A former village headman who suddenly became the president of Sri Lanka on a Western/Indian inspired regime change plot, hurriedly appointed Former Sri Lankan High Commissioner to UK Dr Chris Nonis, an award winning diplomat in UK, as the protocol adviser and the interpreter after realising that he had neither sufficient knowledge in English nor knowledge in diplomatic protocol that he has to follow strictly in the very conservative British society and accompanied him today when he left for the United Kingdom on a three-day official visit.

Dr Nonis received his hurriedly drafted letter of appointment from President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat last evening(Friday).

Qualified in London, with a First Class Honours BSc from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, Dr. Nonis obtained his MBBS from the Royal Free Hospital Medical School, University of London, having spent his electives at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

He carried out his postgraduate training at Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, and Addenbrooke’s, Cambridge and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

He has been actively involved in Commonwealth and International Affairs, and is Deputy-Chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society, London; Board Member of the Ramphal Centre for Commonwealth Policy Studies, UK; and Board Member of the Commonwealth Business Council.

President Sirisena, as the Chair-in-Office of the Commonwealth, will attend the Commonwealth Day Observances on 9th March, according to the International Media Unit of the President’s Office said.

The day is marked by a range of activities, including a multi-faith Observance at Westminster Abbey in London, UK, followed by a reception hosted by the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Mr. Kamalesh Sharma.

The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh will attend the event.

The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) meeting will also take place on the 12th March.

In his three-day official visit to UK, President Sirisena is expected to hold talks with the British Prime Minister Mr. David Cameron.

This is the right thing to do.He is a honourable man who had to work with some useless people of the former government.

  2. Lorenzo Says:

I exposed what MACKWOODS Nonis was doing including abusing staff, doing personal business, etc. I was banned from Lankaweb for that.

Now the cat is out the bag. This is the agenda (a US-UK-Endia hatched plot against SL) MACKWODS Nonis was playing all along. UK got MACKWOODS on their side in the regime change game by offering him an award. (like Gorbachev, or Lalai Lilai Lama or Aung Sang Suki) Wrong for SAJIN to slap him though.

As Sir John had said only the arses have changed not the arsekissers.

  3. Wickrama Says:

    Nimal,

So that does not mean he has to work under a useless President of this govt ? He should have honourably refused this silly appointment and let any other idiot accompany the Cheif Idiot !

  4. L Perera Says:

Some Sri Lankans tend to make statements that do nothing but reflect poorly on the nation as a whole. By referring to the
those elected by the people as “useless” reflects poorly on the entire nation specially in the eyes of the international community.

  5. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

David Cameroon is a back stabbing hypocrtical British putz. He went out of his way to push an international investigation on Sri Lanka for only the end of that war. this British waste product thinks dreams of the days some bleached white British limp wristed man ruled Sri Lanka. He does not even have the guts to face the facts of that war.

Perera: those who elected this coalition ONLY WON BY 45O THOUSAND VOTES. MOST OF THEM WERE BACK STABBING TAMILS AND MUSLIMS WHO WOULD SEE THE GENOCIDE OF THE SINGHALESE WITHOUT BLINKING AN EYE. YOU ARE RIGHT THEY ARE NOT “USELESS” THEY ARE ‘PARASITES”. THEY ARE A TUMOR TO THE NATION THAT MUST BE ELIMINATED.

  6. Lorenzo Says:

    Wickrama,

AFTER January 2014 MACKWOODS Nonis was working for RUN-NIL. Even before the New York slapping incident.

I KNOW because I was with them during the election campaign.

Christian fundamentalist MACKWOODS Nonis FOOLED MR in style. MR likes BIG TALKING bullshitters than people who actually work their asses off.

  7. Nimal Says:

Dr Nonis is a decent man with successful commercial background. Some people who call themselves Sinhalese seems to run down another Sinhalese who is good and achieved well in life.We also must respect the leaders in power and let them carry on with their duties for the country.
Hope MS is not having gala time at the expense of the taxpayers, and I doubt it.See what we have done to Kothalawala and the Golden key? We seem to rob the assets of the Sinhalese thus giving him a bad name and criminalizing him at the same time. We seems to pull out one’s religious connections as if the critics are themselves follow the teaching of their faith. Third world is full of hypocrites ,thieves, people of envy and jealousy. We have to get the colonials to get back and make people good Buddhists.
I hope MS will see the orderly and tolerant life in London. I wonder if he heard the tooting of horns of the tolerant motorists, if he had noticed the tolerance and patience shown at the pedestrian crossings. Just compare this in his own country of birth.
Perhaps he is now secretly planning to sell hog wash to remain in power to make a bit of money and live in the civilized West. Wish him luck, but he must serve his country honestly and then, pehaps he could come here to live with the help of people like Nonis.

  8. Nimal Says:

    Wickrama
If you think he is with an idiot, then he could enlighten the Prez with the finer points of the decent life in UK and bring some of it back to SL.
We need the goodness of UK in SL,in short. It would not be fair to the suffering people of SL not to enjoy the good life that our politicians eventually go to enjoy in the Western world.
