Wigneswaran presumes TNA victory in North PC elections was due to his presence as the Chief Ministerial Candidate .

TNA cannot be boastful of their victory at the North Provincial Council elections.‚  The Tamil people of the North did not trust the TNA due to their close proximity to the terrorists. But they had no alternative being sentimentally attached to a Tamil political party despite it being one time terrorist connected.‚  TNA was definitely not a popular party as it was seen from the results of the PC elections.

Having Wigneswaran as the Chief Ministerial Candidate gave the TNA a certain respectability and the Tamil people may have gained confidence to vote for the candidates from TNA as it was in their eyes now led by a respectable ex-judge from Colombo.

If TNA was a party popular among the Tamil people, it would have been a candidate from TNA who‚  would have got the highest preferential votes.‚  It was again the ex-judge Wigneswaran who got 132‚ 225 votes the highest number showing that the Tamil people definitely ‚ wanted him in control of the TNA PC Councillors.

Even the second highest with ‚ ‚ 87,870 votes was Ananthi Sasitharan.‚  She was elected ‚ not because she represented TNA but because she was a woman and the Tamil women would have voted for her for that reason..‚  The third highest was again Dharmalingam Sidharthan the PLOTE leader.

So TNA cannot be overjoyed that they were a popular Political party among the ordinary Tamil people, and that it was‚  an – overwhelming electoral mandate - received by the TNA

After taking Oath CM Wigneswaran spoke like a monarch addressing his people, – My office is a gift from my people. They have mandated me to perform my duties on a long term as well as a short term perspective. The former behoves us to confirm our individuality. To do so we have to learn lessons from our struggles of the past, our previous political perspectives and our past experiences and then forge ahead. It is the need of the hour that we remove the misunderstandings and doubts that have crept into the minds of various communities.-

Wigneswaran should not forget, ‚ ‚ and should always be thankful‚  to the thousands of Sinhala Buddhist Soldiers who gave their lives and limbs to rid the North of the ruthless terrorists to make it possible for him‚  to – receive the gift of his Office- from his ‚ people.

The terrorists stole the children of those people, to make Cannon fodder of them and drove them like unwashed cattle for months at end from one place to another keeping them as their human shields.‚  They lived nearly thirty years of untold suffering without any hope of relief or a painless future.

Therefore, when Wigneswaran says,‚  – -¦..we have to learn lessons from our struggles of the past, our previous political perspectives and our past experiences and then forge ahead.- What past does he speak of‚  ?

Is it the perilous -past- under terrorism ‚ ?‚  In that past Wigneswaran spoke of their was no hope, and their was no comfort and ease, which came to them only after that past, with a tolerant and generous government providing them with‚  modern comforts and a hopeful future.

It would be more just an appropriate that he reminds his people that the‚  hope and‚  peace they‚  have‚  received‚  is not from‚  the past which they would very much like to forget, but from‚  a recent past where a dutiful government desirous of‚  giving those people who suffered most from terrorism a new life of hope and‚  prosperity.

Then he says, – It is as a part of such an exercise that we decided that I take oaths before the President of this Country. We believe our decision would convey to our brethren our desire to settle our differences within a united Sri Lanka.-

It is normal that Wignaswaran takes his Oath before the President as he is only‚  another‚  Chief Minister, and not the -Crowned King- of the North.‚  He should not think that taking his Oath before the President was a favour he had accorded to the President of Sri Lanka.

President Mahinda Rajapakse needs more respect and the gratitude of the Tamil speaking people including that of Wigneswaran and the offshoot of terrorists the TNA, as it is he who has given the peaceful atmosphere in which they held a PC election in the North,‚  and enabled them to open their mouths without fear ( which was not possible with Prabhakaran) to criticise and make demands as if the Tamils have come down from a special planet.

It would have been still more appropriate for Wigneswaran to have taken his oath before the Governor of the North G.A.Chadrasiri as he represent those who made it possible for a democratic Provincial Council Election in the North after nearly 25 years.

It should be a privilege for the Tamil people of the North to have the former‚  Major General G.A.Chandrasiri as the governor, as he should remind them of -liberation and peace- in contrast‚  to their servile existence of‚  fear and hopelessness under Prabhakaran and terrorism.‚  It should be Wigneswaran-â„¢s duty to treat the Governor of the North with all respect due to him, and remind the Tamil people of his heroic role in brining to them peace and hope.

Wigneswaran adds, – Our action today buttresses our close-“up perspectives too, in that we expect to bring immediate relief to our war affected people. I hope the Sinhala people would endeavour to prod on their political representatives in every manner whatsoever to bring sunshine into the lives of our disturbed and affected Tamil speaking people.-

The Sinhala people have not got to -prod on their political representative-¦.to bring sunshine into the lives of the Tamil people‚  of the North ,- as every thing necessary has already been done to give the Tamil people in the North ‚ a better living condition and forget that suffering of the past.

