GOSL must gag the Minister of National Integration or wind up his Ministry

Cabinet Ministers of Sri Lanka have no business to go off on a tangent expressing their rejected and defunct ideologies through Ministries they enjoy at the expense of the taxpaying public and based purely on compassionate grounds of the head of State, a sentiment that is not shared by any member of the common masses. Such Ministers have no business to go shooting their mouths off placing the country in an embarrassing situation. These Ministers entering from the back door tend to forget that they enjoy Ministerial portfolios and luxuries that come with it purely because of the personal handout that have established them in that position. If such is the situation, who is the Minister of National Integration to say that the election of Narendra Modi will bring a dark era to South Asia when the Indian populace has given a mandate that our Minister can only dream of acquiring in another birth? It is time the GOSL remind them that as people who have entered from the backdoor they have no business to voice their opinions because they are not the voice of the public of Sri Lanka. We do not want backdoor entrants to ruin Sri Lanka from within and destroy Sri Lanka’s international relations because of their reckless statements.

There are several other defunct and rejected Ministers who enjoy similar empathetic Ministerial handouts but their statements too make the public wonder what mischief they are upto as well. Their allegiance to the 13th amendment and taking every opportunity to argue in favor of its continuance does no good for the integrity of the country whatsoever.

It is opportune to question portfolios given to people who have a questionable history that necessitates the GOSL to also be alert to the damage they are likely to do with strategic portfolios handed over to them. It is no different to us continuously asking on what logic a minority political party leader can be given the portfolio of the Minister of Justice. The clear conflict of interest has emerged in countless examples of violations and breaches that have taken place including the audacity to take internal issues before foreign forums and lodging complaints with the UNHRC while enjoying Ministerial perks.

We do not need a National Integration Ministry

A Minister whose political views have been repeatedly rejected by the public, who has never won a significant election and sits in Parliament solely on the goodwill of the leader of the nation has no right to be making policy decisions on behalf of the State according to his whims and fancies and according to expired Marxist ideologies which even he does not follow. A look back at the statements made and his version of politically correct stands taken by this Minister makes us to wonder exactly for whose interest he is working and leads us to wonder whether he is aligned to the same secular, federal and devolution ideologies of those he is intimately associated with or following the policies of the Government?

As far as the language factor is concerned why has no one questioned the fact that if Sinhalese is an official language, every citizen of Sri Lanka should be conversant in Sinhala first and if not the State is bound to ensure that first, being the language spoken by the majority in Sri Lanka. It is the same policy applicable in all parts of the world as well. Why should it be different ONLY in Sri Lanka? Is it not the Sinhalese language that must be given prominence of place and priority ensuring that all citizens know the Sinhalese language before the majority is asked to speak in Tamil? Why have these authorities not looked at the simple logic of this?

Next is the issue of hate speech, the Minister’s pet hate has over time been Sinhalese Buddhists and he has taken every opportunity to throw pot shots at the Sinhalese Buddhists finding fault only with their actions instead of analyzing the actions of other communities. These biased stands are visible and well documented and the GOSL of Sri Lanka is requested not to play footsie in allowing such defunct politicians to prevail for in the end it is the GOSL that will end up having to dance to the music. A good example is how the Minister ever ready to find fault with the Sinhalese spoke not a word when the Buddhism and Buddha was laughed and ridiculed.

The most recent damaging outburst has been by the Minister of National Integration on the election of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. Despite being rejected by the public there are many ready to quote him as part of their own agenda that fits into the package of devolution. Thus, the Minister’s foolhardy statement has been quoted to showcase that Sri Lanka is not happy with Modi’s victory. That is far from so. Sri Lanka is happy that India’s balkanization efforts have been stalled as a result of Modi coming into power. It is a sentiment that the majority of Sri Lankan’s are happy about realizing that the Christian and Islamic extremist factors spearheaded and funded by the West was likely to lead to India’s division had Sonia and Congress returned to power. It is on this basis that the Sri Lankan Government and India are urged to look at the 13th amendment in a different framework taking to consideration the ground realities that are different to what originally India had propagated when it introduced the PC system via the Indo-Lanka Accord. India has lost its control and therefore the next option is to secure the safety of India while Sri Lanka must secure its own safety.

It was secularism that denied Hindus their rightful place in India and Modi’win has been to undo the injustices. Our Minister of Integration has therefore no business to be giving his two cents for his associations with NGOs have been to create the very same scenario for the majority race in Sri Lanka. It is on this grounds of unsuitability that the entire Ministry must be shut down.

A single Modi and a handful of nationalist Indian MPs are insufficient to stop India’s balkanization as it has been taken to levels that will shock India. The same can be said of Sri Lanka which is why backdoor MPs have been solicited to play mischief with people’s minds.

