Who is the pariah? State or “Paki”? – Part II

H. L. D. Mahindapala

‚ The acronym NGOs is a misnomer. It does it conform in any way to its intended definition. It is meant to stand for Non-Governmental Organizations. This is far from the truth of what it really is. In all respects -” organizational, personnel, political and selected agendas — these institutions operates as extensions of foreign governments. The foreign governments outsource the dirty part of their foreign policies to these local agents who are bought readily for a fistful of dollars. So how can agencies of foreign governments be non-governmental organizations?

The foreign governments find it cheaper to fund these hired agents because they are willing to slave as agents to push the hidden agenda of the West at a cost far less than posting employees of foreign offices, with their families, abroad. To begin with, the cost of transporting foreign diplomats with their families are cut out instantly when they are replaced by the natives who are ready to step into their shoes at cut rates. Though all nations resent the anti-national, interventionist activities of these hired organisations only Russia has come to grips with it to some extent. In Russia it is mandatory to name these interventionist organizations according to their proper function: Foreign Governmental Organizations (FGOs). -Paki- Saravanamuttu, Jehan (PACHA) Perera, -Bad-man- Weerakoon, Radhika Coomaraswamy and their likes either have been, or still are, heads of FGOs and not NGOs.

‚ A good example is that of the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) headed first by Neelan Tiruchelvam, the MP nominated to Parliament by TNA, and his successor Radhika Coomaraswamy. The ICES was funded primarily by the Ford Foundation. This Foundation never funded anything that was not favourable to American interests. Protecting American political interests was the best for protecting American business interests.

‚ These FGOs are linked inextricably with the embassies of foreign governments which employs them as‚  their -soft power-. The regular interaction between the FGOs and the embassies financing them make‚  them the paid stooges of foreign governments. They are the monkeys dancing in the streets of Colombo according to the tunes of organ grinders in Washington, London, Paris, Berlin etc. But the political vocabulary is twisted to give respectability to these monkeys pushing the foreign barrels. Of course, this is not how -Paki- Saravana-mutt-us and Jehan (Pacha) Pereras see themselves. They parade in the diplomatic cocktail circuit as if they are the objective and independent moral activist policing the local society, owing no allegiance to any mother-â„¢s son except the bank manager who‚  handles their foreign funds.

‚ Using native heads (with Ph. Ds if possible) is seen as better than using the American embassy staff, for instance, to propagate the American version of politics to the locals. These hired agents have no solid political base outside the Western embassies and the columns of some editors who are in their pockets. They do not represent the people. They are the self-appointed do-gooders engaged primarily in raking money from abroad by selling‚  the misery, suffering‚  and the wounds of the nation. The nation has not benefited in any way from -Paki- Saravanamuttu or Jehan (Pacha) Perera. In fact the nation would have been better off without them because they became the problem instead of being a part of the solution. They were in it to win the benefits, perks, invitations to cocktail parties etc. And these hired hacks in FGOs got all of it simply by shedding‚  crocodile tears for the victims of fascist Vadukoddian terrorists -” all whom benefited by their lobbying in embassies..

‚ Peace did not come because of the initiatives or theories of these FGOs. In fact, they were the enemies of peace who manufactured excuses for‚  the protection and preservation of the Tamil Pol Pot. Their voices‚  helped‚  to prolong the futile Vadukoddai War. And the longer it dragged on the more money they raked in with the smug satisfaction of a mudalali filling his till. For instance, none of their fanciful seminars, publications, position papers, lectures and other posturing helped to save the children from the hands of the terrorists dragging them to fight‚  in Prabhakaran-â„¢s senseless war. Which of their think-tanks contributed to lift the people-â„¢s average income to $4,000 annually?

