Submitting a letter to Queen Elizabeth II, Bauddharakshaka Padanama (Buddhist Defence Foundation) states that it would be nice if Great Britain takes the required measures to do justice to the Sinhala nation, which was at the receiving end of the colonial rulers atrocious activities.

The Foundation has forwarded the letter in view of the 200th anniversary of the Kandyan Convention. The Foundation is of the belief that both British and Ceylonese governments had conveniently forgotten their obligation to do justice to the victimized people.

The Foundation added that some of the broad areas that can be considered may include paying costs for the people that were killed by the British during the liberation struggles.

The long and short term economic, cultural, political and environmental impacts of industrial plantations, treasures like the ones still at the London Museum, impacts of establishing an elite social class without awareness or value for local culture that continues to rule every aspect of policy, polity, economy and vision.

In commemoration of two centuries since the signing of the Kandyan Convention, the Sinhala people are encouraged by good sense, circumspect nature and generous attitude, to request you to advise the relevant authorities to conduct an audit to take stock of direct and indirect impacts of your rule on the Sinhale Nation,” the letter reads.

It is clear that all Commonwealth states including the Sinhala people in the island nation known as Sri Lanka in the modem era, share similar sentiments of misery and have inherited evils of colonialism, neo-colonialism and neo-liberalism, a process which is alleged to have been devised by the very colonialists,” it further elaborates.

Bravos to Priyanka Kurugala. Many thanks for taking the first step toward self respect of an entire Nation. We hope Her Majesty, the Queen, will respond favorably. She is known to be a just person and I personally like this Queen. My protests are aimed at neo-Colonisation and this is not action carried out by the Queen of England.
