would certainly go the way Singapore is developing MINUS ethnic-politics of the nature that exists now hampering all development and breaking all peace.

The credibility factor

Justice C.V. Wigneswaran lighting the oil lamp~at Thanthai Chelvanayagam Memorial Lecture-April 2013

When anyone garlands a picture of Prabakaran no one can blame us for wondering if the person harbors the same sadist terrorist tendencies that warrant him to worship a man responsible for killing thousands and denying fundamental right of education to the scores of children he trained as child soldiers. Similarly, no one can blame us for harboring resentment against the TNA for enough of evidence suffices to prove its connection to the LTTE so when Justice Wigneswaran garlands the picture of Chelvanayagam the imported Christian the architect behind the separatist agenda from whom LTTE borrowed to justify its terror, no one should blame us for the mistrust and doubt arisen following a former Supreme Court judge joining a band of separatists claiming to be fighting for democratic rights. Doubts are further heightened by the fact that in 2011 Justice Wigneswaran prior to joining the TNA as its common candidate held the view that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-I do not see any possible solution to the ethnic conflict immediately, unless extraneous pressure, inland or foreign, compels the powers that be to relent.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ which simply says heƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s the best man for the TNA job given that Justice Wigneswaran holds that other than ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-a handful of persons like Dr. Wickramabahu Karunaratne, Mr. Weliamuna and a few others the majority of Sinhala masses do not want a solutionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

In this same interview in 2011, when asked what exactly the Tamils want, Justice Wigneswaran says that the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Tamil-speaking people want to look after their affairs themselves. In legal terminology that is the right of self-determination. They want to be governed in the North and East in their language. They want to go back to the land of their forefathers from temporary living quarters provided by whomsoever. They want their security, law and order to be in the hands of their siblings and progeny not in the hands of outsidersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” why then Justice, are Tamils living more amongst the Sinhalese or using whatever slogan they can come up with to live overseas amongst ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-outsidersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚?

Justice Wigneswaran also says ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-they want their lands and properties to be administered by themselves; not by outsidersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. They want to elect their own representatives without being dictated to by outside agencies, military power or financial power or administrative power. They need to preserve their language, culture, religions and their way of life without outsiders building statues and vihares in their midst with military might. They need to be freed from mercenaries amongst their midst who plunder and rob at the instigation of outside agenciesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ How are close to 1million Tamils preserving their language and culture functioning in a foreign language in Canada, France and Germany?

When Justice Wigneswaran lights a lamp at the Memorial of Chelvanayagam and says ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-My suggestion is that a federal constitution is the best for our countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Federalism is what the non-violent Chelvanayagam askedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ we know where he and TNA is going.

The most alarming part of the interview which fits the puzzle in toto is when Justice Wigneswaran says ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Of course the Indo-Lanka Accord could be a starting pointƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” We would like to have archaeological and historical proof that a separate Tamil civilization existed in the North to remotely consider a separate identity given that annually more Tamils either attempt to go overseas or move residence to live amongst the Sinhalese.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If the Judiciary is to function as an independent body the laws need to ensure that no judge upon retirement takes up politics as a profession because this is likely to create further tensions than providing solutions because they would vye for this post-retirement job vacancy.

More than anything we are very hurt that Justice Wigneswaran choses to speak of the Sri Lankan armed forces as being a nuisance and interference when they lost life and limb to bring peace to us from LTTE terror ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” no one has any right to belittle that achievement.

Most of all this sorry excuse for a human being has failed to explain how him being a disadvantaged person from a disadvantaged community managed to get education in Royal College and was able to rise up to the position of a Supreme Court Judge in a Sinhala dominated administration. He is asking the Sinhala people to trust the TNA and allow for that is entailed in 13th Amendment to be handed over a silver platter. The problem the Sinhalese face is how to trust those who are good at defecating from both ends!

  4. Ancient Sinhalaya Says:

Claim to a separate country? On what grounds? Ancient kingdoms of theirs? We can see historic buildings of these ‘kingdoms’ everywhere in the north and east of the country. There were no Tamil kingdoms in Sri Lanka ever. Where are the evidence? Where is your Anuradhapura? Where is your Polonnaruwa?

