UNP and the CHOGM

The CHOGM is now in full swing. During the last few weeks‚ there was so much talk about countries which were going to boycott the Summit. Mean while in the domestic front, we have the UNP and TNA which‚ boycotted the CHOGM. The UNP is in a mess and some claim that there are signs of a split. And the UNP as usual is putting the blame on the govt for this internal row.
‚
This week, when the newly formed ‘United leadership Council’ met, another group calling the ‘Organisation for building national unity’ had gathered outside Sirikotha‚ and engaged in a protest. This had led to a clash between the 2 groups. In the rush, Ranils car had been attacked as he arrived.
‚
To coincide with the CHOGM, the UNP had organised a Human Rights summit. Along with this, they had also put up an exhibition of missing persons. It had been reported that these two events are similar to those organised by the TNA in Jaffna. On the day‚ the exhibition was opened, there had been a protest by‚ another group saying ‚ that the UNP is betraying the country and aligning with the LTTE rump, when an international event is held.
‚
The UNP‚  is famous for betrayals. They laughed at Eelam war iv and sided with the West, NGO’S, TNA etc and tried to sabotage the victory.‚  So at a time when‚  some countries and groups were trying to scuttle the summit, it is no surprise that the UNP joined them.

The SHAME & TREASON of the UNP is well summarized by Aloy:

“The UNP is famous for betrayals. They laughed at Eelam war iv and sided with the West, NGO’S, TNA etc and tried to sabotage the victory. So at a time when some countries and groups were trying to scuttle the summit, it is no surprise that the UNP joined them.”
