General election to be held after new electoral reforms-අලුත් ඡන්ද ක්රමයකට ජනපති-අගමැති එකඟ වෙති
Posted on March 5th, 2015
The Cabinet has decided to hold the next General Election only after constitutional changes take place for new electoral reforms, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne said.
According to the government 100-day pledge, it was scheduled to prepare new election laws in accordance with the proposals put forward by the all party committees by 2 March, and pass the new system by 17 March.
However, the Minister added that the Government might take more time to make the proposed reforms, if 100-days period is not enough.

After reading the attack on the Badu Bala Sena in Kandy by the police over an issue of a flag, I was jolted into reminding myself that the power in Sri Lanka rests in
the government
the Buddhist Sanga
the people
None of them can be violated. to do so makes a mockery of the current system of governance. It also means the majority Singhalese do not have a say, if the Buddhist Sanga is attacked by the police and get away with it. Time for a Buddhist theocracy for the ILLUSION of a Democracy will NOT DO.

MR. BW !! Why the situation went to that extent beats me. There was absolutely no cause for such violent reaction. The present government under Ranil Uncle DEMALA “NAPEW” Party, and diratchtcha Palanaya, will soon erase Buddhism out of Sri Lanka. Then again, I think a total FAMILY CURSE will be bestowed on such people who even think of doing a thing like that. Let there be damning consequences to such people.

SA Kumar,
India has the same problem as Lanka. When Congress party was in power, when Europe/west sneezes India & Lanka catches pneumonia !
Tamil Nadu problem is Caste/poverty/breakaway Ego problem. India benefits when Tamil Nadu disagrees with Lanka due to TN breakaway problem mainly and other reasons too.
Also, foreign powers get at India via Lanka and vice versa.
Nowadays most people know the convoluted truth.

We hope concerned Lankans will prevail and no Rioting happens in Lanka. Riots are the favored way to down the Sinhala/Buddhists of Lanka.
We also hope that concerned Lankans are following the Israeli and Brit pre-election events.
