Now that the US State Department, in its counter terrorism report, has announced that the LTTE uses the large Tamil Diaspora in North America, Europe and Asia for their activities, countries such as Canada, France, UK and Norway where the Diaspora are present in large numbers, must exercise caution against them, Irrigation and Water Resources Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva noted yesterday. “The government has been saying this for such a long time during and after the war.
Pro LTTE Tamil Diaspora organizations are still functional and active in their operations in North America, Europe and Asia, and they have not stopped promoting the mission of the slain terrorist leader Prabhakaran to set up a separate state in Sri Lanka despite the LTTE’s military defeat in the country in 2009,” he pointed out.
Minister de Silva was referring to a report issued by the US State Department on the situation of the LTTE and their international operations that continued before and after the defeat of the LTTE.
The report said, “The group (LTTE) employed charities as fronts to collect and divert funds for their activities.”
“These Diaspora groups are not to be taken lightly by the international community,” the minister stressed. “They have funded the LTTE terrorists to the extent that they could have an amphibious force. They had the Sea Tigers and a nascent air wing, the Air Tigers they called these forces. Moreover they had a cardre of suicide bombers, among them women.
The LTTE-made human bombs that killed Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 and President of Sri Lanka Ranasinghe Premadasa in 1993,”, he said.
“Canada, France, UK and Norway should not disregard where they are being led by these Diaspora campaigners. We believe that they should not ignore the possibility of the boomerang effect of terrorism encouraged by these groups,” he added.
“We hope that these countries take notice what we say here as a country that suffered immensely by terrorism.
The US State Department with all its resourcefulness to monitor and investigate terrorist operations in the world, has said that the Diaspora Groups have continued the LTTE’s financial network of support throughout 2013, exactly what we have been saying throughout that year and now,” he said.
“The US State Department’s report is a justification of the recent decision taken by the government to ban 16 Tamil Diaspora groups. “Several European countries including the Canadian Government reacted negatively over this decision and said that they will not recognize it,” Minister de Silva said.
“If they cannot recognize the decision of the Sri Lankan government to ban these groups , it is high time for the whole of Europe, North America and Asia to take the word of the US for that,” the minister said.
“We believe that US thinking is right on the matter. It is high time that countries having large Tamil Diaspora groups take appropriate attention to the problem and commit themselves to combat terrorism to ensure international security,” he said.-

“What does Chennai mean? The question troubled Paris-based historian J B P More quite a lot. After painstaking research, he found the answer.
In his recently released book, titled ‘Origin and Foundation of Madras’, More says, “Chinapatnam and Chennapatnam were the other names for Madras used by Tamil and Telugu settlers in the area. Chennapatnam was ‘Tamilised’ as Chennai but the word didn’t mean anything in Tamil. It’s undoubtedly a Telugu word.”
Madraspatnam was derived from Medu Rasa Patnam, said More, who was in Chennai on Saturday to release his book. “When Nayak Venkatappa (a local chieftain) issued a grant (a portion of the area where subsequently Fort St George came up) in favour of the English in 1639, only Madraspatnam was mentioned in it. But during the 1640s, two new names for Madraspatnam or for the area inhabited by Tamils and Telugus around Fort St George seems to have come into existence. They were Chinapatnam and Chennapatnam,” he said.
Chinapatnam would have been the first name that would have come into existence in the Tamil-Telugu quarters to signify the Black Town of Madraspatnam. “‘Chenna’ in Telugu means fair and is not to be confused with the Tamil ‘Chinna’, which means small. In Tamil, ‘Chenna’ is meaningless,” said More.
He said in the Tamil Lexicon, the Tamil word ‘Cennai’ has been mentioned which would signify ‘a drum announcing religious procession of an idol’. More said there was no reference in documents and literature of the period to ‘Chennai’ as a drum.
“In the document of Beri Timanna, we find ‘Chenna’ written as ‘Chennai’. Thus Chenna Kesava Perumal became Chennai Kesava Perumal and Chennapatnam became Chennai Pattanam.
This seems to be purely the work of a translator of the 19th century who had preferred to Tamilise the Telugu word ‘Chenna’ into ‘Chennai’ so it sounded more Tamil,” said More. “The word ‘Chennai’ seems to have been born to designate Madras town. Its origin is Telugu. There is nothing Tamil in it,” he added.”

