When TNA lives in Colombo and ‘Eelam’ is elsewhere

Let’s explore a very simple question. Exactly how does the TNA propose to give dignity to the Tamils by living away from them? Do they propose to run ‘Eelam’ by remote control from Colombo? How many trips have the chief ministerial candidate made to Sri Lanka’s North or even East during LTTE reign or even after its demise apart from the recent visits to campaign? Do the TNA even know areas of the North now given a new life and look courtesy of the Sri Lankan military personnel who are rebuilding all that the LTTE destroyed? If Tamils cannot show appreciation for all the change that they now enjoy, the freedom that they were denied during LTTE rule then the Tamils have a very long way to travel towards reconciliation.

Exactly what dignity do these TNA MPs give the Tamils whilst living in Colombo?

A question never answered is how many Tamils exactly supported LTTE inspite of its murderous ways? ƒ”š‚ With LTTE armed cadres now eliminated the LTTE stranglehold on Tamils still remains at large amongst LTTE front organizations, LTTE Tamil Diaspora, the LTTE-backed TNA and now a parachuted new entrant claiming stewardship of the Tamils as the chief ministerial candidate.

If many Tamils are thankful to the LTTE for facilitating the opportunity for them to now live overseas with exactly half of the Tamil population now referred to as ƒ¢¢”š¬’expats’ it means a very large number of Tamils in Sri Lanka are recipient of foreign funds sent through them. But exactly what number of Tamils are the shunned people and were these not the numbers from which the LTTE pick and chose its cadres ƒ¢¢”š¬- leaving aside the areas of Jaffna main which were under military rule since 1996. So we have a very small number of Tamils who have nothing positive to say about the LTTE and that has made us understand why there is no major breakthrough in reconciliation unless all Tamils stop wanting to divide the nation.

Do they really want their own people to again be led by another maniac? Has the nation not seen enough bloodshed? Have Tamils asked if any of the TNA children fought for the liberation of the Tamil people by joining the LTTE? Where do the children of the TNA reside? Are they not living overseas and preaching lies to fool Tamils? For what reasons have Tamils allowed the Tamil Nadu politicians to dictate an ƒ¢¢”š¬’Eelam’ in Sri Lanka, do Sri Lankan Tamils wish to have Tamil Nadu Tamils to come over and take over their lands and lives? Do Sri Lankan Tamils want to replace their current leaders with Tamil Nadu leaders? Exactly what type of future scenario do the Tamil people propose to create by allowing remnants of the LTTE to continue calls for separatism? Is it not in the hands of the Tamils to now decide how they want to carve their future? Would they realistically want to promote the TNA for opportunism when the likelihood of Sri Lanka turning into an East Timor is something the rest of the country cannot ignore. The emphasis is again on the external forces and external players involved throughout LTTE reign ƒ¢¢”š¬- we had the Norwegians, scores of Christian/Catholic NGOs and now a Father holds the umbrella of all the LTTE front organizations overseas ƒ¢¢”š¬- what do we conclude from such a system in place at different levels throughout the war and even post-war?

Would it not be a good time for the Hindus and Buddhists to think of the cultural, social, religious and even emotional bonds they have running to centuries and attempt to rebuild those bonds instead of allowing external factors to abuse, misuse and manipulate them taking the entire nation to peril?

The Tamils now need to stop being spectators and help rebuild the nation instead of allowing groups to use them to divide the country.

After reading the article it is clear that the Tamil National Alliance, The UNHRC led by a Tamil Nazi named Navi Pillay to the Tamil diaspora are simply voicing what the LITE demanded. During the war the LITE were offered many alternatives – short of Eelam. Till the very end Prabakharan and the LITE refused these alternatives for their only goal was Eelam.

Now that the war has ended, most LITE have been killed or rehabilitated and the Tamils are returning the exact same sense of defiance remains: the idea of “either give us Eelam or we will continue to shout out human rights violations” mentality now prevails.

Any conflicting issues should be removed and in addition the issue of the military presence, the right of Sinhalese to live where they please in Sri Lanka, the reconstruction of ancient Buddhist Viharas and the issue of Eelam should never be brought to the table. They should not be an issue of contention.

It is time for the Buddhist Sanga – and NOT Colombo demand a meeting in which the Tamil National Alliance must give a written list of what exactly they want. Then the Buddhist Sanga also gives a list of what the Singhalese Buddhists want. Within this framework if issues contradict one another then the majority wins. These lists be honored and no more demands from the Tamil minority will be accepted. Leave no room for debate since a war was fought to solve these problems.