Tamils live in live in all over the world happily speaking those countries’ languages, claiming they are German, Norwegians, etc. etc. But in Sri Lanka it is different. They don’t want to speak Sinhalese. Don’t want to say Sri Lankans. Sinhalese, in their own country, not suppoed to live in the north or the east. Not supposed to live in Colombo.

Simply put, Sri Lanka is ‘easy meat’. Sinhalese are too tolerant. Why not ask for more and more! Become doctors, engineers, etc. etc. with free education, free med. Not even the richest country on the planet do not provide these free. But poor Mother Lanka do. And paying back? No matter you are home or away, ask for a separate country! Ungrateful! Shameful!

  5. S de Silva Says:

We Sinhalese are the bloody fools! Thank you Shenali for pointing that out!

  6. NAK Says:

It is itme we stop beating around the bush and face the real problem. Bashing TNA or their puppets will not help us. Atleast now we must realise that TNA themselves are puppets and who holds the strings.
It is the USA,UK,and India that pulls the strings and TNA only moves according to that.
We need to confront these monsters that are trying to destroy us little by little and that has to be done swiftly in a way that monsters wouldn’t know what hit them.
We may have to face some after effects, mainly in the form of economic and we have faced economic hardships before. More importantly some economic hardships now will be thousand times better than borderfightings and water quarells which are the ultimate out come.

  7. Lorenzo Says:

    I partly agree with NAK.

NO. We should NOT confront in any way the puppet masters. That will be disaster. Our REAL enemy has always been TAMIL NATIONALISTS. And we CAN defeat them.

A puppet master without puppets is nothing!!!

We have to get rid of the puppets, the strings and PUPPET BREEDING GROUNDS.

Puppet masters will NEVER give up but we can handle their challenges, not them.

    e.g.

    Take the function

    Y = (x-1)^2.(X^2+10)

(x^2+10) will ALWAYS be positive for ANY normal number.
We CANNOT turn that to zero or negative.

BUT if x=1, the (x-1) becomes ZERO and the ENTIRE thing becomes ZERO!!

This is what we should do.

WHACK the clowns we can whack. Finding a NEW RELIABLE puppet is no easy task even for Endia, USA, EU. Finding them FAST is absolutely not possible.

If Sambandan can be eliminated, that solves MANY problems. A few military trained patriots should shoulder this national and noble task on their own.

Thanks Shenali……….It took sometime for our readers/writers to come to grip with this person named…WIGNESWARAN. A retired judge of some sorts……..After getting FREE education in our prestiges college, & earning a decent salary in the past, NOW he wants to be a member TAMIL NADU party of the North.

Being such an eduated person should relaise, ACTING AGAINST the Sovereign Country & attempts to devide or seperate is a CRIME.

Our own constitution Amendment 6, clearly spells it out. SO why a person with a legal mind, dabble in separetism or Anti-Lanka statements. If you continue to do so, our Govt. can easily put you in JAIL for disturbing the highy WON PEACE. If you know Sinhalese, they rarely forget, even majority of them are BUDDHISTS. So there a warning to your comments & dbbling with Anti-Lanka activities.

I wish other patriots of Lanka ANSWER THIS PERSON, who still beleives he is a judge. No more, you are just an ordinary TAMIL, and have to behave in a responsible manner, when you address SINHALESE.

Thank you Shenali………Its always good to hear from you…Another expat from Canada~ J

Australian PM Kevin Rudd has stated that Australia will NOT accept any more boat people, i.e. refugees. Australia is a huge country, and yet their PM says NO to refugees.
Why is tiny Sri Lanka (25,000 sq. miles as opposed to 3.1 MILLION sq. miles in Australia) allowing so many Tamil illegal migrants to stay on here ? My concern is that these poor people become the vote base for SEPARATIST TAMIL LEADERS who have no loyalty at all to Lanka, in spite of getting they pay, perks & pensions from this country, plus FREE education and health care.

