I feel sorry for him, says President; ‘now Ranil has Maithree at home and out!’

SLFP General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena has fallen into the opposition’s trap the same way Sarath Fonseka did in 2010, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.

Today our General Secretary is leaving the party to contest the upcoming Presidential election from the United National Party. I feel sorry for him,” he said.

President Rajapaksa added that he is contesting the Presidential election this time with a candidate who joined the UNP from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Today Ranil Wickremesinghe has a Maithri at home and also outside,” he said. The President’s comment comes in the wake of Sirisena’s announcement that he would leave the SLFP to contest the upcoming Presidential election as a common candidate.

Addressing indigenous medical practitioners at Temple Trees yesterday, President Rajapaksa said the main demand of the opposition is the abolition of the Executive Presidency.

The President said he appointed a Parliamentary Select Committee to abolish the Executive Presidency two years ago although no one from the opposition paid any heed to this committee.

The opposition which is clamouring for the abolition of the Executive Presidency does not support the Parliamentary Select Committee,” he said.

President Rajapaksa said if the need is to abolish the Executive Presidency, it can be done through Parliament by a two thirds majority. The opposition is trying to paint a gloomy picture of the country and the educated people will never fall into this trap. The progressive march started by the SLFP led by former Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike to establish an indigenous economy to suit the country’s culture, faced a number of hurdles throughout history.

The SLFP faced challenges in 1977 and thereafter the leaders who destroyed the country’s culture and sold state assets have started shedding crocodile tears again. These elements that are trying to take the service personnel and the government to the UNHRC for eradicating terrorism have started shedding crocodile tears for the country,” he added.

    Not a wise move president.

This man was the GENERAL SECRETARY of SLFP and he KNOWS internal stuff. A mudslinging competition will only ruin the SLFP.

Already he said what happened to his MEDICINE POLICY and ATTEMPTS TO STOP ALCOHOL AND DRUGS.

People KNOW what happened to the TAMIL NADU drug dealers, Pakistani drug dealers with 200kg heroin, Orukodawatte drug dealers and the other one.

Gamaralalage Maithripala Sirisena is contesting presidential election as proxy holder or proxy candidate for Ranil on condition that Ranil will be given the post of prime minister with full executive powers of the president transferred to him immediately after winning.
Proxies are agency agreements, the voting member being the principal and the proxy-holder, the agent. In some ways, the proxy is much like a limited power of attorney in that it empowers the agent to act as if he or she was the principal at the relevant meeting at which the proxy is for.
It is unfortunate that Gamaralalge Sirisena does not understand the fact that contesting as a proxy candidate is a very dangerous move for the country.

YES! Whatever the outcome of the Presidential Election, the President and the Nation stands to gain by REPEALING the 13th Amendment, and DISSOLVING the Provincial Councils NOW!

MUCH of the criticism of MR by his own allies will vanish overnight, leaving the rats who deserted the ship stranded in the sea, and MR can enjoy the show as they dog-paddle back to the UPFA!

The only DOWNSIDE to MR is that many of his stalwarts occupying Provincial Council jobs will lose them too. But, they will lose those jobs anyway if the Opposition prevails.

Therefore, the President should SEIZE this OPPORTUNITY to REPEAL the 13th Amendment, DISSOLVE the Provincial Councils, and introduce a new System of Administration based on DISTRICTS governed by government appointed Government Agents.

DO IT FAST, DO IT NOW!

    CARPE’ DIEM .. I say!

President Rajapaksa said if the need is to abolish the Executive Presidency, it can be done through Parliament by a two thirds majority

Mahinda !!- Why didn’t you get rid of the EP and the 13th when you had the chance with the 2/3rd?

In my comments all the way, I said and urged MR to forget the Presidential election, but continue for the next two years remaining for his Presidency and concentrate on “Reorganizing” and “Rebuilding” the Governing system, listening to wiser counsel. And also I urged him to “disassociate” from all the “BALAYAS” and free himself from this “Band” of thugs, drug barons etc. No one in the country grudged and complained against the infrastructure and certain development work he undertook; but his way of governance with the close association of “unwanted criminal” elements and other “vultures” brought quite a lot of frustrations among most of the SLFP party long standing and die hard central core. That is why I said, at times that MR was blind folded and led stray by this band of “BALAYS”. I of course got brick bats; yet I am happy I was able to FORESEE things and give warning signals by way of comments through this page. As someone said, his “media” personnel should have at least cared to go through LANKA WEB, they would have been able to see through things much earlier and corrective steps would have been taken. MR should have gone through his full term in office instead of this “foolish move”. I still say it.