Finally the move to make Buddhism the state religion should continue till it is finally achieved and the Sri Lankan Buddhist culture can rise again in a new renaissance from the ashes of the colonial period and the civil war.

Thanks Shenali… This is why I say, we have NOT got our priorities RIGHT.

FIRST get rid of ALL TAMIL POLITICIANS & their stooges from Colombo DISTRICT. They cannot reside in the DISTRICT . Live in Jaffna or Esatern Proovince UNDER the goodwill of Muslims. They are FROM NOW ON Classified as a SUB GROUP, NO DIRECT contact with HEPresident UNLESS they represent their CASE thru MUSLIM leadership. Bcos they the MULIMS are NEXT leading minority of Sri Lanka, making about 7% or more.

TAMILS all make up only 4 to 5%… so if Tamils cannot understand SIMPLE maths they should go back to Tamil Nadu. We cannot accomodate TRAITORS in our midst.

2… Get our President to DECLARE Sri Lanka is a PREDOMINANTLY a Buddhist country, the state recognizes BUDDHISM as the state religion.

3… Ask India NOT to meddle with our internal govt. politics, NOT to engage with MINORITIES without OUR PRESIDENT’s approval. Which ofcourse will be denied.

    4. NO INDIAN will be allowed to come to Sri lanka, without acceptable papers, and also that will be granted after THOROUGH INVESTIGATIONS. To sell some bangles, few jewellry items is NOT DOING BUSINESS in Lanka, IT IS SPYING to gather information & SELL that to the highest bidder.

    5. These RULES apply all minorities. 13th Amendment can and should take a back seat for the time being.

    6. Get LEGAL advice from WELL eduaced leagal minds, SIHALESE BUDDHIST to form a committee to START A PROCESS to prosecute RUDURKUMARN or some UNDESIRABLE including a woman named ADELLE who was married to some LTTE leader. This woman is one who is repsonsible CHILD SOLDIERS, & giving CYNADE CAPSULES in case they are interrogated by Lankan authorities, SHE leads a cushy life in the UK. Nobody has killed her so far..

    6. Ban any MP, Minister taking JAUNTS because India invites them to come there. IF INDIA needs to contact our poltical leaders, THERE IS PROPER PROTOCOL to follow, INDIA SHOULD follow those to the letter.

&. Investigate as to WHY INDIA is giving us warships for… OUR able NAVY should thoroughly search IF SPYING EQUIPMENT ARE INSTALLED by India to carry survelence of our BELOVED MOTHERLAND.

    7. NO SRI Lankan should be allowed to ACCEPT BRIBES, if they do.. THEY WILL BE punished by adding TRAITOR designation by the GOVT. of Lanka.

8 Our Govt. leaders & MINSTERS should NOT run to India no sooner an invitation is made, TAKE YOUR TIME & delay important meetings so that INDIA will succumb to our WAY OF Doing business.

This is a general comment, ~ EVRYTIME a decision has to be made by India, IT IS DELAYED..and they plan another VISIT by Indian officials, AFFTER THAT ONLY INDIA will tell us if they would attend the CHOGM. Why these donkeys think that WE WILL accept India UNDER HER CONDITIONS put on, us DUE TO URGENCY of the decision for US. NO WAY we should agree to those terms, THAT IS make Sri Lanka SUFFER some more TILL THE PARIPPU BRIGADE DECIDES.EEITHER COME or STAY behind.UK & other countries, leaders have promisd to be here.

We sent an invitation as we did to Pakistan. If INDIA wants to come, come OTHERWISE, stay and worshp TN politicas as India is worried about Elecetions in 2014, where they are bound to lose.

These are the facts we should insist upon INDIA as well as other illegal immigrants who just walk into our country & make it so difficult for our President govern this country.

I know I have expressed my opinion as someone should take these steps seriously IF WE EVER TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT country….Thank you again Shenali you are doing a wonderful job…..GOD BLESS LANKA ~ J

  4. Fran Diaz Says:

It is not correct to assume that Tamils make up only 4-5% of Lanka population. We have count not just the Northern & Eastern Tamils, but also the Upcountry Tamils as well as Tamil Muslims (M-TNA). There is also the Tamil Diaspora and Tamil Nadu politicos who support the Tamils of Lanka (when it comes to politics – the spending on Tamils is left to the Lanka mostly Sinhela taxpayer !).

We have to have strong Laws to protect the integrity of the country and the People, and also adhere to them. Obviously we are not doing a good job of it right now, and/or the Laws of the Land are not adequate, proven by Tamil illegal migrants being allowed to vote at the Northern elections.