Therefore, the GOSl has only a few choices before them – gag all backdoor Ministers or close down the Ministry all together. The public does not favor maintaining Ministers who have no public appeal and have a history of being rejected. Sri Lanka does not need a Ministry of National Integration and Sri Lanka certainly does not need the present Minister.

The correct name should be Minister of National Disintegration.

But I think Vasu WON the vote and came to parliament. Vasu’s real worry is FAT LALITHA was unable to become the KING MAKER.

Modi cannot be trusted to save SL’s UNITARY status STILL. He is YET to prove me wrong. Inviting MR is only a SYMBOLIC gesture. While in Endia, Modi will FORCE MR to fully implement 13 amendment. FLATTERED by Modi’s invitation, MR might do it.

Correct, neither Modi nor MR can be trusted. Patriots can never sleep.

Prince Charles has been good with SL. But this is UNACCEPTABLE.

“London (AFP) – Russia lodged a furious protest with Britain on Thursday after Prince Charles reportedly compared President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler, with Moscow saying the comments were unworthy of a king-in-waiting.”

IF Russia has a backbone, HAMMER UK to smithereens.

EXCELLENT Wimal Weerawansa. He is GR’s man. At least you have a BACKBONE when all the other asslicking MFs shamelessly go with the DIRTY tide.

“Sri Lanka’s powerful Finance Secretary Dr. P B Jayasundera is to be removed from the additional post of Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development, according to sources.

Informed sources say that P.B. Jayasundera, who is also the Secretary to the Treasury and the Finance Ministry, will likely be removed from the position of Economic Development Secretary, in the wake of his ongoing conflict with Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

The vociferous Minister has on numerous previous occasions launched scathing attacks on Dr P B Jayasundera, and had even called him an “economic hitman.

The Minister’s latest salvo came during the Derana 360° programme on May 12 when he charged that Jayasundera is holding the government “hostage” and that he should be behind bars.

The Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities claimed that P.B. Jayasundera is wrongfully exercising executive powers and that Ministers are helpless in front of the Finance Secretary’s chair.

Minister Weerawansa had also attacked the government for not replacing Jayasundera with another financial expert and stated that failure to do so was due to the “brainlessness” of the government and its “biggest mistake.

The National Freedom Front (NFF) leader had continued his clash with the ruling party when his party unveiled 12 proposals at its annual convention and declared that they would quit the ruling alliance if the government does not adhere to them.

Meanwhile representatives of the NFF and Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), coalition partners of the ruling UPFA government, met yesterday at Minister Weerawansa’s official residence in Tunmulla.

Weerawansa and Mohamed Muzammil were among those present from the NFF while the JHU was represented by Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, MP Athuraliye Rathana Thero, Western Provincial Councilors Udaya Gammanpila and Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe.

Incidentally both parties were absent during the vote on the UNP-led Motion of No-confidence against the government, over its failure to take concrete steps to curb the drug trade in the country, and also during the vote on the Strategic Development Projects Acts.”

It is DISAPPOINTING that the NFF’s 12 point proposal DOES NOT INCLUDE the REPEALING of the 13th Amendment as its cornerstone … all fire and fury, but no substance!

Sri Lankan President agrees to discuss coalition party’s proposals for reforms

    ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 24, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has agreed to discuss the proposals for reforms submitted by a coalition party with the senior members of the main constituent party of the ruling alliance.

The leader of the government coalition party, National Freedom Front (NFF), Minister Wimal Weerawansa today handed over the party’s 12-point proposals for reforms to the President at the Temple Trees.

The President discussed the proposals in length with the NFF delegation and assured the delegation that he will further review them with the seniors of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in near future.

National Freedom Front spokesman Mohamed Muzammil said the President told the delegation that he believes constructive reforms need to take place for the public depending on the present situation in the country.

The NFF adopted the 12 proposals at the party’s second National Convention held earlier this month.

The NFF proposed the government to place a new draft constitution before the people ensuring the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka, national reconciliation, good governance, and widening of the democratic rights of the people.

The party strongly condemning the US-sponsored UN resolution on Sri Lanka adopted this year suggested the government not to allow any “international agents” be sent to Sri Lanka to investigate the alleged war crimes.

The NFF also proposed that the law of the land should be strictly implemented irrespective of the position of political parties and the death penalty should be implemented for those who will be found guilt with drug related offences.

During the meeting, the NFF delegation has also pointed out the economic problems the public facing currently to the President, the spokesman said.

The NFF delegation was represented by the leader, Minister Wimal Weerawansa, member of politburo deputy Minister Weerakumara Dissanayake, former minister Piyasiri Wijenayake, former MP Jayantha Samaraweera, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council member Deepal Gunasekara and the spokesman Mohamed Muzammil.