‚ The FGOs in Colombo and the Vanni failed even to ensure that the food, medicine, and other essentials sent by the GOSL to save the Tamils held as hostage by the Tamil Pol Pot were received by the victims of Vadukoddai War. They were very good at blaming the GOSL for every failure which was another way of exonerating the Tamil Pol Pot who violated 95% per cent of the Oslo Agreement of 2002, as stated by the Scandinavian Peace Monitors. If the FGOs targeted the Terroristan in the Vanni with the same force as they targeted the GOSL the war would have ended much earlier and saved thousands of lives. But in the perceptive phrase of Prof. Rajan Hoole, head of the University Teachers for Human Rights, Jaffna, the FGOs were -pussy-footing around- when it came to dealing with the Tamil Pol Pot of Jaffna.‚

‚ They consistently directed their fire at the GOSL with only a rap on the‚  knuckles of the Tamil Pol Pot with a dry tissue paper. If they had the perspicacity, or the‚  plain capacity to analyze and asses the ground realities, they should have thrown their lot with the democratic south to target the fascist north. If they treasured democratic values they should have sided with the south at least till the war ended. Instead they stuck to their myopic bigotry that blinded them to the difference between defending democracy and fascist terrorism. In their covert way they gave oxygen to the Tamil Pol Pot and followed him, as his first-aid team, all the way to Nandikadal.‚

‚ What then is the end result of the role they played in the most serious crisis faced by the nation in the post-independent period? In short, what the hell did they achieve for the people of Sri Lanka? Is there one significant positive achievement that they can name as coming from their end? The most critical issue was that of ending‚  the war. In what way did they serve to end the war? Or did they actively pursue a policy of prolonging the war in the name of minority and human rights, going along with the Tamil Pol Pot who was happily ensconced in the overt and covert cover given by the Catholic Church and the FGOs. Wasn-â„¢t it their -pussy footing- that gave the Tamil Pol Pot the veneer of being an indispensable force for peace?

‚ Take the case of -Paki- Saravanamuttu who is one of those pseudo-intellectuals pretending to be Mr. Know-all. He has emerged as the leading Tamil activist, engaged 24/7, in perpetuating the anti-Sri Lankan and anti-Sinhala-Buddhist propaganda to sustain and boost the belligerent racism embedded in the Vadukoddai agenda. Of course, he gets away with his Tamil racism by couching‚  it in the hacked clichƒ©s touted‚  in human rights discourses.

‚ He is the racist Vadukoddian of NGOs and like all Vadukoddians‚  he has been a loser. He ran around like a chook without a head‚  to‚  stop the war -” and failed. He is still smarting from the blow he received at Nandikadal. With his ideologically fixated obsession that no good has come from the -Sinhala state- to anyone, particularly to the Tamils, he has lobbied the‚  international community to isolate Sri Lanka‚  as a -pariah state-. He has lobbied the members of the Commonwealth, including India, to boycott the forthcoming CHOGM conference in Colombo. He has failed so far. Of the 53 members only the Canadian Prime Minister has dropped out — and that too not because of his committed concern for human rights but because it helps them to win the Tamil vote bank in Toronto etc.‚ ‚ ‚

‚ But there are some like -Paki- Saravamuttu-â„¢s boot-licking acolyte, Sanjana Hattotuwa, — poor fellow is singing for his supper! -” who thinks that the sun shines daily out of the flatulent lower end of his master-â„¢s ‚ anatomy. To repeat the colourful words of his dancing partner, Chandrika Kumaratunga, used in another‚  context,‚  -he doesn-â„¢t speak from his‚  mouth-. It is his flatulent verbosity that speaks louder than his mouth. Though he fancies himself as cutting a great figure in‚  reality he is prone to give the impression of being a pretentious scum bag who is growing horizontally by sucking‚  the blood of the victims of the Tamil Pol Pot of Jaffna. He came into prominence by preaching from the top of Tamil corpses piled up by his secret hero, Velupillai Prabhakaran, the most barbaric Tamil political criminal who exceeded the cruelties of even Sankili, the first Tamil mass murderer of Tamils.