Wigneswaran need not bother to bring any – relief to -¦.war affected people-, as much has already been done by the government and what is necessary for the Chief Minister and the‚  PC Councillors of the North is to go on from what has been done by the Government to consolidate and improve on them.

Wigneswaran says further, – I expect my Sinhala brothers and sisters to impress upon their political representatives that internal self determination does not divide the country but facilitate a journey on the path of unity. I sincerely ask the Sinhala people to realize that to the same extent the Sinhala people cherish and respect their language and culture so do the Tamil speaking people cherish and respect their own language and their traditions. There is no place for violence in this realization. None could force such realization. It is such sincere realization that would take us all on the path of peace and brotherhood. Therefore let my simple symbolic act today pave the way for the unity of the people of the two communities in our Island.-

The Tamil people had not been treated differently by the Sinhala people or the successive governments since independence.‚  But the separatist ideology has been brought in by the -inferiority- complex of the Tamils themselves.

In fact if the Tamils were more understanding we would have been a great united people with one language, one National anthem and one un-mutilated flag,‚  as any other Nation of the world.‚  It was made impossible with the racist Tamil elements without strong patriotism, determined to divide the country‚  and separate the communities for a narrow‚  nationalist idea of a separate Eelam.

Sri Lanka is one country with one people and there is no place for self determination.

The self determination is possible where a community of people live in one ‚ geographic area, speaking a separate language and with a separate belief system.‚ ‚  The North of Sri Lanka does not fall within that category for -self determination- as the Tamil people are not confined to one geographic area, ‚ but spread all over Sri Lanka.‚  The Tamil language is not confined to the people of the North as the Muslim Community is also a Tamil speaking Community. The religion of the Tamils and their Kovils are not confined to the North, they are all over the Island.

Wigneshwaran should understand this, and ‚ inform his TNA racists to keep within their rights, without making excessive demands which will be resisted by the other communities and ‚ would be an invitation for violence.

In his speech after taking Oath taking ‚ Chief Minister Wigneswaran did not thank the TNA Leadership for having invited him to accept to be their candidate for the Office of CM in the Norther PC.

Now that Wigneswaran is the Chief Minister, he cannot be dictated to by the TNA politicians to do what pleases them. He has his own Minsters‚  with whom he can work together to contribute to the greater welfare of the Tamil people of the North and develop a‚  close working relationship with the South, without letting himself to be dictated to by the TNA Politicians.

    Not true.

Vigneswaran FIRST joined TNA (ITAK). Then he contested and won. ITAK lead parties have been winning MOST Tamil votes since 1956 at EVERY election in the north.

Vigneswaran talked about Tamil SELF RULE, TAMIL ELAM, PIRAPAHARAN AS A GREAT HERO (comparable to the great Sinhala hero during British times), etc. That is why Tamil people voted for him.

Second was Ananthi. Her husband was a LTTE TERRORIST. That was why Tamil people voted for her.

Third was PLOTE – a former terrorist group which has NOT given up TAMIL ELAM. In PLOTE, the last two letters TE stands for Tamil Elam. That is why he was voted.

Vigneswaran is the biggest TNA racist. Don’t trust this terrorist just because he went to the president.

Little now, more later is their strategy.

  2. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

CM Wigneswara says :- IT IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR THAT WE REMOVE THE MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND DOUBTS THAT HAVE CREPT INTO THE MINDS OF VARIOUS COMMUNITIES.

You said a mouthful CM. Katey raththaran dahanna oney.

First start by RESETTLING THE 26,000 SINHALESE, who were ethnically cleansed and evicted from the North, by the TAMIL TIGER TERRORISTS, THE LTTE. Your Party, were and still is, the proxy of the LTTE, which is the TNA. CLEAR THE MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND DOUBTS, with the Sinhalese, right now.

Then, start by RESETTLING THE 96,000 MUSLIMS who were ethnically cleansed and evicted from the North by the TAMIL TIGER TERRORISTS, THE LTTE, who was, and still is, the proxy of the LTTE, which is the TNA. CLEAR THE MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND DOUBTS, with the Muslims right now.

LIVE UPTO THE HONOUR OF THY WORD. YOUR TAMIL PEOPLE ARE WAITING TO SEE YOUR COURAGE.

  3. Sooriarachi Says:

Did the bogy of a 2nd coming of LTTE terrorists, compel Northern voters to vote for the TNA?.
It is rumoured that TNA and LTTE activists visited Jaffna households to scare them by giving the message that if the Rajapakse Govt wins a majority, then the LTTE would reappear and the people of the North would have to go through hell all over again. Therefore the only way to prevent a second coming of the terrorists and a repeat of child kidnappings, rape, plunder, slavery, distruction by the terrorists would be to vote for the TNA, which would satisfy LTTE activists and therefore, peace will prevail.
Could this be why the TNA got a landslide victory, more than even what the TNA expected?

