September 10th 2013ƒ”š‚

The expectation that United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navanethem Pillay is about to make a damning statement about Sri Lanka does not come as a surprise at all.
Her entire visit which appears to be none but a De Trop aberration of the norms of her job description where she seems to think that her mandate is to role play as a corrective mechanism for an already smooth functioning Sovereign Nation, is a lop sided, idealogical and misconceived one designed to suit none other than the Tamil tiger sympathetic diaspora who have egged her on towards her worthless odyssey.
ƒ”š‚
One involving a circumspect groping towards non existent liabilities on Sri Lanka’s part towards human right’s violations.
While she has found nothing to make any claims of this nature stick she could do enough damage on the international stage to shake the minds of those who are gullible enough to believe that Sri Lanka is a totalitarian State ruled by dictators which seems to be what she is aiming at and in this respect her statement and its contents need to be deemed damnable rather than damning as the internal matters related to what the administration deems essential towards the smooth functioning of the nation is something she needs to respect rather than pass judgement over.

All in all she seems to have misconstrued many aspects of the Administrations’s direction while overlooking the positive aspects of the Nation towards progress almost deliberately while garnering pockets of responses from all the wrong sources towards her ill composed report rather than view, observe and report on theƒ”š‚ entire ƒ”š‚ Nation as a whole and how meticulously organized Sri Lanka is today as well the contentment of the majority of Sri Lankans who are eternally grateful for what the Administrations has done for the country. If this is not bias on her part there should be another definition for the term!!
ƒ”š‚
Perhaps based on the likelihood thatƒ”š‚ she would face a lot of criticism from those who motivated her to indulge in her visit with something to show for it, she has put together an adverse report on Sri Lanka.but what she has to offer now seems to beƒ”š‚ no more than circumspect speculation and finger pointing at what she percieves as loopholes in Government policy which really is none of her business.

If she tries to emphasize that Sri Lanka is the only country in the world that attempts to protect sovereigniity and enforce the constitution within the law, it is somewhat ludicrous on her part as she seems to be clutching at straws in a desperate attempt to sound credible where its her own credibility that appears to be at risk!

Anticipated news reports suggest somewhat accurately that she isƒ”š‚ preparing to highlight the possibility of reprisals and attacks on human rights defenders, journalists and communities she met up with during her recent visit to Sri Lanka, when she makes the opening statement at theƒ”š‚ next Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, tomorrow,ƒ”š‚  all of which in all probabilities need to be trashed on the basis that these appear toƒ”š‚ be her ownƒ”š‚ interpretations responding to the laments of many who have committed violations against the justice system, constitution and have indulged in criminalities that needed a punitive response despite some of them being in positions of authority or had the freedoms which were eventually abused towards their own ends and proven so through tangible evidence.
ƒ”š‚
Incredibly there are those who have set her up to drawing these conclusions but in most cases the so called victims have crossed the rule of law, violated the constitution or have attempted to ursurp the Government towards their own agendas in high handed as well as authoritative manner on the strength of misconstrued freedoms to which they had no entitlement.ƒ”š‚

It is common knowledge that there are are elements within Sri Lanka who are enemies of the State in political as well as private capacities with sufficient clout to manoeuvre their ungainly wayƒ”š‚ continuously plotting and planning to topple the Administration through the most uncrupulous as well as unconventional means at times and their portrayals of what may in their perception be actions for which the state iincarcerates them within justifiable means perhaps picked up by the ever watchful Naveen Pillai as fodder for her cannon to fire at the Government!.

Ironicallyƒ”š‚  and with a bit of eyewash involved, Pillay is likely to laud the Government for allowing her the opportunity of assessing the ongoing reconstruction and reconciliation processes post-war, and making references to the broader human rights situation in the country but it is more than likely it would point to loads of bias and misconstruence which would make her release more damnable rather than damning as what she entails as the human rights situation in the country seems to be of her own interpretation leaning mostly towards pro Tamil Tiger sympathies and those who continue to harbour them as well as her own interpretation of the National Constitution and the Justice Systemƒ”š‚  which she seems to want to confront on what many view as interference.

  1. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

I agree with the article that Nazi Pillay would write a damning report on Sri Lanka but lets put the UNHRC and the UN in its proper context. One must ask to date what power has the UN really demonstrated? Has the UN by itself won any wars? managed to maintain peace during a civil war? managed to even bring peace to a conflict. How about its record as body that loans money. No doubt large amounts of money have flowed from the UN to many nations, among them India which to this day is the largest recipient of UN, World bank and IMF funds and yet India’s economic and social problems continue to grow, which only proves the UN body does not have the clout even to monitor the money loaned as corrupt politicians pocket most of the funds and the many problems the money was allocated for has simply disappeared. Judging by these standards the UN is hardly any better than the League of Nations and worse the UN under the Security Council has contributed to the instability of the world by her misplaced support of wars. During the cold war the US and the USSR used the Security Council for their own purposes.
Now lets deal with the UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council). What human rights problems have they effectively solved since they came into power in 1948? What nations who have been accused of human rights suffered in any way? When China was annexing Tibet she destroyed 6 thousand Tibetan monasteries or the Tibetan repository of their culture. When China engaged in the Great Leap forward or the Cultural revolution millions died and the UN stood like an impotent power. Other such atrocities the UN has been totally ineffective include Cambodia under Pol Pot, Burma under 40 years of a brutal regime, North Korea today, Iran and her threats today, many African nations to many Muslim nations whose human rights violations are legendary and yet the UN body to the UNHRC have to date cannot take credit in solving any of these problems and all her accusations have had as much effect as a leaf falling during Autumn.

So why should Sri Lanka give a damn to this worthless piece of Western hypocrisy? China does not, India with her Caste system does not, the entire Muslim world does not, Africa to the Dictators of South America do not and hopefully Sri Lanka too will not give a pennies worth of attention to this trashy Western oriented Tamil Nazi led garbage called the UNHRC.

  2. S de Silva Says:

Thanks SK – we have to now gear ourselves up to openly and unconditionally reject her findings labelling them as that of a highly biased investigator, listing out the reasons already quoted by GLP and others indicating bias on her part.. I also think that Sri Lanka should go further by stating that we have no confidence in her and that she is unacceptable to Sri Lanka – S de Silva – London

  3. Sunil Mahattaya Says:

Not only unacceptable to Sri Lanka but the entire spectrum of UN representation around the world. There should be a global lobby to remove her from her post at the UNHRC on the strength of her shenanigans in Sri Lanka, alone. This should be done with a demand that she be sent to places like Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other places of human rights violations first and observe what transpires as her removal could be a spontaneous one if she does not acquit herself credibly which is bound to happen.

  4. Lorenzo Says:

    SM,

I don’t think that will WORK and it will HELP us. Because her replacement will also have to work according to what they are told to do.

This has NOTHING to do with human rights. It is CHINA they want to punish through SL. They want to create TE.

The best thing is to BUST Tamil interests in SL. DITCH 13 amendment. SETTLE Sinhalese and Muslims FORCIBLY in the north. Do what we did to the EAST in the NORTH with new Sinhala and Muslim settlements WEAKENING Tamil voting power. PUNISH TNA and other war criminals tit-for-tat.