I again say: ASEVANACH BALANAG. This is the result.

    NMY
Would be so kind to inform the Election Commissioner of your findings re Proxy Holder/Agreement

Prior to that may i suggest that you read the Report of the Commonwealth Monitoring Team Report of the Presidential Election of 2010.

    – I don’t know what our President is talking about.

All those left are “educated” are lead by Dr. Mervyn Silva ?

May I be permitted a short comment which is in line with what Douglas has elaborated on.

There is a streak of vulgarity within Mahinda himself which he cannot undo.

I am referring to his statement dragging the lady “Maithree” into the equation with unpalatable innuendos.

On a previous occasion he made a vulgar subtle reference to Ranil pointing to him as a “sterile” male. He said not only did Ranil NOT have children but that he COULD NOT have children. Such statements coming from the Head of State are not only totally out of taste but unecoming and condemnable as well. By his or her position a Head of State is the ‘supreme TEACHER’ of the nation. I recall the epithet ‘VATTI AMMA’ used with regard to Chandrika who employed ‘street’ language in her public speeches.

  9. mohandev Says:

Ironically ghosts of Sirmavo has risen from her grave as vendetta against UNP dictators led by JRJ in ’77 to decimate the left over UNP remnants of that evil empire that was created under their bahubootha cursed constitution in ’77 for their eternal survival with regular change of constitutions to satisfy the whims & fancies of UNP traitors & sure they couldn’t introduce a ’18th’ styled amendment during the late eighties to extend power for JRJ to rule until his death, thanks to southern & northern terrorism that beat UNP on its track & the rest is history.

Once again UNP proved to its long suffering voters that UNP is totally bankrupt & have no leader to challenge MR & worst is that they have no back bone to ask its voters to vote for another SLFPer as the alternative candidate in utter desperation & admission of their jealousy of the rajapakse clan. Whether we will have a new govt after the budget vote or a new president first will be depend on how much of dollars that have been poured in to this country for regime change led by tiger led diaspora & NGO mafia funded by foreign govt agencies to ensure a puppet govt is installed in SL as quickly as possible.

  10. mohandev Says:

Perhaps MR can choose to postpone or stop early presidential elections soon after all the bad blood in his fold has resigned or sitting with the UNP. At that point he can people friendly reforms with a genuine shake off of rotters who have contributed partly this current fiasco & go before the people stronger by devolving genuine power & winning the hearts & minds of true patriotic forces as well as genuine minority leaders of sri lanka but not to satisfy diaspora by any means

  11. Leela Says:

Sirisena’s son is no different to Mervin’s. Read about what Sirisena did when his son Dhaham got in to trouble in http://dbsjeyaraj.com/dbsj/archives/17238 .

  12. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

    This is reply to Marco
“Would be so kind to inform the Election Commissioner of your findings re Proxy Holder/Agreement”
    Maco
Everyone read Sirisena’s press statement, and he says he is appearing in the contest to win and hand over the power to Ranil. So It is a black and white proxy agreement and the Election Commissioner can not do anything about it.

  13. Christie Says:

History repeats. SF was paid and funded by India, Indians, Indian colonial parasites, same goes for SWRD. Chandrika is running the errands for these Indian interests. When it comes to Mahinda the Indian interests failed. It is these Indian interests that supported Mahinda over Ranil in the first place. Mahinda did not become a puppet of India so India keep changing the puppet.

  14. Independent Says:

    mohandev,

Is it NGO Mafia arranged the President to call for elections when there are two more years to go ? This turmoil is cause by and initiated by the President. Otherwise Ratana Thero and Patali still there providing him protection.

It is the NGO Mafia who arranged to chase out Patali from Ministry of Power and hurt him too. NGO Mafia has more influence on the government than the opposition because the government is surrounded and controlled by a lot of thieves. We must accept that fact.

I agree with you, the best way to do now is continue with the term and let them hang and die. Call back JHU and rebuild a powerful government , in tow years we can win again surely.

  15. Lorenzo Says:

I wonder what the NORWEGIAN FUNDED NGO – Pathfinder Foundation is up to these days.

    It is a pro-govt. NGO.

  16. Independent Says:

In the end what matters is the popularity. Not 13A, not whether Mervyn is better than Maithree and people will not listen not NGO mantra. Looking at most of the media President is getting unpopular day bay day.
He must act now to mend old relationships and strengthen the government both politically and morally. Stop stupid election for now.