So, we have no alternative but to at least reduce the vote base of Tamil political parties and send all these Tamil illegal migrants back to Tamil Nadu where they must be cared for by the local govt. there.

Also ACTIVATE the 6th Amendment and confiscate property plus jail terms for anyone advocating Separatism.

STOP the PC Elections NOW: Census 2012 Data Shows Massive ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION of Indian Tamils into Sri Lanka during LTTE control of the North & East in the last 30 years!

    By Ananda-USA
    July 18, 2013

The 2012 Census indicates NO REDUCTION in the Tamil Population of Sri Lanka, after allowing for the net natural population increase due to more births than deaths.

If 1.5 million Sri Lankan Tamils EMIGRATED, legally and illegally, to foreign countries, over the last 30 years, and many of them currently hold Sri Lankan passports, why is the EXPECTED REDUCTION in Sri Lankan Tamil population not reflected in the 2012 Census figures?

The only possible explanation is that during the Eelam War years about 1.6 MILLION Indian Tamils illegally entered Sri Lanka with the connivance of the LTTE and Tamil Nadu.

Were the 300,000 Tamils herded by the LTTE as a “human shield” actually some of the ILLEGAL Indian Tamil Immigrants brought into Sri Lanka who would be DEPORTED back to India if the SECRET of their ILLEGAL Immigration status was revealed? Were they WILLING participants in the human shield for that reason?

The article below by IRIN bemoans the difficulties faced by “war returnees” due to the lack of National ID cards, The reason why they don’t have Sri Lankan National ID cards may be because many of them are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who were never citizens of Sri Lanka, and NEVER HAD Sri Lankan National ID cards issued to them.

This should be INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY by the Government of Sri Lanka to IDENTIFY and DEPORT these 1.6 Million ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS from Sri Lanka, as soon as possible! No National ID cards should be issued until the legal citizenship status is established through detailed background investigations.

Now it becomes clear why the TNA, the Tamil Nadu Politicians, and the Government of India are in SUCH A HURRY to hold Provincial Councils Elections and install the TNA in the Provincial Government, and Devolve Police and Land powers to them.

If the TNA is endowed with Police & Land Powers, they can easily FALSIFY REGISTRATION RECORDS, issue documents certifying Sri Lankan citizenship to these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, and COVER UP the MASSIVE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION that has taken place!

If this MASSIVE Immigration SCAM is allowed to take effect, the DEMOGRAPHICS of Sri Lanka would change INSTANTLY to favor the Tamil Community, with the induction of 1.6 MILLION new citizens!

Until this ISSUE IS RESOLVED, NO PC ELECTIONS should be held, and NO POWER should be DEVOLVED to these CROOKS! DO NOT ISSUE PERMITS to Illegal Immigrants that allow them to to vote in Provincial or National Elections; that will give them another official document to buttress their claim to citizenship.

There is NO ISSUE OF GREATER IMPORTANCE to Sri Lanka’s National Security than the protection of the legal status of native Sri Lankans by keeping illegal immigrants out of Sri Lanka.

STOP THE PC ELECTIONS … NOW!

    ……………
No ID, no security, the dilemma of Sri Lanka’s returnees

    ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

July 17 (IRIN) COLOMBO- Close to 100,000 returnees in Sri Lanka’s north lack national identity cards (NICs), more than four years after the end of the country.s decades-long civil war.

“Many people cannot resume their lives as NICs are the passport to accessing multiple services and were made mandatory for voting in 2006,” Suresh Premachandran, a member of parliament (MP) with the Tamil National Alliance, one of the largest national parties representing minority Tamils from the north, told IRIN.

According to the United Nations, more than 460,000 displaced persons have returned to Northern Province – which is home to more than 1 million inhabitants – since government forces declared victory over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who had been fighting for an independent Tamil homeland since 1983.

In Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts alone, an estimated quarter of the districts’ 200,000-plus inhabitants are without national IDs.

Without such documentation, many residents struggle to access public services such as health and education, and well as government assistance programmes.

They also face the risk of questioning and delays by police and security officials.

