Demolition man Sirisena offers to form national govt out of 60+ opposition members

Hot News From Sri Lanka

Opposition Common Presidential Candidate Maithripala Sirisena received a rousing welcome when he arrived at the UNP headquarters, Sirikotha, yesterday and claimed that he is there to demolish Mahinda Rajapakse government.

Sirisena, accompanied by UNP national leader Ranil Wickremeisnghe, Chairman of the Leadership Council Karu Jayasuriya, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa, Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake and several other MPs, addressed a gathering at Sirikotha for the first time.

Addressing UNP electoral organisers and members, former SLFP General Secretary Sirisena, said that a national government would be formed after his victory at the January 08 poll for a period of 100 days because he expected to complete the implementation of the much-needed constitutional reforms by then.  However, He did not elaborate how his national government gets two third majority to ratify the constitutional amendment in the parliament. He said that the UNP and SLFP defectors would lead that government set up for 100 days and other political parties, too, would be invited to join it.

However, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe further elaborated to say the new government that would be installed in January would be made up of all political parties and the ministers selected from those parties.

He said this government will implement all the essential reforms and added that they could go their separate ways and contest the general elections based on their ideological policies

Sirisena also opened an election operation office at Sirikotha to handle the Opposition’s presidential election campaign.

However this ceremony took an unexpected turn when UNP General Tissa Attanayake  strike a discordant note. He said if one thought the party could make any headway without its colour or symbol or candidate at an election, one was sadly mistaken.

A visibly with resentful tone  Attanayake said the real UNPers had been short changed at all levels of the party and he, too, had not been spared. He was ready to give up the post of General Secretary any time he declared, stressing that the interests of UNPers had to take precedence over everyone else’s. He warned Sirisena that the UNP should not be taken lightly.

Attanayake is one of the UNP seniors who wanted to field a separate UNP presidential candidate.

Deputy Leader, Sajith Premadasa, said whoever entered the presidential fray it was the UNP supporters who had to bear the brunt of the campaign and their interests had to be looked after. ‘Our dream is to have a President from the UNP elected—a Green President ” giving an early warning shot to Sirisena that he will not be entertained in the post longer than 100 days after abolition of EP.

Outside Sirikitha people are concerned that If executive powers are handed over to Wickremesinghe there is no guarantee that he will not move  heaven and earth to reverse the gains achieved by the Security Forces as He has intransigently pursued an anti-Sri Lankan policy, kow-towing to David Cameron and the West. Wickremesinghe and his party member haven’t yet apologized to the nation for ridiculing our heroic forces and selling the nation to Prabhakaran when he was in power last.

IF he wins, MOST SLFPers will join him. This is what happens ALWAYS.

MR took over the SLFP from Bandaranaikes after winning.

And the parliamentary elections are due BEFORE 2016. So it will be a NEW parliament.

So 60+ EXISTING MPs is NO issue at all.

  2. Christie Says:

What is India’s intentions? Where was Chandrika, was she under the tables at Sirikotha.

  3. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

We are all getting stressed out on this subject. I wonder whether everybody in this forum could remember the Grand Pass Ra Kade virtually behind Ceylon Tobacco ? The Sakkili people on pay day visit the place and there is a lot of noise, and sometimes a little violent activity amongst them. That is how the term, Ra kade chandiya was coined.

Similarly, Sirisena is warming up with a lot of “Word Play ” raising his fists and talking of DEMOLITION etc. He says he will form a new Government with All parties. This is ‘all ocean and no ship ‘ or putting it colloquially, ” all fart and no shit ”. Big talk long before even the ring is cleared, and the fighting parties arrived at the scene. He has become a Beravaya, drumming very loud, like the plantation 3.00am drum beat to wake everybody up. UNP, and Bandit Queen, Sirisena va Gonata andagana. Sirisena dang Ra Kade Chandiya thamai. Tiss Atanayake is waiting to kick his as out, after his dream of handing over to Runil is complete. THIS IS A SURE FIRE EVENT.

MR will be laughing his way onto the presidential chair, while all these chandiyas have their tail between their two legs.

