Is this the solution?

The news that a group of monks, representing the Ravana Balaya raided the office of the Chairman, Foreign Employment Bureau (FEB) on the 16th of October questioning the Chairman on his failure to protect the Sri Lankan migrant labour force in the Middle East,  begs the question Is this the solution?” . The Convener of the Ravana Balaya, Ven. Ittakande Saddhatissa Thero, claimed that our labor force in the Middle East are ill-treated, harassed, sexually and physically abused on a daily basis and claims the Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau (FEB), Mr. Amal Senalankadhikara is responsible.

It is very true that all these allegations of abuse are true – if not for all the migrant workers, for at least some. The simplest solution will be  to stop our women from going for work to Middle East.  Why send them and ask the Middle East people to behave? Why not ask our men in this island to take over their proper duty of earning and providing for the family?

Allah says in the Quran: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means.”  (Sura 4: verse 34) Allah created the men to be the wage earners and women to be looked after by them. When we reverse the purpose of the creation, no wonder pandemonium prevails.

Our countrymen are famous for this sort of convoluted solution. If they are worried about the number of animals being slaughtered for food, why not ask the majority, the Buddhist people to stop eating meat? Rather they will attack the butchers.

When we have so many crimes committed under the influence of liquor, instead closing down  liquor dens they blame the police, people and others. Cigarettes are sold – albeit with warnings, as if any smoker is not aware of them! – and then spend millions on treating people affected by smoking.

When a politician attacks a doctor, the doctors go on strike penalizing the innocent public rather than refusing to treat any politician or their families.

Instead of having proper discussions on matters pertaining to unions, the government waits for them to go on pela paliya and strikes and then punishes them by sending the police and thugs to attack them.  We have so many jobless ministers, with no portfolios, enjoying the perks from the government but doing nothing useful wasting their time twiddling their thumbs; why not employ them gainfully to solve these problems beforehand?

The list goes on and on. Garbage, Dengue, water scarcity all have simple straight forward solutions, but no, we will take the deviant way out – and of course, miserably fail.

So the merry go round goes on and on. Is there no sane person in this island of ours at all?

  1. Wickrama Says:

If allah has created the men to protect women, why are the men who abuse women not punished? Is allah dead and gone after this flawed “creation” of man and woman?

  2. Lorenzo Says:

“Allah says in the Quran: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means.” (Sura 4: verse 34)”

We can see this in action in,

    1. ISLAMIC STATE which is run by the letter of the Sharia law
    2. the way Allah’s apostles treated MALALA YUSUFZAI (SL should invite her to visit a mosque in Kalmunai)
    3. The way BOKO HARAM follow this dictate
    4. the way Hack-him caused the suicide of his former lover
    5. the way women are regularly abused and killed in Islamic countries
    6. the way Sharia Law treats women as animals and polygamy which is barbaric
    etc.

But I AGREE with you on this

“The simplest solution will be to stop our women from going for work to Middle East.”

AND send all middle eastern men in SL back to Arabia. Send SL women BACK to SL and send Muslim men back to Arabia. Problem solved.

Don’t be selective. Lets do the COMPLETE SOLUTION.

Allah created Mareena Thaha Reffai with very very small brain.

She is telling women who have been raped, ” don’t go outside your house without a muslim man protecting you”.

She is telling Muslim men are the protectors of all the women in the world ! No wonder Muslim population growth is so high. Allah at least knows one job properly.

Anyway , she is telling some truth, when she claims,
“We have so many jobless ministers, with no portfolios, enjoying the perks from the government but doing nothing useful wasting their time twiddling their thumbs; why not employ them gainfully to solve these problems beforehand?
The list goes on and on. Garbage, Dengue, water scarcity all have simple straight forward solutions, but no, we will take the deviant way out – and of course, miserably fail ”

But her protector Minister HackHim is heading the justice ministry and cheating LOW College exam, helping drug importers ( created by Allah) to make money and add to this miserable failures.

  4. Nanda Says:

In short, Allah is responsible for all the problems because he created these evil Men.

  5. rohanana Says:

Marina I believe you are a medical doctor and needs to be intelligent to achieve that unless you have done that in other means. Most of your articles doesn’t show you as a intelligent person. I was a Colombo Airport Manager for nearly 4 years and in that time do you have any idea how many Sri Lankan women were brought back pregnant from Middle East? Do you know that over 200 dead bodies of Sri Lankans are brought back to Sri Lanka every year from Middle East? This was the latest news which every government in the last two decades have been trying to hide as they do not want to loose the foreign exchange they get every year by scaring people going there. There were no inquiries conducted or any compensation paid for these poor victims and they have no means to file cases as most of them are ignorant of their rights according to the UN charter. Do you remember what happened to Rizana? Have you ever supported to save that poor 15 year old girl? Or did you think her also as another toy for the Muslim men? So Marina as I have told you before please do your research before opening your mouth or writing as you are making yourself a fool writing like this?