    Not a priority

Under the law, NICs are compulsory for all Sri Lankans 16 years or older, and authorities may detain suspicious individuals who fail to show any form of legal identification – a legacy of the war.

“Without an NIC, you are always at risk,” said Shereen Xavier, a north-based lawyer and executive director of the Home for Human Rights (HHR). “Without it, the impediments can be many.”

Even to enter many government buildings, one must produce an NIC, people complain.

But moving ahead on this issue is proving a challenge.

Despite the identity cards’ importance, the government has yet to prioritize the issue, with much of its effort focused instead on large-scale infrastructure and development projects in the north.

Many returnees do not have the required documentation to apply for an NIC, and with no local offices for issuing NICs, applications can take several months to process.

“The processing of papers can prove time-consuming,” Shanthi Sachithanandan, chairperson of Viluthu, an organization promoting good governance in the north, explained.

    Temporary IDs

After the war, the government was keen to have its voter lists updated.

When these lists were updated ahead of presidential and local polls in 2010 and 2012, temporary IDs were issued to over 40,000 people to allow them to vote, a process that continues today.

At that time, around 90,000 people from the north failed to indicate their NIC number, Deputy Elections Commissioner M.M. Mohammad confirmed.

“Temporary IDs were issued to many, especially to facilitate their participation in the presidential and local government elections that were held,” he said.

But many returnees say such IDs are looked down upon. Those holding temporary ID have difficulty accessing government services and are sometimes treated with suspicion by officials, they say.

Now, with the first provincial council election in Sri Lanka’s former war zone scheduled for September, returnees and politicians alike are again urging the government to improve the issuing of NICs.

“The government has started issuing temporary IDs, which is a time-consuming process. People have to contact the local government officials and process papers, which is not easy for returnees,” MP Premachandran said.

But according to the department responsible for issuing NICs, given the amount of time and documentation it takes to process such applications outside Colombo – and specifically in the former war zone – temporary IDs may still be the best option available at this point.

“This is the best solution to the present problem,” maintained M.S. Sarath Kumara, commissioner general of the registration of persons, noting that temporary IDs issued to facilitate voting could also prove useful to people without any other form of identification.

“A temporary ID is a practical idea, and it can be revalidated through reapplication,” agreed Rohana Hettiarachchi, executive director of People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections, an election monitoring body that has been helping eligible voters to obtain national identity cards through a mobile clinic effort.

But for those returnees without an NIC, still struggling to establish some semblance of normalcy in their lives after years of conflict and displacement, the idea of anything temporary offers little solace.

“A temporary ID is useful for those who wish to cast their vote at the forthcoming northern provincial election. [However,] for us former IDPs [internally displaced persons], returning home after being displaced for a decade, there are much bigger issues than getting involved in a political battle,” explained Muttuvel Kadirmani, a 46-year-old father of three from Mullaitivu. He urged the government to issue NICs instead of temporary forms of identification.

“It will be useful in every aspect of life and provide us with a sense of security,” he said.

Ex-justice Wigneswaran is India’s choice. His views are more extremist than Chelvanayakam’s, the Malaysian Tamil who migrated to Sri Lanka as I think the Malaysian Govt did not tolerate any separatist activities. He may support the distortion of the history of the Sinhala Civilisations in the North. He may hang on to the infamous Thesavalama law introduced by the Portugues/Dutch/British colonial powers to retain the Tamil labourers brought from India to work on plantations. He may consider the Sri Lankan security forces as “outsiders”, when in fact they are the ones who liberated the entire nation including Tamil majority areas like Jaffna, Colombo, Batticaloa etc. He is not the right person to be the Chief Minister, if the TNA wins, especially when politicians like Mangala S, Ranil W. etc in the South are misleading the World community. Sri Lanka has no choice but get closer to China, Pakistan and Russia for protection of its sovereignity, which had lasted for over 2500 years. Unfortunately India is now being manipulated by Tamilnadu and the Western powers and not in a position to act against their demands.

I do not know whether to laugh or cry when reading about demands and hopes that the 13A be abolished or that land and police powers be excised from it, when our Great Betrayer has already decreed that Northern elections should be held under the 13A as it stands?