  4. Nimal Says:

TNA feels betrayed by Wignaswaran and we must get some comfort. He must be aware how our young troopers died for his liberty, where he was given an opportunity to be elected the CM.Being a judge(retired) should know what is proper and just for all the people of the island and move on.He must remember that some of their elected leaders were murdered by that maniac, that brought so much death and destruction to his own people while the conniving diaspora lived a life of luxury in the Western countries.

  5. Lorenzo Says:

    Sooriarachi,

TNA victory was expected in Jaffna. Vanni was a BIT higher than expected.

I predicted this months before but some GOOD (yes they are good because they are RATIONAL and GRATEFUL) people DISAGREED with me including you. This is not how Tamils think.

As a Tamil from Jaffna I know what is going on.

NONE of the things you say was the reason. Today Tamils cannot be terrorised by those tactics. LTTE cannot do it and EPDP cannot do it. They KNOW who the boss is.

Almost all Tamils in the north GENUINELY support Tamil Elam always.

It is better to ACCEPT this reality than deny it.

  6. Lorenzo Says:

    Nimal,

NEVER trust this terrorist Viggi. He is WORSE than even VP.

VP was straightforward so we could deal with him. This criminal is NOT. He is a cunning animal. He KNOWS what HE WANTS. That is called Tamil Elam.

How successful was Anton Balla-singham in FOOLING Sinhala and Muslim people in 2002 peace process? Exceptionally good. People were fooled for 4 years until 2006!!

This Viggi criminal is same. He is very good at fooling non-Tamils. He CANNOT fool Tamils (who want Tamil Elam) and escape. But he knows he can ALWAYS fool non-Tamils and get away.

  7. Sooriarachi Says:

    Lorenzo
Thanks for your opinion re my comments, but we cant say all the Tamils in the North wants a Tamil Elam, as I believe approx. 15% voted for the Governing parties. Anyway, now I believe that TNA would have won in any case.

However, the TNA itself was appealing for a two thirds majority and was surprised to get a land slide victory. This in my opinion was the fear of the second coming of Tigers, as predicted by some American and European commentators, and capitalised by the TNA & LTTE door knockers. Had I lived in the North, and had I believed the Tigers would re-establish their tyranny if the TNA did not win, then I too would have voted for the TNA just to keep the Tigers away, however much I disagree with their policies. Using scare tactics is not something new. The scariest thing for the Northern people was the second coming of the Tigers if the Governing parties performed well. In fact the EPDP that easily won Kytes at the last election, was completely wiped out in Kytes this time. Why? The UNP got totally wiped out in all Northern electorates. Why? This difference between the last election and this election has to be for a very good reason, even after so much of development work in the North carried out by the Govt. This good reason in my opinion is the belief the Tigers would re-appear unless the TNA wins. Therefore an obvious victory became a landslide victory.

  8. thurai Says:

Noone can identify the mentality of Tamil voters in Northern part of Sri Lanka. LTTE leader was SUNGOD.
Now noone has picture of him in houses or searched about his death or payed last respect to him.

In Jaffna to my knowledge there is no own Building for any Tamil political party or TNA. Tamil politicians also
know very well that Tamils change their minds according to the situation and circumstances. During the armsstruggle
they support the Tamil militantsgroup who strong and power. TNA has propaganda power and richest politicians.

If their is no Election only development and Employment chances for youths , Noone go to the street and
demand for a Election. TNA ,Sampanthan,Vigneswaren and others depends on Tamils and Tamil never depends
on Tamil polticians. After massive destruction after the Terrorism who gave the hands to the Tamils Govt or TNA?

  9. SA Kumar Says:

Almost all Tamils in the north GENUINELY support Tamil Elam always- Small correction , Federal state (provincial council system ) in United Mother Lanka !
But madness of Tamils Politician, We had this system last 100 years (from English rule – 9 provincials) fail to get power ( Finance & police etc..) from central (Colombo Govt) to run since 1948 !

Hope, NP CM can start this process at least now !!!
give ( begin to settle 26,000 SINHALESE & 96,000 MUSLIMS etc..) & take policy ( train 100,000 Tamil police , rebuild all factory & paddy field etc..)

Unit in Diversity , no shortcuts , United Mother Lanka !!!

  10. Fran Diaz Says:

    I agree with Thurai.

Also, Mr Wigneswaran is a Colombo Tamil and will always be so, whatever he says. Wigneswaran power & TNA power comes from keeping Tamils SEPARATE and APART from other communities – you know, the old Brit ‘divide & rule’ principle. For TNA thinking it is ‘We Tamils’ not ‘We Sri Lankans’. Can Sri Lanka ever be whole and wholesome with TNA type of thinking ?

