To Err is Human & To Forgive is Divine!

Prof. Hudson McLean

Many moons ago, during one of my long hops into Sri Lanka, I visited a small Buddhist Temple, by prior appointment, to meet a famous elderly Buddhist monk, a Scholar.

The Venerable monk, was well read, including Shakespeare, Chaucer and T.S. Eliot. Spoke excellent English. Those were the days without the Internet, but only Colour TV, which he did not have.

The reason for my request to see him, was to seek divine comfort for a series of tragic incidents which I suffered.

The Venerable monk offered to dedicate his and his monks meditation and prayers, and offered to give me his blessings, with a sachet of ashes from joss-sticks burnt during three days of meditation, as protection.

One statement which he made which I never forgot was that, according to the preaching of Lord Buddha, Every Human Enters the World with Nothing, Lives with Nothing, and Departs this World with Nothing”.

He gave me a short lesson on life, humility and pride.

Thinking back, I experienced the first two parts as a human, and the third is yet to come. Brings us to the saga of Mahinda Rajapaksa (MR) and General Sarath Fonseka (SF).

Saying goes………

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Now both are fallen. Two fallen Heroes.

Swallow the Pride and Help Each other!

Actually MR does not really need SF in the next Episode of the Nugegoda Man. (Ref: HLD Mahindapala)

SF on his own may continue to play a solitary role and will disappear into the history books, in time to come.

However, together the two will create an incredible and formidable Tsunami.

Better not make it a secret if they plan the joint exercise. The fact that they even consider co-operation will decimate the RW-CBK-My3 Trio, giving them a psychological nightmare, and sleepless nights.

I take your point. Thanks.

Three Blind Mice led the revolt. Agree there are many more.

Politics is a Dirty Game.

Leaders in every country, whether it is UK-USA-Egypt-Middle East and indeed in Sri Lanka, were taken-out by the bullet and the knife. Occasionally by ballot.

The expression Donkey & the Stallion” is proverbial.  I am pretty certain MS can run as fast as or faster than MR in a road race.  No harm intended!

From me:….

Furthermore, I come Neither to praise MR, Nor to bury him.

As an independent observer, I express my considered opinion, in between my work commitments.

Question: Have you considered devoting your talent to constructive criticism rather that SCREAM with Bold CAPS, degrading other contributors?

Your frustrations of not grasping the American Dream is not the fault of LankaWeb readers.

I think My3 burnt his candle at both ends.  MR need not beg anyone to join him. The electorate will decide.

As expressed clearly and eloquently by HLD Mahindapala, The Nugegoda Man has made a dramatic entry. Obviously, he has woken-up many more than his own supporters. Being a professional political artiste, he will maintain the Beat!

The first priority is to say it Loud & Clear: 13A is Out.

The Sinhela will now wake-up to empower the resurgence of MR, to Forgive & Forget the minor mishaps, and let MR continue with his own dynamism!

Pride Goeth Before Destruction, and a Haughty Spirit Before a Fall.

No Time to Waste!

Professor, I am sure the honorable buddhist monk also advised you of senility and delusions some human beings suffer from due to old age …………. JP/USA

It is better for Prof. Hudson to keep a distance without getting into regular discussions and get hurt due to extremely egoistic attitude of many Sinhela patriots, sadly due to generations of anti-Sinhela brainwashing by the hybrid Sinhala politicians.

    Prof,
Thanks for your articles. Witty, pithy and to the point.

Thank you for writing on incident where you approached a Buddhist priest for comfort and advise. Many Asians have two or even three religions, the say. Such things happen with Colonisation of countries. Rule by the gun was our lot in those times – I can understand why some folk coverted ! My own people learnt the English language without opting for conversion. I am truly grateful for that.

The professor could tiurn out to be one of the greatest visionaries yet.
Those who attempt to discredit his insight are either blinkered, biased or both.
How can someone like M3 who sucks up to everything that could turn the nation upside down and into unthinkable turmoil hold a candle to his peer and mentor MR whom he so disgracefully back bit?His days seem numbered as are those of RW, RH the Muslim agitator and CBK alongside a few more opportunistic ship jumpers whose new found vessel already seem to be showing holes and cracks prior to an ignominious sinking!
Your words of wisdom are well taken and appreciated Professor, keep them coming!
iNDDEED THERE ARE MANY SUFFERING FROM THE SENILITY AND DELUSIONS BORNE OF OLD AGE REFERED TO BY JAYANTHA BUT THE PROFESSOR SEEMS TO BE THE FURTHEST FROM THESE!