Why cannot we understand the simple truth that the Northern elections are underway with even a CM already chosen by the TNA who has already declared his avowed intentions regarding the Tamil Homeland and of representing ‘his suffering people’?

How on earth can we close our eyes to the fact that our Great Betrayer – the Alzheimer Man (or woman…) who shakes rattles and rolls at the mere mention of India – has affirmed and confirmed that the 13A and its provisions will hold sway ‘in toto’ for the Northern Provincial Council?

Are not all these comments about the 13A’s abolition or restrictions just an exercise of holding fast an imaginary stable gate and contemplating a shadow horse while the animal concerned has bolted and is out there at large and even rearing to kick our backsides?

  19. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

One must look at this war in the broader picture. For long it was understood that the war simply included the Tamil Tigers and Colombo. Now in retrospect it is anything but that. During the war India actively supported the Tamil Tigers in at least two ways. First through RAW her secret service agency that trained squadrons of Tamil Tigers in many Indian states, Secondly Tamil Nadu actively played host to the Tamil Tigers each and every time they attacked and sought the shelter of that Indian state.
While India was engaged in a proxy war with Colombo using the Tamil Tigers, both Pakistan and China were active in supporting Colombo against the Indian proxy war, or in other words China and Pakistan engaged in their own proxy war with India through Colombo, making this war a regional issue where all the major powers of the region were involved. Strangely through the 30 odd years this pivotal civil war hardly made any news across the globe thereby enabling all the players (India, Pakistan, China, Colombo, Tamil Tigers) to do as they pleased.
With victory the war has now shifted gears. Going from a military confrontation to a diplomatic standoff. India is adamant that the 13th amendment is included in the new Constitution. But why? The whole reason India got involved was to eventually get an unfettered access to the Indian Ocean. Had the Tamil tigers won Eelam, New Delhi would only had to wait till she places her own puppet leaders in that nation and get access to the port of Trincomalee and full access to the Mannar basin. With a stroke New Delhi would have cut Sri Lanka’s power in half and gained power in the process.
That method failed so now New Delhi is using the diplomatic channel to get what she did not achieve through a war. It is also noteworthy to point that the Tamil National Alliance’s manifesto or their main goal is to form a separate Tamil homeland. incidentally they are in constant contact with New Delhi and Chennai on all domestic issues. Again all the major powers are involved. Through India’s influence the US slapped Sri Lanka with two human rights violations that only focused on the end of the war while conveniently leaving out the war itself.
The leaders of Tamil Nadu made sure India voted against Sri Lanka and again the other powers including Russia sided with Sri Lanka. This diplomatic approach to gain a separate land is more potent and Colombo has to act against the TNA if their goal is to form a separate land. Colombo has to also negate the 13th amendment and form a similar alliance with Russia as she has formed with China.
To date this war, the end of it and the new approach has evaded the world press making it that much more dangerous for as in the war the players are free from the world’s eye to do as they see fit. It is not surprising that New Delhi stays silent as Indian Tamil fishermen deliberately violate Sri Lankan waters and now the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is using this farce to reclaim the island of Katchacheevu

  20. mario_perera Says:

    Bernard,

Your analysis indeed embraces the wider picture and is of a very cogent nature. Your conclusion however is where my point of view begins.
You say: Colombo has to also negate the 13th amendment…
The stark truth however is that ‘Colombo’, the word naturally referring to our man at the top, has not only done nothing by way of the negation that you and a legion of other contributors to this forum have indicated, but has totally succumbed to Indian dictates and paved the way for the separatist forces with full knowledge of the eventual outcome.

The point therefore is not about what should have been done, but about the bog in which we are embedded. The Northern PC elections are round the corner (in just two months) and will be held in total compliance with the 13A. This means that the time for negation, dilution etc IS OVER. The separatist parties have already chosen their ‘NEW MOSES who has already identified himself with ‘his suffering people’. The die has been cast. Our man on the top has opted in favour of the 13A as it stands, paving the deviation from the UNITARY concept of the country to which the vast majority of the nation are totally committed, to the UNITED concept (the little to be taken now), which is the foundation stone for the SEPARATED Ealam to be asked for later.