  6. Nanda Says:

Let me post the last letter written by Rizana. Is this her fault or the fault of the Sri Lankan government or the fault of the Saudi murderous government , or the Fault of the murderous Koran ? Readers shall decide , not AllaH.

It was in Tamil language and here is the English translation of that letter.

If the message of mercy reached to our doorsteps, Why should I be hanged on the earth that gave birth to peace? O’ all those who were stricken in grief for my sake…. Peace be upon You All

I, as per Allah’s wish, being born in a very poor family, came out of the shore as a person out of thousands of people subjected to social injustice. The struggle that my father went through to enliven us by cutting firewood, The helplessness of my starving brothers and sisters and the worry of my mother to educate and bring us up to a greater standard of life compelled me to compel my parents to send me abroad and thus I came.

Rather than trying to verify who and how I was sent here as a teenager, take a message from what s being said through my death and prevent emergence of many other Rizanas. Please do not blame my parents. But pray for them. And also please lend your helping hand to many other helpless parents.

There were enough scholars and organizations to advise that Muslim ladies should not go out without a Mahram (blood relative). But had they come forward to advise the males on how to look after the women as guardians, situations of thousands of helpless’ like me would not have been left unattended

Why would I kiss the rope of the guillotine in the land where the message of mercy descended if those so called great people brought the message of mercy to our doorsteps, I mean, the message of mercy brought by the Mercy to mankind? Why didn’t those who spread the message of Islam little by little, bring it completely?

It is pathetic for innocents like me when I heard those who were aggrieved on my matter and those who strives for my release being asked ‘ why you raise voice against Islamic Sharia Law’, It is very unfortunate as there was none to raise voice from those who knew the Sharia law when I was informed that no financial support can be rendered to appear on my behalf.

None could present with original documents to prove my true age citing that my passport and the birth certificate were fakes. Not even by those who were on joy ride on my behalf. There was no one to lend me a helping hand when I was stranded in a foreign country. If there was one, I could have been released through the sharia law that you are boasting of. Why didn’t any of those who learnt sharia law appear for me who did not know Arabic , leaving me the only option of the Malayali interpreter who did not know proper tamil ? And I went through thorough beating by the ‘Madam’ and the policemen. Isnt it a fact that my sick father and the mother stricken by poverty do not have knowhow and the financial ability to facilitate one who speak on my behalf.

You may not be able to find an attorney to appear for me. I am not worried over it. But make sure that this would not happen any further. But Bring up a system that look after those who leave the shores and that gives legal advice.

Women are considered as equal as eyes in dignity under the shadow of Islam. It is the same that she receives in the family and the society. Say it loudly that it is not allowed to go without ‘Mahram’ not only across the sea but also across the door. It is the day that the message of Islam becomes completely received. Had our society that spends annually hundreds of thousands for un obligatory hajjs and Umras, given a helping hand to my brother and sister, will a situation like dying of infant by a teenager like me occur?

Today, my death notice comes amidst challenges faced by our sisters. How can we face the society when we could not find solutions for own problems at home? If there are any lessons in my life and also in my death, please pave a way through it to hundreds of poor girls like me. That is my message to you.

I am your sister who bids adieu

    Rizana nafeeq

  7. Nanda Says:

It should be reminded to Mareena Thahai Reffai did not show any mercy when Sinhala readers repeatedly ask her to condemn Saudi (who murdered this innocent girl at a latter stage), in the name of a evil book called Koran.

The only person tried hard in Sri Lanka was a single UNPier.

This witch of a Doctor has no right to criticize Sri Lanka on any damn thing ! Just shut up ! Ban your Koran !

  8. Lorenzo Says:

Mareena, you lied about Sura 4 Verse 34. It has more to it than you pasted. Why did you omit the highlighted part?

“4:34 Husbands should take full care of their wives, with the bounties God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money. Righteous wives are devout and guard what God would have them guard in the husbands’ absence. If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them of the teaching of God, then ignore them when you go to bed, then beat them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great.”

How can we trust you if you lie about the Koran? Koran tells Muslim men to take their Muslim wives to bed and BEAT them! When pasting a verse, please paste the FULL verse.