That is not the result of funding from the Tamil diaspora but India’s transfer of technology to the Tamil tigers to construct submarines, and have a navy. The Sri Lankan war against Tamil terrorism was also a proxy war New Delhi waged against Sri Lanka.
Looking at it this way it is no surprise that the Tamil Nadu Politicians who were explicitly involved during the war continue their brazen support of organizations such as TESO (Tamil Eelam Supporters Org) and TELO (Tamil Eelam Liberation Org). Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa makes it no secret about her ambitions of resurrecting Eelam. In fact she goes out of her way to make it an issue. What does New Delhi do? absolutely nothing.
Today in the Times of India I noted that India is taking it seriously about the resurgence to create Eelam when they arrested a Sri Lankan Muslim in Chennai who was there for that purpose. Now India is paying attention to Sri Lanka.
But what about the Western world? what if they do not pay heed to Colombo? what then? Will Sri Lanka have to suffer the double shame of being accused of human rights violations on trumped up charges by the UNHRC AND face a resurgent international movement to divide Sri Lanka.
I strongly suggest that if these nations do not take the threat to Sri Lanka seriously then it is the duty of the Secret Service or other organizations to take the leaders of the Pro LTTE movements out. This has been done with success by Israel, the US, the UK, Soviet Union to mention but a few nations who have sent their agents into hostile territory to do what needs to be done if these nations continue to host such terrorists who are bent on the division of Sri Lanka. There is a saying that those who value the integrity of Sri Lanka must take to heart:

Many commentators pointed this out few years ago, BUT not a signle politician has the guts to come out and say it loud & clear. Tamil politiians & their orgs in Sri Lanka are FRONTS to deceive the GOSL and continue their activitis regardless.
SRI LANKA must act in SriLanka, to arrest MOST TNA MPs who hide & sometimes OPENLY ADVOCATE SEPARATISM. These are punishable under OUR PRESENT CONSTIUTION. So why not arrest at least ONE or two so that others will learn & STOP activities to break up the country.

Lankan among five held over ATM skimming in Thailand
Five persons, including a Sri Lankan national, believed to be part of a skimming network stretching across Thailand were arrested in possession of multiple credit cards under different names and 700,000 baht in cash.
Three were caught in the process of skimming an ATM in Karon, Thailand. The other two were apprehended as they were allegedly attempting to evade officers.
The men were named by police as Viothan Thiyagarsa, 29, from the Netherlands; Gnanapooranan Ratnasabapathy, 51, travelling on a Norwegian passport, but originally from Sri Lanka; Nesaruban Arunachalam, 28, from India; Hussain Qasim, 31, from Norway; and Qaiser Abbas Shah, 20, also from Norway.
“We suspected that they were part of a skimming gang, and have been monitoring all five men since they arrived in Phuket,” said Karon Police Superintendent Nathapakin Kwanchaipruek.
The men have visited Phuket three times in the last year. Instead of leaving a deposit with a credit card at the hotel, they always left their passports and then paid for the rooms in cash after a day or two, Col. Nathapakin said.
“They stayed for about a week at a time,” he added.
Police swooped in to make the arrests after a local tipped them off that Thiyagarsa was spending an inordinate amount of time at the ATM in front of the Metadee Resort and was using multiple cards to make withdrawals, Col. Nathapakin said.
“Officers rushed to the scene, confronted Thiyagarsa and asked to search his bag. Inside, they found multiple ATM cards and a wad of cash,” said Col. Nathapakin.
“After speaking with Thiyagarsa, officers set out to track down the other four suspects.”
Ratnasabapathyr was caught in the act withdrawing money from an ATM and, soon after, Arunachalam was arrested using an ATM, said Col. Nathapakin.
“The three scammers were found with a total of 700,000 baht between them,” he added. Qasim and Shah were caught as they were allegedly attempting to evade police near the Nanai 9 Residence where they were staying.
“We believe these men are part of a scamming network in Thailand, and that there will be more like them. We are continuing to investigate this lead in an effort to stamp out ATM skimming on the island,” said Col. Nathapakin.

Lorenzo: In one article a survey revealed that there are around 29 million slaves in the world today. Of which half are in India. i watched a documentary on Myanmar. They are so isolated and poor that it is a regular practice to sell children to anyone for any purpose. As for those Nigerian girls any charity can buy them and give them their freedom that is if the wealthy nations with large black populations really give a hoot. Obama our first black President should have advised a number of esteemed charities in the US to buy those girls’ freedom. No one has yet done anything. Not from even Nigeria which is wealthier than South Africa.
