Toronto SLSA would like to take this opportunity to thank all participating teams and friends at the annual 2014 Sri Lankan Students Alliance Battle Of The Alliances and everyone who came out to our TSLSA cricket after party at Cafe La Roche lounge on Saturday, August 30th 2014. This would not have been possible without the support from Jr. & Sr. TSLSA boards, our loyal members of York/Ryerson/Mac/UofT/Windsor/Western/Seneca/SLOYA/Thunderbay/Carlton/Waterloo SLSAs and their respective heads, as well as our first community team Brampton Sura Pappaz to enter the tournament this year. We would specially thank and recognize our events coordinators Joanne R., Prathap P., Gaya N., Azam M. of MCC, Chathushka P., Riyaz R of CSLA., DJ Leo, Heshani M of RUSLA., Kaumadhi De Z of MacSLSA., Kalakavaya team and our generous sponsors like; Sri Lankan Air Lines, CGMA, M & M Twins LTD., Bellana’s Kitchen, Global Business Network, Kala Kavaya, Yathra News Paper, SL Reporter.,  Prathap P. of TSLSA, Gaya N. of TSLSA, Nirosh K. of SLOYA, Dilshan K of TSLSA, Edward F. of SLCAO, Ilanko of PBCC, Ryiaz R., Oshan F. of WUSLSA and Mahinda G.

York SLSA were crowned as the new 2014 SLSA battle of the Alliances champions with runners up trophy going to the inaugural UofT Scarborough SLSA, 3rd Place was captured by Sri Lankan Ottawa Youth Alliance the former three time champions of the tournament.  Female  match was won by SLSA EAST defeating the SLSA West.
We would also like to recognize and thank Member of Provincial Parliament Bas Balkissoon (Scarborough Rouge River), Toronto Mayoral Candidate Dewitt Lee and Family, Federal Liberal Candidate Joseph Angalono and family, Sri Lanka Air Lines Manager Lalith K. and acting Consul General to Sri Lanka Mr. Godawitta who were in attendance at the 2014 SLSA battle of the alliances. Since the inception of the SLSA battle of the alliances in August of 2008 by SLSA founder Prathap Perera this was by far one of the well attended and organized SLSA Battle Of The Alliances that will carry the momentum to build a united prosperous Sri Lankan Canadian student graduate community.

Results and Awards:
1st Place Result: York University SLSA posted 44 RUNS in 3.3 overs to defeat UofT’s teams total of 43 runs to capture the SLSA trophy, gifts, plus cash money. This was UofT Scarborough SLSA’s inaugural year at the tournament along with Windsor, Western, Thunderbay/Lakehead, and Centennial SLSA’s.
3rd Place Result: Defending champions Sri Lankan Ottawa Youth Alliance SLOYA was able to defeat McMaster’s total of 13 runs by scoring 15 runs in their super over to take home 3rd place and gifts.
Female match: East SLSA team captained by Shanthi Perera won their match against West SLSA team to capture first place medals and gifts.

TSLSA Temple Cleanup: On Saturday Toronto SLSA Junior Board along with community members helped cleanup the exterior of Toronto Mahavira. TSLSA team was able to fill a construction recycling bin with garbage and debris found around the temple premises.  Temple cleanup was followed by a BBQ get-together at a near by park for all volunteers. TSLSA is planning to hold similar cleanups and school supply drive charity projects and social events in the near future.

Sri Lankan Students Alliance [SLSA] was founded in September of 2003 at York University and has now grown to over 20 Sri Lankan Student Alliances Canada wide.  Toronto SLSA established in 2011 act as an independent parent body providing much needed support and services to Canadian Sri Lankan students, alumnis and the Sri Lankan diaspora at large by promoting peace unity and one love.  For more details or membership inquiries please contact us via:
