I want entire Parliament to be a govt – Ranil -There is no need for a National Government if SLFP or UNP gets a clear majority- Opposition Leader

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday that he does not want to form a United National Party (UNP) government at the next general election and that he desires for the entire Parliament to be a government.
He said his desire is for the entire Parliament to be one government. “What we have done is to work together with all parties. In a way this is a challenge.
In a way it is an opportunity,” the UNP leader said at an event held at Royal College, Colombo.
“People ask me ‘are you going to form a UNP government? Are you going to form a UNP-SLFP government? Are you going to form an anti-Mahinda government?’ And my answer to all that is, no. I want the whole Parliament to be a government,” he said.
Wickramasinghe said he believes that all political parties have a duty by the people and that they are also responsible for the present political system, which allowed for various wrongdoings and malpractices.
“We made it a form of tribal warfare. And if we didn’t make the change, the tribal warfare would have devoured us,” he said.
He stated that the country’s people lost a lot during the war and lost another 5 years after it. Now the time has come to make up for what we lost, to ensure that in the next five years we put the country right.”
He said to provide Sri Lanka’s younger generation with a chance to build a life anew, the mindset of the people has to change.
“We have to think can we for five years being in different parties put the country first, work something out and at the end of the five years go back and contest and let the one who has the majority form the government and others go to the opposition?” he said.
The Parliament is expected to be dissolved on April 23 and a general election be held as promised in the 100 Days’ Program of the new government led by President Maithripala Sirisena.
In the run-up to the Presidential Election and after, the UNP leader had stated that the next general election will pave the way for a national government, comprising members of both the main political parties, the United National Party and Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
In the mean time the Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva told the Daily News during a recent interview that the concept of a National Government will come to play if there is no clear majority for the SLFP or for the UNP. At that time, that is a matter to be negotiated on a common program which should be acceptable for both parties. That is yet to be decided.
The next election would be fought by the two main political parties in Sri Lanka which are the SLFP and the UNP. Therefore, it all depends on the outcome. If the SLFP gets a clear majority, there is no need for a National Government. If the UNP gets a clear majority, there is no need for a National Government. But my view is that with the ground realities as at the moment, the SLFP and the UPFA can win the upcoming general election comfortably and we can form a stable government of our own.

ඈත අතීතය අමතක කොට මේ වස්න්තය උදාවූ හැටි අපි නැවත සිහිකරමු.
1. ජනාධිපති හදිසියේම ඇමෙරිකාවට යයි.

4. මෛත්‍රී පොදු අපේක්‍ෂක යා වෙයි.
5. ඉන් දියන් ආරක්ශක ලොක්කා එයි. දෙදෙනාම හමුවෙයි.
6. කොළඹ සිටි ලක්‍ෂ තුන හතරක දෙමළ ජනතාව එකාමෙන් එකමුතුවී , උදේ පාන් දර කොළඹ චන් දය දමා , එක් යාල්දේවී දුම්‍ රියකට සාඩින් තදකරා සේ තදවී , උතුරේ ගම්වලට ගොස් නැවතවරක් එහිදීද චන් දය දමා මෛත්‍රී දිනවති.
7. මෛත්‍රී දිනන්ටත් පෙර රනිල් ජනපති උදේ 4-5 හමුවී ජනපති හෙලිකොප්ටරයෙන් දකුණට පැන යයි. පරාජය පිලිගැනීමේ කතාවක්වත් නොකරයි.
8. ඇමරිකන් කුමන්ත්‍රණයේ ප්‍රථම පියවර වන දිනසීයේ වැඩපිළිවෙලට මහින් දගේ කැමැත්ත ඇතුව SLFP සහයෝගය දෙනබව කියයි.
9. මෛත්‍රී දිවුරුම් දුන් වහාම මහජනයා පත්කළ ආණ් ඩුවක් තිබිය දීම එය සතයකට නොසලකා, කිසිකෙනෙක් නොසිතූ පරිදි රනිලුත් දිවුරුම් දෙයි. මහජනයා පත්කළ ආණ් ඩුව පැන යති.
10. බැසිල් ඇමරිකාවට පැන යයි. එහේ යහතින් ඉඳියි.
11. මහින් ද හා මෛත්‍රී රහස් හමුවකින් පසු ඇමරිකන් කුමන්ත්‍රණයේ ප්‍රථම පියවර වන දිනසීයේ වැඩපිළිවෙල සහය දීමේ එකම අනුප්‍රාය ඇතිව SLFP නායකත්වය මහින් ද මෛත්‍රී දෙයි.
12. පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ බහුතරය, වෙන මොනම ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදි රටක වත් නොවූ පරිදි , ලොව ප්‍රථම වරට, මහින් ද හා මෛත්‍රී දෙදෙනෙකු ගේ ගිවිසුම පරිදි, විපක්‍ෂයවෙයි.
13. ඇමරිකන් කුමන්ත්‍රණයේ පළමුවන අය වැයෙන්ම රජය පරාජය කිරීමේ හැකියාවක් තිබියදීම, ඇමරිකන් කුමන්ත්‍රණයේ ප්‍රථම පියවර වන දිනසීයේ වැඩපිළිවෙල කිසිම විරුද්ධ්ත්වයක් විපක්‍ෂයෙන් නැති ව දියත් කරයි.

Independent I like your last line.Yes our Sinhalese are stupid because they believe every lie these UNP thugs were using all along. Yes! First investigate the coup orchestrated by Americans and the west to bring MY3 to power then we can do other things. JVP murderers have forgotten their killing field during the JVP Insurrection in 70’s & 80’s. Who killed Wijaya Kumaranatunga and other well know figures? They tell us to investigate what Rajapksa’s did and I tell the new Yahaplanaya to investigate JVP atrocities during 70’s & 80’s first.
Champaka blaming Rajapksa’s after working with them for ten long years. This shameful creature should be ashamed of himself for what he is. He is a sex maniac who cannot look after his family even. I read about him in the E News and I was shocked when I read his character certificate. He too is a paid agent of Americans. He is a frog who jumps from one place to another from the beginning of his political carrier. Before the new Govt investigate anyone or anything they must do is to investigate these Yahapalana pretenders. Anyhow my advise is for these frogs is, just stay there for 100 days enjoy the privileges and bugger off.

Do not believe anything anyone said including me. Just think and write something useful which can solve this antho jata bahi jata.

with respect, with your 13 stage progression of the ‘Sri Lankan Spring’, would it please be possible not to make conclusions based on events that may or may not be interrelated and then try to convince the reader that he would be really stupid not to connect the dots to obtain the picture?
It seems a lot of your statements are going along the lines of ‘here are some facts, they are related in this way…therefore don’t be a fool, accept my conclusion without too much justification on my part’!!
A bit like those guys who told the emperor anyone who does not see his nice outfit, but sees him naked is stupid…
I don’t mean to be offensive, please don’t take it in that way. I admire and respect your approach in trying to address your views in a civilized manner. Thank you for that.

I have not given any conclusion. But I can speculate something. If you too can speculate something , we can draw some better speculation.
Alternatively, we can leave the questions are they are.
My aim is to people to start thinking their own, without buying ideas from some one else.
I truly believe there is a big conspiracy, but it involves everyone mentioned.