The time to talk about what should be IS OVER. The Northern elections will be contested by the separatist forces AND WON under the aegis of the 13A. and then what? Then the show of the man at the top (and unfortunately of the entire Buddhist Singhalese Nation) IS OVER,

Under these circumstances talking about what should be or what should have been is totally irrelevant. Now the argument should focus on what to do to STOP this damned Northern PC election. Until then we are heading for separatism with our eyes wide open dreaming of what could have been and should have been.

The war 1983 to 2009 had a HUGE PLANNING WEAKNESS.

The war killed ONLY low caste Tamils who actually didn’t KNOW what the h*ll was happening. It left ALL the high caste and educated Tamilian racists in Jaffna and Colombo UNTOUCHED. They didn’t die. Now they are making a comeback.

The war should have concentrated on them MOSTLY.

War started from Vada-kundi (high caste educated Tamilians) but ended in Nanthikadal (low caste uneducated Tamilians).

This is the problem we face now. War should have been take back to Vada-kundi for a grand finish.

Now GOSL has lost the low caste Tamilians (because they did most) and anyway lost (as always) the high caste Tamilians too. Next time a more planned approach should be taken with HIGH casualties among those who promote separation living COMFORTABLY AWAY FROM WAR ZONES than just cannon fodder.

That is the war the country awaits today.

Separatism has always started from the side of the Tamil leaders, hasn’t it ? As early as the late 1920’s too. We wonder which other democracy would have tolerated this agony for so long. We wonder how any democracy in the west would have handled a similar matter. Imagine if some French folk wanted 1/3 of Britain and 2/3 coastline – how would Britain have handled the matter ?

  25. S.Gonsalkorale Says:

Britain did not run it democratically.

If there is 1 problem and the problem is solved, why so called Sinhala leaders still talking about a fictitious problem ?
Military solution worked and still working.
They why should they go back to democracy when it did not work for 60 years for tamils ?

RudraPUksas should wake up now before the Sinhala Buddhist power get rid of them.
They should stop offering the Puks to Endian rapists.

  26. Lorenzo Says:

“Imagine if some French folk wanted 1/3 of Britain and 2/3 coastline – how would Britain have handled the matter ?”

    1. Kill all the promoters of it.
    2. Arrest all the LOW LEVEL fighters and jail them.
    3. Militarise their area.
    4. SETTLE native English speakers.
    5. Have REGULAR riots every year to remind them who the boss is (There are riots EVERY YEAR including this year in Northern Ireland over PETTY issues like road changes of religious marches, a church is dirupted from tolling its bell, Protestants or Catholics buying a house in a “Protestant/Catholic area” and other BS excuses).

We should do 1 to 4 and let the Brits do number 5.

(Scotland is a different case because Scots have NO OTHER country in the world. Even the Irish have no other country in the world.)

  27. Max Silva Says:

Hey,whats this piece of crap “Justice Wingneswaran”?This guy is no longer a judge. It sounds like Justice Wigneswaran seeking justice.Better identify this guy as “FRAUD Wigneswaran”.Of course he is a fraud.A fraud to fool the innocent Tamils to start another war.In the event of war breaking out,in no time this fraudster will flt to Europe!

  28. Fran Diaz Says:

Mr Wigenswaran is running on the ticket of “Self Determination for Tamils” for the PC elections.

Here below is a definition of Self Determination from the internet. Self Determination is thwarted for low caste Tamils, (who form the vote bloc), ONLY through the Caste system of Tamils, and not through ANY govt. of Sri Lanka.

Starting with the Prevention of Social Disabilities Act of 1957 (Sri Lanka) which set free Northern Tamils from having to stand outside of class rooms when classes were in session, and not entering front area of Vellala dwellings, meeting places, any Hindu temples, use drum beating at funerals, forced to us separate cemeteries, etc. etc., Tamil low caste people have benefitted greatly from living in Sri Lanka, among others, as opposed to living in Tamil Nadu, where they are still classified as under Scheduled Castes, and thus still identified as of low caste origin. A Colombo Tamil friend of ours who fled to Tamil Nadu after the 1983 Riots, came back to Lanka a few years later, a mere skeleton of her former self. She told us that in TN she had to ‘declare her caste’ even before a glass of water was given.

