From the next UNP government land, police and the 13th amendment would be fully implemented. The  leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremasinghe has promised the people of the North that under the next UP government land ,police and powers under the 13th amendment to the constitution would be fully implemented.

He had added that all people in the country should have a common law.The problems of the people in the North is different from the problems of people in the Sabaragamuwa. The Tamils and Muslims should enjoy equal privileges like the Sinhala people.

This is why UNP should NOT be allowed to win the election! Things will be MUCH WORSE unless UriNePee changes its ANTI-SL, ANTI-SINHALA views.

The Tamils and Muslims should enjoy equal RESPONSIBILITIES IN DEFENDING UNITARY SL like the Sinhala people.

Unless that happens they are not worthy of equal “privileges”.

I can’t think of ANY privilege Sinhala people have that Tamils and Muslims don’t have.

But Tamils and Muslims have MANY MANY privileges Sinhala people DON’T have.

e.g. The ability to colonize ALL the districts of the country.
e.g. The privilege to have their OWN RACIST laws like VESAWALAMI LAW and SHARIA LAW.
e.g. Escape criminal liability using RECONCILIATION even after KILLING hundreds of thousands of people!
e.g. Get back STOLEN gold and land!!

  2. Senevirath Says:

well said Lorenzo. they destroy Sinhala areas and we develop theirs

  3. Nanda Says:

Ruin-ill bugger is taking the advantage of Tamil mind and wants to win the maximum number of votes.

MR too will do this gradually and cunningly unless he is brought under control.
This is the easiest way to enjoy life and destroy the motherland.

  4. Vis8 Says:

Yikes! Ranil, sorry, but you need to separate your self-interests and Sri Lanka’s well-being from each other.

  5. SA Kumar Says:

See how UNP distorts the truth!

    The Island news Item:
“This week’s sudden directive that foreign nationals and organisations have to obtain Defence Ministry permission to visit the North clearly indicated that the government was preparing the ground to rig the next Presidential Election, the UNP charged yesterday.
Vice Chairman of the UNP Lakshman Kiriella told The Island that the new regulation was aimed at preventing unbiased foreign monitors from observing the presidential election.
“It is crystal clear that the UPFA government is creating a situation similar to that which existed in 2005. It could in the absence of independent election officials use the security forces and other resources at its command to prevent at least a section of the Northern people from exercising their franchise which would be disadvantageous to the Joint Opposition’s Common candidate. Every vote will count since the anti Rajapaksa vote was increasing by the day,” MP Kiriella said.
Kirialle said the new restriction curtailing freedom of movement was the first of several that would follow with many peace loving members of the Tamil diaspora preparing to return to their land of birth having fled the country during the war years.”

It seems like that Nariella has conveniently forgot that it was Velu who asked Northerners to boycott the 2005 presidential election. As I remember only one Northerner voted and that also was for Ranil.
Tigers later chopped the hands of the solitary voter for going against their order.

Jayalalithaa Gets Bail, Likely to Leave Bangalore Prison Tomorrow: 10 Latest Developments

New Delhi: J Jayalalithaa, arrested three weeks ago, is likely to leave a prison in Bangalore tomorrow. The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was granted bail by the Supreme Court today on medical grounds.

Here are the 10 latest developments:

    1. Ms Jayalalithaa, 66, followed the Supreme Court’s directive and issued a statement this evening, urging the adoring workers of her party, the AIADMK, to remain calm and not resort to violence, as they have in recent weeks.

    2. She was convicted by a Bangalore court on September 27 for collecting land, gold and other assets vastly exceeding her income in a case that had dragged on for nearly two decades.

    3. She was sentenced to four years in jail; she has appealed against her conviction and sentence in the Karnataka High Court. (Also read: How Jayalalithaa’s 18 Year-Long Trial Ended in 7 Minutes)

    4. The Supreme Court today asked her lawyers to ensure that all paperwork for her appeal is completed by December 18, or her bail could be cancelled.

    5. “If the paperwork is not filed within two months, then we won’t give you even a single day more,” the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu said.

    6. The top court said it will then ask the Karnataka High Court to decide her appeal within three months to ensure a faster trial than the current case, which dragged on for nearly two decades.

    7. Following her conviction, Jayalalithaa, who heads the AIADMK, was obliged by law to step down as Tamil Nadu chief minister. She was replaced by loyalist O Panneerselvam at a swearing-in ceremony where many Cabinet members sobbed into handkerchiefs in an emotional display of fidelity.

    8. Outside her famous Poes Garden residence in Chennai today, hundreds of supporters danced joyously, shouting “Amma, Amma” in the pouring rain. (Read more…)

    9. Her case was transferred from Tamil Nadu to adjacent Karnataka in 2001 to ensure her political clout would not influence her trial.

    10. Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK is the third-largest party in Parliament, an accomplishment owed partly to her schemes that entitle people in Tamil Nadu to free grinders, laptops and more.

  8. Raj Says:

    Ananda-USA,
But she has been given bail on conditions, and only to allow her to prepare and produce documents for her appeal. Am I correct?

  9. Ananda-USA Says:

    Raj,

You are correct, but has she has already presented to court, in excrutiating detail, all that can be said in her defense during the last 18 years.

This sentence was supposed to be the FINAL sentencing, but yet here she is out on bail contesting that FINAL verdict.

When do appeals end in India, and does the appeal require her presence outside on bail?

What does she hope to do outside that her lawyers cannot do for her while she is in prison? I KNOW what she can do: she can orchestrate political pressure on the judiciary, police and local government officials and those of the Union Govt, she can destroy evidence, she can hide her assets, and she can bribe officials much more easily while she is out on bail. I hope the authorities are keeping her under observation to detect and gather evidence of further wrongdoing.

Something SMELLS to High Heaven! Let us wait and see what transpires.