‚ At the height of the‚  Vadukoddai War Saravanamuttu used to glorify the military might of his hero by highlighting‚  the‚  number of deserters in the Sri Lankan army. He hardly had time to highlight the‚  deserters of Tiger camps, or that Prabhakaran was beefing up his cadres by forcibly dragging under-aged children to fight in the needless Vadukoddai War. Nor did he urge Prabhakaran to stop the war when the Tamil Pol Pot was fighting with his‚  back to the wall. At the end of the day he can only count on a couple of cases he won in -the Sinhala courts- of -the Sinhala state- as his great achievements. But he dared not go to the Tamil courts of the Tamil quasi- state to protect the Tamil victims of Tamil fascism. He is the hollow/shallow man whose headpiece is filled with American straw. It is the American dollars that talk when he opens his vacuous mouth, and certainly not‚  human rights because no human rights activist worth his salt would ever run around to save the Tamil Pol Pot guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Which human rights activist or‚  pacifist lobbied to halt World War II which would have meant saving Hitler, the mad‚  mass murderer?

‚ Saravanamuttu-â„¢s ulterior motive, every step of the way, was to perpetuate the fascist regime of the Tamil Pol Pot and exploit the misery and the agony arising from that for him to strut the human rights stage as the knight in shining armour. His biggest claim to fame is his denigration of -the Sinhala state-. He had no viable or pragmatic solution to the national crisis other than blaming the state -” the bete noir of all FGOs. His failed mantras‚  has only helped him to accumulate more dollars, leaving the victims of the Vadukoddai War helpless and bleeding, without any help from‚  him‚  or his gang in the NGOs. He is too busy sipping‚  free whiskey in the diplomatic cocktail circuit to worry about the primary needs of the Tamil people. He is in the forefront of airy-fairy issues of separatism and human rights because there is more money in it to maintain his expensive life-style than going down to the gnawing, raw needs of the Tamils in Mullativu or Pudukuduiruppu.‚ ‚ ‚

‚ What has this self-proclaimed expert on peace-making achieved for the war-weary people of the nation? All his political forays have only helped him to thrive at the expense of the people he is supposed to serve. For instance, his girth round his belly has expanded exponentially. This certainly is not a sign of him‚  grieving for the victims of the Vadukoddai War, is it? It is more a sign of his posh life-style maintained by foreign funds. He fancies that by tittle-tattling to the American Embassy he is rendering a great service to the people of Sri Lanka. In sucking up to the American embassy he little realizes that he goes down to level of nothing but a cheap tale-carrier to foreign embassies. This may help him to rake in dollars to go dancing with Chandrika Kumaratunga. But how can two prominent failures dancing‚  together to same Western beat help the nation?

‚ Like the Tamil Pol Pot he never had qualms‚  about exploiting the democratic norms and‚  channels in -the Sinhala state- he vilified to protect the Pol Potist Terroristan in the Vanni. By all political calculations the need of the hour was to remove Prabhakaran from the political equation. The empirical evidence available in the post-Nandikadal period confirms that peace, reconciliation, reconstruction and democracy is advancing at a leisurely pace so far because the Tamil Pol Pot is not there to violently obstruct progress. When that is the plain and incontrovertible fact why was he -pussy-footing around- with the intransigent evil of Prabhakaran-â„¢s violence, at the height and even at the end of the Vadukoddai War, preaching that the best solution for the nation was to appease the Tamil terrorist criminal?

‚ His Centre for Policy Alternative (CPA) never presented the only viable alternative of regime change in the Vanni even when the Tamil Pol Pot was committing barbaric acts against‚  his own Tamil people. all of which were known to him. But now, when the international community is coming round to accept that the nation is settling down to peace and reconstruction, despite all the gaps that needed to be filled, Saravana-MUTT-u has come up with the outrageous move to call for regime change simply because he can-â„¢t get his way in running the affairs of the nation according to his foreign agenda.

‚ This pathetic loser is also frustrated that the international community is not heeding his call for regime change. He is urging the whole world to follow him and boycott the CHOGM in Colombo. Saravana-MUTT-u is a loser like‚  Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, — the only head of state who has decided to boycott the Colombo CHOGM. Saravana-MUTT-u-â„¢s statement is aimed at two objectives: 1. deny the legitimacy and respect due to GOSL which would come in greater measure by holding the CHOGM in Colombo and 2. to make GOSL look like -a pariah state- for the likes of him in FGOs to hang the state by giving it a bad name. In short, his aim is to isolate GOSL by joining hands with the anti-national elements and persuade the international community to act against the state more forcefully and intensely in order to overthrow it. He also knows that this is not going to happen though he fancies that he is the maker-and-breaker of the nation. Faced with the overwhelming backing of Commonwealth members for the GOSL he moans: “So instead of engaging in regime change, they (CHOGM) may well be inadvertently engaging in regime consolidation.” (The Australian).

