The White House is playing hardball with the government of India, pushing the Narendra Modi administration to sign three military agreements Washington is keen on but New Delhi has nixed in the past.

The Logistics Support Agreement (LSA), the Communication Interoperability and Security Memorandum Agreement (CISMOA) and the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-Spatial Cooperation (BECA) means greater cooperation between the two governments, including that each country provide logistic support, refueling and berthing facilities for each other’s warships and aircraft.

Previous Indian governments have been against the agreements, arguing that cooperating with the United States on such an extensive level militarily would undermine India’s strategic autonomy. But a new Indian government means a renewed push from Washington, and they’re turning up the heat this time around.

After a meeting earlier this week in New Delhi between Obama and Modi officials, the Times of India reported that a US official said that if India did not sign the pacts, it would become an issue.”

One area that could be adversely affected is India’s bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. President Obama visited India last month and reiterated Washington’s support for India’s Security Council spot, and White House press secretary Josh Earnest this week repeated that support.

As it relates to India’s membership in the security council, I know the President endorsed that…the Security Council in the context of a variety of other important reforms to the operations of the United Nations,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said on Thursday.

The US says these agreements are necessary so that allies can help each other spread the burden of maintaining a robust military presence worldwide. However, India doesn’t have plans to deploy its military personnel anywhere in North America, while the US is deeply interested in expanding the Pentagon’s capabilities in Asia. Especially in light of souring relations with India’s neighbor, Pakistan, which repeatedly demanded that the US withdraw drone bases from the country and respect  Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Namaste: “The White House is playing hardball with the government of India, pushing the Narendra Modi administration to sign three military agreements Washington is keen on but New Delhi has nixed in the past”. Indian Empire does not want anyone to interfere in the its colonies. It is time the US kept its arrangements with Pakistan and not suck to Indian imperialists. Jai Hind.

They are using muslims against muslims, latinos against LAtinos, wanted to use Ukraine against russia, it is not working.

It is the same thing with India. They want India to go against with China.

IF this thing works, then they set up some fake Chinese atrocities against India.

    Quoting the article:
“One area that could be adversely affected is India’s bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council”

It is becoming harder (not easier) for India to achieve that goal and even if she does New Delhi will have to weigh to pros and cons of it.

-Due to the hot war with Russia and the US containment policy with China the last thing either nation needs is a US ally in the Security Council. China also has major border issues with India. It only takes one veto to stop India from entering that Council. Both Russia and China have a dozen reasons not to allow India into that council

Secondly if India ever becomes a member she will have to weigh in issues in that council that may effect her commercial ties with other members. veto vital issues in that council could mean bilateral deals being cancelled. It will only complicate India’s developing economy against far more developed economies in that council

As far as India’s relation with the Western world it has been colored with a concept of “you invent we take” or in Indian jargon ‘technology transfers”. That is a fancy word for advanced technologies that the Western world invests and develops with India demanding the finished product.
That is how India became a nuclear power when the USSR “transferred” that technology to India”
Almost all the advanced areas in India from the private sector to the military sector to the space industry follows that same Colonial mentality: “let the Western world invent and then just give that to us” frame of mind.

Now under the new Modi government of Hindu nationalism, chest beating Hindu chauvinism claims that India is the fountain head of so many inventions including airplanes, rockets, nuclear technology etc. the source information comes from mythical based epics but who really cares right?

In addition the crusade against non Hindu faiths has taken India by storm. I have made many comments in the Indian forums that such religious nationalism is not just unique to India. Here in the US protestant evangelical movements including people like Phil Robertson consider Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and of course Islam as “pagan faiths bent on luring their children away from the Christian fold” That in a nutshell is the new face of Indo US relations.

One more issue regarding Russia and the USA.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the birth of the Russian Federation the world changed.
-Russia and China forged one of the most important alliances the world had ever seen in the 20th to the 21st century. The Russian CSTO and the Chinese SCO basically share most of the same member states. that has created a power base from the China sea to the East to Eastern Europe to the West.
-It has been further cemented with the formation of the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) with their own bank “the New Development Bank” where the seed money of 100 billion worth in US dollars only has 5 billion in US currency. Both the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and the BRICS group are hardhearted in Shanghai. Russia is a member nation of the SCO.
-At the same time NATO has advanced in the “Russian sphere of control”. When a man named Victor Yanukoych who was elected to office and was pro Russian, anti NATO and anti EU was summarily ousted out of power and a Pro NATO, pro EU man put in his place did Moscow take action. Moscow moved her troops as the only way to stop the advancement of the US hegemony into their “sphere of control”.

The US and the EU slapped Russia with crippling sanctions. This also came around the time US shale oil devastated the global crude market. Russia’s economy was hit. then the US led sanctions became a ‘weapon” against the Russian people. It worked.

But it also sent a clear message to Moscow that the US and NATO can use this new “weapon” on Russia if she will not “tow the line” along US foreign policies at any given time in the future. It worked so well that Russia was left with no other option but further military action. Not to do so would be to capitulate to a policy and a new weapon that can be used against Russia at any time.

Now no peace deal will work. the Minsk peace deal has failed for it never dealt with the issue of the US using this economic weapon on Russia in the future. Of course Russia retaliated with her own sanctions. they have devastated Europe but not damaged the US as much. But the message from Moscow is clear. it is war. the death of a prominent opponent of Putin in one of the most secure places in Moscow was to me a clear message that those who stand in the way of Moscow have no place to hide, be they Russians, Europeans or Americans.

  5. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

One more issue of the Russian Federation:

When it formed it lost half of her population (Central Asian nations and Eastern Europe) plus 2 million square miles. but Russia emerged 6 million square miles with less people. Most of that land is rich with natural resources. Russia has set about creating a network of pipelines connecting the Eurasian continent.
Russia also has decided to set up 8 bases across the world for her navy. 3 of them are in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. 2 of them in Seychelles and Singapore. In addition to Crimea and a good part of the black sea the sea of Okhotsk is now part of Russia. Moscow intends to lay claim to the Arctic region, as she shares most of the border with that mineral rich region. if that ever happens the Russian federation would be larger than the Soviet Union and with a less population to boot.
At the same time China is doing a similar act with her massive “silk roads”. A good deal of them using Russian territory to traverse to Europe and the Middle East. Later on she will also connect South East Asia and possibly even the new world via Alaska.

  6. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

    One final issue.
Moscow regained the central Asian nations through an alliance Moscow formed under the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization). she then got the best of 2 worlds: independence of these nations and secondly their alliance to Moscow.

  7. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

    Final final comment
Russia’s nuclear missiles can travel at the speed of 8 mach or faster than any other missile. She has more nuclear war heads than the US and has developed a fifth generation of nuclear weapons which can be launched from land, sea or air. Moscow is one of the few major cities in the world to have a underground bunker for her population. that was built during the Soviet era and lies under her subway system. She also has 2 advanced nuclear defense systems:

the S 400 series was given to China last year.
the S 500 series is more advanced.

Any war between Russia and the US will be basically fought on European and Middle Eastern soil. the former is a growing nightmare for the heads of Europe.