    The NFF’s 12 point proposals:

    1) Although Sri Lanka has been able to defeat LTTE terrorism, she has failed to take decisive and meaningful political and constitutional measures to defeat separatism and racism. Hence having been convinced properly of the emerging new Tamil Eelam operations at present; a new draft constitution has to be placed before the people ensuring the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka, national reconciliation, good governance, widening of the democratic rights of the people. the new draft constitution after due dialogue with the people and incorporating the necessary changes in consequence to such dialogue, actions should be taken to transform into the supreme law of Sri Lanka and for this purpose it is proposed in this National Convention that the recommendations placed before the country by the Buddhist Renaissance Committee should also be taken into consideration.

    2) We in this 2nd National Convention of the National Freedom Front strongly condemn “the 2014 American Resolution” passed against Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and challenge its legality and morality as it was passed against international standards at the Geneva Human Rights Council. Also we propose in this National Convention that none of the international agents be sent to Sri Lanka to investigate the so called war crimes shall be allowed to enter our motherland.

    3) This National Convention also proposes that no investigation or inquiry should be held due to undue international influence other than what has already been initiated in accordance with the Constitution of Sri Lanka and the national legal system. Also it is proposed in the name of reconciliation and devolution of power no intervention of external state parties or other parties including South Africa shall be considered as a facilitator.

    5) This National Convention also proposes that the law of the land should be strictly implemented irrespective of the position of political parties and leaders of nongovernmental organizations and all those parties who are engaged in spreading separatist ideology against the Constitution of Sri Lanka and engaged in clandestine military operations and those who deal with international organization against Sri Lanka.

    6) This Convention further proposes to the Government to ban forthwith all operation of foreign funded fundamentalist religious organizations which pose severe threat to the coexistence and peace among diverse ethnic communities and also to implement the law of the land against any form of organizations that operate against the existing religious coexistence and peace among the nation.

    7) This National Convention further proposes that while ensuring the massive achievement in the infrastructure and urban development sector, substantial financial allocation should be made to establish an industrial system to produce marketable consumer products and for that purpose to introduce financial tools to obtain the contribution of private sector. As a first step towards achieving that objectives we propose to the Government that a national policy should be implemented forthwith in order to establish industries which produce milk powder, sugar and rice-flour and discouraging the importation of substitute food products for those food item, and in that process to give priority to the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

    8) While this National Convention appreciates the measures taken so far to preserve and protect the national institutional system as per the directives laid down in the Mahinda Chinthanaya; further proposes that all secretive measures to turn Mahinda Chinthanaya towards “Regaining Sri Lanka” should be defeated and as a first step, the transferring of farmers’ rights to seed to multi-national companies under the new Seed Act, weakening of local agro industry by offering tax concessions to rice importers, to multinational milk-powder importers and agro-chemical importing companies and thereby causing enormous irrevocable economic and bodily harm to farmers and to the environment should be halted forthwith; and adequate and tangible measures should be taken to suppress all economically suicidal acts committed by officials and politicians and by re-directing all financial concessions and funds currently being granted to multinational companies to farmer community by way of direct subsidies.

    9) This National Convention further proposes that having paid due attention to the deteriorating condition of moral and cultural values, to establish a broad-based council consisting of Most Venerable Mahanayaka Theros and other religious dignitaries, media personnel, educational and other state institutions; and to implement the recommendations to be made by such council and specifically to introduce legal reforms to stop spreading of large- scale gambling activities such as casino, online gambling alias electronic gambling and also not to offer any tax concessions to any investment which consists of large- scale gambling activities such as casino or any form of immoral activities.

    10) This National Convention further proposes that the proposed Free Trade Agreement with the Republic of China to be finalized and signed immediately and to present before the country a new strategic plan to produce a new generation of entrepreneurs by giving tax concessions, counseling and monitoring and providing low interest loan facilities in order to capture the opportunities created in the Chinese market for Sri Lankan products.

    11) It is proposed to strengthen the legal and administrative framework in order to ensure good governance and minimize frauds and corruptions and to ensure that the politicians and high ranking officials are directly accountable to the general public with transparency. In connection with this proposal, this National Convention further proposes to set up a secretariat to obtain public views on this matter and as the first step towards gaining public confidence to put in place a mechanism by which the general public will have unhindered access to declaration of assets and liabilities of politicians and high ranking state officials.

    12) This National Convention further proposes to form an efficient joint mechanism with Police and State Defense Forces under the existing legal framework to eradicate drug menace and related large-scale criminal activities committed by underworld hooligans and to implement capital punishment given to those who will be found guilt with drug related offences.