Ordinary Tamils will always want peace and prosperity, same as all others in Lanka. Instead, they are kept apart and separated and estranged from the very country that nurtures them, by Northern TNA Tamil POLITICOS. The Tamils will go along so long as it suits them, as Thurai says. The Northern TNA Tamil politico is the bane of the lives of ordinary Tamil folk.

It is also the TNA that ties up the North to Tamil Nadu negative political thinkers.

  11. Fran Diaz Says:

Identify the TNA as the ‘bug in the ointment’ of politics in Lanka. TNA Separatist thinking is the destabilising factor. Mr Wigneswaran & the TNA are aiming for Federalism which is another name for Eelam. His hidden words in his speeches indicate that quite clearly.

The TNA must be made to change its MANIFESTO. In actual fact, the Northern PC elections were unlawful in that the TNA Candidates contested under a Manifesto that is illegal, but under the ITAK ticket. What perfidy is allowed in Lanka in the name of political expediency.

The 6-A must be implemented in full in order to protect the integrity of Sri Lanka. No other way. Tamil Nadu & the IC are just waiting for another Lankan slippery slope act.

  12. Lorenzo Says:

    Sooriarachi,

NOT ALL but ALMOST ALL Tamils in the north support Tamil ELAM.

SOME govt. votes are ALSO from Tamil ELAMISTS.

e.g. Basil promised SELF RULE to Tamils before the election trying to woo as many Tamil votes as he could.

e.g. LTTE sections were also backing the govt. like KP.

These are ways the govt. CLEVERLY try to make use of TAMIL ELAM DESIRE of Tamils to get some votes.

Kites lost was SAME as in 1977 Vada-kundi election. Kites is a fishing caste electorate with natural EPDP support. But in 1977 and 2013 ITAK/TULF grabbed the victory because their Tamil Elam appeal was STRONGEST.

UNP was actually supporting TNA!! UNP never expected to win a seat. Instead it wanted its voters (Maheswaran loyalists) to vote for ITAK (TNA).

  13. Lorenzo Says:

    Fran,

    Wrong.

Please don’t ASSUME what Tamils want. This is the problem. Sinhalese ASSUME what Tamils SHOULD have. You have NO RIGHT to do so. Some Tamils also ASSUME what “intelligent” Sinhalese MUST be asking. If they ask for unitary SL, no federal, etc. these Tamils call them modayas.

Tamils in the north BADLY DESIRE Tamil Elam. Fullstop.

This is a FACT proven many times. EVERY DAMN election since 1947 proves it.

Don’t be misled by the word “peace”. Everyone wants peace but a DIFFERENT VERSION of peace.

What matters is a version of peace that PRESERVES the UNDIVIDED state of SL. And Tamils in the north rejected it ALWAYS.

Viggi is a JAFFNA TAMIL living in Colombo. He has NOT lost his roots in Jaffna. ALL TNA MPs live in Colombo!!!

  14. Lorenzo Says:

Cracks are deepening in TNA over minister posts.

The LOSING camp will have to secure their political future. So what will they do? They will get CLOSER to Jaffna and Vanni people THAN TNA ministers are. That means they will become WORSE Tamil racists.

This is what happened between ACTC and ITAK in 1949. ACTC was a RACIST Tamils party but by 1949 it was not RACIST ENOUGH for Tamils. ITAK filled that gap by EXTREME RACISM. Tamils LOVED it and voted in 1952 and 1956.

If Viggi becomes a CO-OPERATING govt. supporting politician, Tamils will reject him as they did to Ponnambalam of ACTC.

Someone named SUSANTHA GOONATILAKE recently wrote about Tamil mentality. He is SPOT ON. Please read his article to KNOW about Tamil mentality without ASS-UMING things.

A very wise person to know about Tamil mentality without being a Tamil from the north.

  15. Lorenzo Says:

When people identify a cobra as a cobra, they KNOW how to deal with it.

If they identify a cobra as a tail of a pussycat, they DON’T KNOW how to deal with it.

Some people still want to assume the northern Tamil cobra as the tail of an innocent pussy cat. This IGNORANCE is what gets them going.

  16. Lorenzo Says:

    “[TamilNet, Friday, 11 October 2013, 06:57 GMT]

Twenty members of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) elected to the Northern Provincial Council took oaths in Jaffna after visiting the memorial site of SJV Chelvanayakam and after observing honour to fallen Tamil Heroes (Maaveerar) and the people perished in the war.”

After observing honor for LTTE TERRORISTS!!

Go to Tamilnet and see fotos. Who else were there at this TERRORIST event?

BISHOPS!!! NO Hindu priests but BISHOPS. Many other Catholic priests also among the crowd!!!