‚ In pushing for -regime change- Saravana-MUTT-u has inexcusably put his foot in the mouth. He has revealed his hidden political agenda and confessed that his objective is to go for -regime change-. This raises serious issues about the role of any NGO. Should any NGO be allowed to violate the constitution and the laws of the land and call foreign forces to join him in overthrowing a democratically elected government of the people? What section of the UN Charter, which recognizes CPA as an observer in the proceedings of UN agencies, gives it the right to conspire with inimical foreign forces to change the regime of a popular, democratically elected government? Where in the Vision, Mission and Objectives declared in the charter of his own Centre for Policy Alternative does it say that he has the right to actively work, or call for -regime change- of a government that represents the supreme will of the people?

‚ Besides, why is he asking for regime change of an elected government which is a member of the UN and the Commonwealth when he never asked for regime change of the Vanni Terroristan banned by the international community? Which other NGO has, brazenly disregarding all democratic constitutional norms, come out openly calling for -a regime change- of a democratically elected state recognized by the international community? Since this his declared policy what action should be taken against him for stepping out of his legitimate boundaries to act treacherously to overthrow an elected government? Should the Ministry of External Affairs take this issue up with the UN and its agencies to challenge his claim to be an objective, impartial, neutral agent adhering to the international legal norms? Is changing regimes in collaboration with inimical foreign agents his idea of -good governance-? If -regime change- is his idea of -good governance- with whom is he going to replace it? Has he learnt nothing ‚ from regime changes in the Middle East that brought chaos instead of the expected -Arab Spring-? What action should be taken by the UN against a person,‚  who holding observer status in UN sessions, violates all known norms of respecting member states and their right to govern on the general will of the people? ‚

‚ Any action against an errant state must be taken by the Security Council, the highest decision-making body in the UN charter? So on what legitimate powers has -Paki- Saravana-MUTT-u, the pompous‚  pipsqueak, decided to call for regime change in Sri Lanka? Is he attempting to be another Prabhakaran grabbing authoritarian powers by operating outside the legal framework for him‚  to control the destiny of the nation? Isn-â„¢t he behaving like exactly like Prabhakaran — a megalomaniac drunk with powers that he doesn-â„¢t have? With his bitter partisan politics can his reporting of events in Sri Lanka be trusted by any rational, legal international or national institution aiming to guide the nation in good governance? Can he be trusted to foster democratic institutions, promoting peace and reconciliation when he is bent on playing politics -” a game he is not entitled to play under any circumstances?‚  If his solution for Sri Lanka is regime change does it mean that he has the backing of his foreign agents to impose his dictatorship, without the consent of the people?

‚ Since President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the most‚  popular, undefeated leader in the political field today there is only one way, right now, of a regime change and that is through a right-wing coup. Does his statement mean that Saravana-MUTT-u is in cahoots with Western agencies to launch a coup for regime change?

‚ In another interview with The‚ Guardian Saravana-MUTT-u griped that the summit would consolidate the regime. He said: “It (Mahinda Rajapaksa-â„¢s regime) will be able to say to the world and at home: look, 50 countries have come -¦ we are not pariahs.” Here he has classified the state elected by the general will (Rousseau) of the people as a -pariah- state. It is more an insult to the people than to the regime. Conversely, shouldn-â„¢t the self-appointed Saravana-MUTT-u, not elected by anybody except himself, be branded by the people as a low, filthy -pariah- for trying to subvert their will?

‚ In making these wild statements he is exposing‚  (1) his frustration and inability to cope with the defeat at Nandikadal -” a war which helped him to maintain his expensive life-style and (2) his racist bias that refuses to recognize and respect the positive gains that would make a fundamental difference to all war-weary Sri Lankans. Unfortunately, he is not alone in demonizing ‚ the -Sinhala state-. The Northern political landscape is infested with identical creepy crawlies who cannot cope with the defeat of what they believed to be was their invincible hero.