Also, In Lanka Upcountry tea plucking Tamils have received land & homes (40 perches plus the attached dwelling place for each family). Also, those Tamils of the North who are dispossessed are being given land & dwellings, courtesy GoSL & some aid from the Indian govt. re housing. Reconstruction of Jaffna and the rest of the North & the East is happening, and jobs are being created.

Come to think of it, we ALL love Self Determination (SD), and this SD thing is for ALL of humanity, not just Tamil folk. Each and every one of us wants Self Determination & Dignity, not just Tamil people of the North & rest of Lanka !

As matters stand, Tamil people already enjoy all the rights given to others of Lanka. As matters stand, Tamils lead sector for sector in most areas. What we do not tolerate is SEPARATISM. As far as I know, both the TNA and its proxy ITAK both have Separatism built into their manifestos. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

    “SELF DETERMINATION –
    WHAT IS SELF-DETERMINATION?

Self determination is believing you can control your own destiny. Self-determination is a combination of attitudes and abilities that lead people to set goals for themselves, and to take the initiative to reach these goals. It is about being in charge, but is not necessarily the same thing as self-sufficiency or independence. It means making your own choices, learning to effectively solve problems, and taking control and responsibility for one’s life. Practicing self-determination also means one experiences the consequences of making choices.

    DEVELOPING SELF-DETERMINATION SKILLS

The development of self-determination skills is a process that begins in childhood and continues throughout one’s life. Self-determination is important for all people, but it is especially important, and often more difficult to learn, for young people with disabilities. Well-meaning individuals sometimes “protect” children with disabilities by making all their decisions for them. Also, sometimes people assume that people with disabilities can’t think for themselves.

Self-determination involves many attitudes and abilities including: self-awareness, assertiveness, creativity, and pride, and problem solving and self-advocacy skills. To take charge of your own life, you must be able to set goals, evaluate options, make choices and then work to achieve your goals”.

  29. Fran Diaz Says:

    Re the 13-A :

As far as the13-A is concerned, Police powers under PCs is not allowed. Basil Rajapakse has already clarified that the 13-A states that Police powers must be under Central govt. control.

  30. Fran Diaz Says:

We think this Self Determination stuff is like the monkey and the coconut trap. Readers must know the story of the monkey & the coconut trap. For those who do not know the story, here it is :

A Hunter wanted to trap a monkey. So he devised a trap. The trap was a coconut with a hole on top just big enough for a monkey to put its paw into the coconut. The Hunter carved out the inside of the coconut into large, hard pieces, big enough not to go through the hole on top. This coconut was placed on the branches of a tree and secured. Sure enough, the monkey came and put its paw into the coconut and grabbed a large piece of coconut inside the nut. When it tried to withdraw its paw which was grabbing the coconut, it could not, as the hole was too small for paw + coconut ! The monkey would not let go the coconut piece and therefore could not withdraw its paw and escape. Of course, the end of the story is that the Hunter successfully caught his monkey.

The coconut in the story is like the Self Determination, Eelam or Federal state trap, all set up for the Tamil voter !

  31. Indrajith Says:

Isn’t there anyway that we can defeat TNA in the NPC election? Like winning Douglas D instead!

  32. Ancient Sinhalaya Says:

We all wonder how did this guy become a justice in a land where discrimination, persecution are rife.
Stop calling these traitors this and that. wigneswaran. All these traitors local and abroad want to divide Sri Lanka
and give it on a plate to these uninvited guests. Their homeland is just across the waters. Greed knows no bounds!

Canadians rob Canada from the native Indians. French-speaking Quebec wanted independence from Canada.
But answer was firm NO. But hypocrites want to break up Sri Lanka for a few tamil votes. Disgraceful!