  4. Ananda-USA Says:

What an ABSOLUTE MUTT Sirisena is, to join these folks when they say “Our dream is to have a President from the UNP elected—a Green President” giving an early warning shot to Sirisena that he will not be entertained in the post longer than 100 days after abolition of EP!

So, his SOLE PURPOSE is to EJECT MR, abolish the EP, and hand over power to Ranil and the UNP?

Isn’t that the role of a Ponnaya?

The people of Sri Lanka will laugh this guy out of the Presidential Election to scrape Coconuts in his kitchen!

  5. Sooriarachi Says:

It would be an uphill task for Mr Sirisena to defeat the man who rescued Sri Lanka from the LTTE terrorists and regain for all its citizens the right to lead a life free from raw terror, much worse than the ISIS in the Middle East. The support Mr Sirisena has been promised by Chandrika, Ranil, the Bar Association (which is no longer a neutral body, since the time a UNP politician was its president, and is currently operating like another blindly anti-Rajapakse NGO), and also possibly the tacit support of Tiger proxy party the TNA, will only have a negative impact on Mr Sirisena’s ability to get elected. He may perform better if these parties are his opponents rather than supporters.

Today Singapore and South Korea are hailed as developed democracies only because they had authoritarian but patriotic leaders to raise their countries to such heights. Therefore, I believe a developing nations may need elected but authoritarian leaders, if they are to achieve developed status within a reasonable period. I believe India has got one now and for Sri Lanka, President Rajapakse could play this role, as he is patriotic and very much focussed on economic development and peaceful coexistence.

    Lorenzo
Maithree said he will transfer his executive powers to Ranil in 100 days. Tissa Attanayake didn’t take his word for he has now realized Chandrika, the ace liar is Mai3s puppeteer. So, he had warned Mai3 not to take UNP lightly, and not jusst that Tissa wanted Mai3 to guarantee that RanilW will be appointed executive PM in 24 hours. Only stupid would expect SLFPers to vote for a man who promised to appoint RanilW as EPM.

I thought Mahinda would win with 52% of the popular vote in the first round. Now, I calculate its going to be much higher.

  7. Independent Says:

    Leela,
Are you shy to use the word “My3” instead of “Mai3” or is there any other problem using the correct initials? Don’t be shy Mai3 is wrong in pronunciation.

  8. Lorenzo Says:

    Leela,

It is all about COMPARISON. That’s how poeple vote.

Hey Folks don’t day dream Sirisena Appaya will never win – period. He will be like a robot. One remote with Chandrika the Bandit Queen as Susantha said and the other one with Ranil our Gay boy. The people of Sri Lanka has rejected Run-Nil 29 times and why anyone should give him on the 30th time? What is the purpose Appaya contesting the elections if Run-Nil is popular? Bullshit! All these parasites will be no longer on the scene on January 9th.They have to hide behind their foreign embassies.

When Premadasa died the whole country was celebrating because he used to call Prabakaran his brother and he was responsible for many innocent deaths. He sent innocent strikers home and he was acting like a gangster. Chandrika what she did when she was in power? she also was responsible for many deaths of innocent civilians and gave in to LTTE terrorists demands. Run-Nil what he did he gave in writing half of our beloved Motherland to the most ruthless terror organization in the world. All these guys were the friends of LTTE terrorists and still they were having contacts with them and they are asking our vote what a joke?

Come 9th of January these traitors will understand that the voter in this country cannot be bought for green dollars or for their bullshit promises. R.I.P for all the LTTE sympathizers and to the Sirisena Appaya. Nobody on earth can stop Mahinda’s VICTORY on 8th. That’s for 100% sure. Only leader with guts and a vision.

    Dear All
Did you notice the new concept introduce by the demolition man Sirisens on Corruption.

He says to combat corruption executive power of the president should be transferred to Prime Minister.

He should immediately inform Obama about his theory because President Obama has recently called the fight against corruption “one of the great struggles of our time.” The costs of corruption in the US are immeasurable – injustice, misallocation of resources, economic decay. Corruption affects a staggering number of livelihoods and lives and erodes the faith of citizens in their governments and in the rule of law. The United States views corruption as a growing threat to the national security of our country and allies around the world.

  11. Independent Says:

Obama himself is corrupt, otherwise cannot become the President of USA.