‚ Besides, in a masochistic way, the Tamil leadership needed the North to bleed for them to feed on it and survive, some as victims‚  of the Sinhalese and others as victims of Prabhakaran. The mass migration of Tamils was based on claims of victimology. The North has been one whole beggar-â„¢s wound which helped the masses to migrate to greener pastures and the Tamil leadership to collect votes by blaming the Sinhalese. There were substantial benefits for the Tamils at both ends of the political spectrum. It is the English-speaking, privileged Vellahla elite in professions and politics that benefited most from the suffering‚  the Tamil masses. Saravana-MUTT-u is one of them

‚ Demonizing the -Sinhala State- and angelizing of the Tamil quasi-state of the Tamil Pol Pot were parallel tactics for the Tamil leadership to legitimize the suppression of the Tamils masses and suck their blood till it ran dry. The Tamil leaders lost their way and headed straight to Nandikadal not because of their love for their people but because of their hatred of the Sinhalese. The Vadukoddai Resolution represents the essence of their venomous hatred. When all the opportunities were there for peaceful co-existence they consciously and deliberately decided to go for a military solution -” and they had to pay for it dearly. The unrealistic and exaggerated distortions of‚  history and geography in the notorious Vadukoddai Resolution was designed to justify their declaration of war against the Sinhalese, based essentially on hate politics. ‚

‚ If the Tamils had far less -Paki- Saravana-MUTT-us and more balanced pragmatists they could have avoided the blind road they took from Vadukoddai to Nandikadal. Even at this late stage when history is staring in his face Saravana-MUTT-u is refusing to accept the evolving realities undercutting the ground under his bigoted feet. As they say, they are none so blind as those who refuse to see. Despite all his bombastic pomposities ‚ and posturing of a do-gooder, displayed in the midst of the long-suffering Tamils, he stands out among them not as their promising guide or self-sacrificing Knight in Shining Armour but as a two-legged worm wriggling, feeding and fattening on the puss oozing from the age old Tamil wounds inflicted on the misdirected Tamil people by their parasitic, exploitative, self-serving leaders. These are the Ibsenian -pillars of society- that are invited to White House, or honoured with plaques by the other peace mudalali, Jehan (Pacha) Perera.

‚ Aren-â„¢t we all condemned to live in a topsy-turvy world of absolute moral perversions dished out by the Saravana-MUTT-us of this world who fill their pockets with dollars by selling the blood of‚  their own people?

  1. Lorenzo Says:

    Well said HLDM!

Paki and TNA are the pariahs.

  2. Fran Diaz Says:

FGOs (Foreign Govt. Organisations) is an excellent term to use instead of NGOs.

Basically, all FGOs/NGOs have to please their paymasters – otherwise why do foreign paymasters pay them ? It is said that those who pay the Piper calls the tunes.

By the way, why is it that the newly formed Farmers Federation (covering all of Sri Lanka) called the All CEYLON Farmers Federation ? At present times, naming grass roots livelihood organisations of Lanka using the Colonists “CEYLON” word instead of SRI LANKA doesn’t sound too healthy to us. What’s the catch here ?

    * Sri Lanka’s farmers associations to form a broad forum
Thu, Oct 24, 2013, 08:16 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 24, Colombo: Around 500 island wide farmers’ associations in Sri Lanka will join together to form a broad forum for farmers in the country, a representative said.

National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation, Provincial Councilor Namal Karunaratne said that 200 farmers’ associations have already agreed to join a united platform for farmers.

He explained that despite the fact that there are a large number of farmers in the country, they are scattered across the country and have been unable to form a joint forum to speak out their problems.

He observed that farmers have been isolated in their struggles to find solutions to their long standing problems.

According to Karunaratne, once the broad platform is set up, the joint farmers’ forum would establish district level committees that would bring to the main forum the problems faced by farmers in different areas.

The joint farmers’ forum is looking at launching an island wide campaign to win the now defunct farmers’ pension scheme and solutions to their long standing problems.
