A 17-year-old Dinithe Aloka Ranasinghe, daughter of businessman Gamini Ranasinghe of Kirulapana was abducted on February 24, 2014 while she was returning home after school and her whereabouts had not been known since then.

Father of the victim, Gamini Ranasinghe, addressing the media yesterday blamed Health and Indigenous Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne’s second son Eksath for the disappearance. He said Minister Senaratne and his family had been intimate friends for a long time before the incident.

Ranasinghe said his daughter had gone to school on Feb. 24 but never returned. Later he came to know that Minister Senaratne’s second son Eksath Ranasinghe (26) had taken his daughter to the official residence of Minister Senaratne.

Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, contacted for comment said that Gamini Ranasinghe’s daughter Dinithe Aloka Ranasinhe had to stay with them as she was forced to help the business activities of Gamini Ranasinghe. “Dinithe came to stay with us voluntarily and did not want to go back to her parents. It is not proper to accuse my second son of abducting her.

“Dinithe has given a statement to the police that she does not want to stay with her parents. I have never used my political power to harass Gamini Ranasinghe’s family. Let him complain to President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. I am thinking of instituting legal action against Gamini Ranasinghe, who has given false information to the media,” Dr. Senaratne claimed.

Gamini Ranasinghe said that he had made a complaint to the Child Protection Authority about the issue and it gave an order for her to stay with her aunt in Piliyandala, because Dinithe was preparing for GCE O/L examination, but on February 4, 2014 she was again taken by Eksath from her aunt’s house.

Ranasinghe said he had lodged several complaints at the Peliyandala police station and police headquarters about the case but no action had been taken because Minister Senaratne had personally asked the police and the relevant authorities to refrain from taking any action.

Ranasinghe said that he was appealing to President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe to intervene in the matter to see that justice was done. He said his family had been in tears for a long time. “I am asking the media to help my family seek justice. I have tried my best to get the help of the police, but it is in vain because of political influence. My family and I have been mentally sick due to absence of my daughter. I hope justice will be done.”

GAMINI RANASINGHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRUTHFUL, THAT HIS DAUGHTER WENT AWAY VOLUNTARILY. IF SHE TOLD THE POLICE THAT SHE DOES NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO THE PARENTS, THEN THE CASE IS CLOSED.

INTERFERENCE WITH THE POLICE WILL NEVER STOP, BY THESE WILD ASS POLITICIANS. BEST TO PUT THE IGP IN A SKIRT AND BLOUSE.

  2. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

IF THE GIRL IS UNDER-AGE, WHAT IS THE CHILD PROTECTION DEPARTMENT DOING ???

SCARED OF THE WILD ASS POLITICIANS EH ????

  3. Independent Says:

She does not want to go back ? Why ?

They have said they all are “Family Friends”. Surely this girl has run away with Rajitha’s son, who is 9 years older. If an inquiry is made and found that the Son (of a ..) has taken this girl as his wife, this bugger must be jailed as it is considered Rape.
On the other hand the girl might say she was abused at home.

Where is Yahapalanaya ? Yahapalaynaya in this case is not doing justice to anyone but showing the public that there is law and order in the country and it applies to all.

Thank you lankaweb for publishing this.

This must be the DIRTIEST of all recent political acts.

When we supported My3 we DID NOT vote for these dirt. They are riding on My3’s victory. KICK OUT these dirty bastards My3. Like mother like son!!

  5. ranjit Says:

This shit foul mouthed Dentist should be Investigated for his corruption cases first then he should be questioned on this Dinithe’s disappearance before everything as he was from the Yahapalana Regime. There is no Yahaplanaya in any of these bulshit politicians in the current regime. What is that beauty queen Rosy is doing? Why not go and catch Rajith’s BB’s and question him? Why No police Investigations for them? If they can take Opposition to question why not their thieves? What is happening to our country where’s the law and who is in charge of the law? How can we stand idle while they play with our lives? Think my people before too late. If we allow them to have a national Govt more misery for us sure therefore get rid of them as soon as possible. Rally behind the Nugegoda Man and show your anger and frustration towards this Jarapalana Regimeya.

It seems (Dr. or kudu) Mervin is clean man now for he has not just joined the Hitan ‘yahapalanaya’ gang but also appointed a central committee member of the SLFP. Needless to say, now, Mervin has the privilege of getting his son become a member of the most prolific team of women abusers (Champaka) and underage girl snatchers.

  7. Nimal Says:

He and his son should be punished according to the law of the land. This kind of behaviour should not be tolerated.

  9. Leela Says:

Kumar, Read (in dbsjayaraj.com) how Sirisena had gone out of the way to protect his drunkard and rowdy son Daham who is said to have assaulted a young holidaying couple (a DIG’s son and his wife) brutally in a hotel in Pasikudah beach together with a few thuggish friends. Can you expect fair play from such a man. I wonder.

    SA Kumar

MAYBE YOU LIKE UNDERAGE GIRLS AND BOYS COMING TO YOU “ON THEIR OWN VOLITION” OF WITHOUT LETTING THEIR PARENTS KNOW WHERE THEY HAVE GONE SO YOU CAN DO WITH THEM WHAT YOU WANT. HOW UNDERAGE DO THEY HAVE TO BE KUMAR? 9? 8? 7? 6? 5?
IF A 5 YEAR OLD GIRL CAME TO YOU WITHOUT TELLING HER PARENTS IT IS FINE WITH YOU? WHAT STANDARDS OF MORALITY DO YOU EVEN HAVE? DON’T YOU THINK IT IS YOUR DUTY TO CALL HER PARENT IMMEDIATELY OR DO YOU THINK YOU SHOULD BE SILENT ABOUT IT TILL YOU HAVE YOUR WAY WITH HER THEN WHEN THE ISSUE BECOMES PUBLIC YOU STATE SHE CAME TO YOU, A MERE CHILD, ON HER OWN VOLITION. CLUE KUMAR A CHILD DOES NOT HAVE THAT LIBERTY.

  12. SA Kumar Says:

Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha My sinhala brother Son & Mother & father & victim family should taken to court immediately

  13. Mr. Bernard Wijeyasingha Says:

SA Kumar: what are you babbling about? I placed a question to you. If a child came to you ON HIS OR HER OWN VOLITION THEN IT IS YOUR DUTY TO CALL THE POLICE AND OR THE PARENTS OR BOTH. AT LEAST THAT IS THE CASE HERE IN THE UNITED STATES.
