Ex-President’s brother and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Monday (16) asserted that weapons recovered from the floating armoury in the southern port of Galle are not owned by the state.
While claiming that cabinet approval has been granted for the Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd and the Rakna Arakshaka Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd, Rajapaksa expressed that both local and internationally recognised institutions have obtained its services.
The observations were made at the Derana 360° programme.
According to the ex- Defence Secretary, the firearms are owned by those international organisations who obtain services of the security firms.
He also denied allegations levelled by former Minister Mervyn Silva. Earlier, the ex-Minister accused the former Defence Secretary of being involved in several high profile assassinations carried out in the country in the recent past and also blamed him for creating the ‘white van’ culture.
Rajapaksa also dismissed allegations that he was backing the controversial Buddhist organisation ‘Bodu Bala Sena (BBS).

Lets hope his answers are truthful if so GOSL must put their full weight behind in getting justice to Mr Gotabaya.Rajapakasa. It’s not a level playing field in the western countries when it comes to war crimes and crimes against humanity, there fore likes of Mr Wickramasinge and Mr Dissanayake must stand firm and have a an inquiry in the country.
The idiotic and stupid officers, that after winning the war had done some stupid acts should be punished. It’s like the old Sinhalese saying that one put cow dung in to the fresh milk. Victory had lost it’s shine and our war heroes have been turned in to war criminals.
Mr G.Rajapaksa should also take some blame for not communicating effectively with the field commanders.
should the likes of US with it’s own war crime record should not put pressure on a small country that fought for her life, then we must recall our ambassador from Washington.
I am speaking like a person who likes the way western countries are governed and we must follow their rules. This mean we have the right to conduct our own investigations.
Knowing the impending problems that we may face after the war, likes of Gota and his people should have run the country in a decent,uncourrupt and a transparency way,whicjh I notice that was lacking and that is a great disadvantage in their defence.
Lets hope things will work out right,the way RW spoke on that TV interview, have hope for these people over this matter.Gota should be given a diplomatic passport to sort his affairs ,perhaps in US and give him a chance to develop the country, without sleaze.

GR is saying here that proper procedures had been followed. That is exactly what the new illegal govt inquiry says too ! Nice to have agreement, however illegal the new govt.

There are 4 enemies of SL.
1. Tamils (lets not split hairs over BS and call a spade a damn spade) (VERY FEW patriotic Tamils are there and they don’t mind “SINHALA RULE” of SL.)

HOW can SL overcome ALL of them? BBS, violence by Singhalese, etc. are NOT working.
The ONLY way to defeat them ALL is by PITTING #1 AGAINST #2.
1. ALL STRATEGIC places of the country are FANTASTIC places to start this. Colombo city, Kandy city, Trinco district. Perfect.
2. Endia and USA will try to get involved but that will create them MORE PROBLEMS internally and externally!!

Hero has spoken so I hope stupids may have understood clearly what he meant about all the controversial issues that were floating around the country. He is not a liar in my view like Awamangalaya & the Hora clique. He is a Gentleman who has done immense service to Motherlanka.
You cannot just brand them as thieves and put them aside. Winning the war was enough for the people of this country to have more faith on them than these Jarapalana thieves. They brought the country to a standard to be par with other develop countries around the world. We should be proud to have them in any Government. If not for peace in the country how on earth we can go forward? If bomb blasts were all over like in Pakistan can we develop a country? Just see the situations in Yemen,Iraq,Syria,Pakistan,Middle Eastern countries etc. Do any of these stupids like to live in that kind of situations? Appreciate what they have done to the country without slinging mud at them and take revenge. Truth will come out soon and people will come to know who is wrong and who is right.So just be patient.

Armoury issue is legal and above board and bring in good foreign revenue to SL govt. Also it was a brilliant business move by GR since security people that guard pirate lines want a break in SL and our govt. ask them to keep their weapons at our sites under lock and when they leave our ports they collect them. Quite straight forward transaction but with full security for foreign arms.
So what is the issue?
New govt. want to neutralise GR since he is not tainted by corruption and straight shooter. Issue is present govt crooks will not stand a chance if he is involve with new election from opposite side.
There are behind the scene activity to bring in MR without is corrupt cronies and I hope this will be a good move since MR is a sincere man but got completely hoodwink by people around him and that started with Basil, and stupid sons started extortion culture.

Kumar, Pirate gurading is happening on indian ocean trade line all the way to Somalia and has nothing to do with SL pirate issue.. They are British, French and some ex US soldiers.
It seems Kumar does not know what is going around our own borders.

Gotabhaya comes out in this interview as honest and committed to the nation’s security. He would NEVER have put the nation at risk. At the end of the war they had to find ways of keeping the forces employed rather than send them home. Senior members who could be used in international maneuvers where experienced personnel were necessary were made available both as a means of providing them good employment as well as earn foreign exchange for the country.The Avant Garde operation was in collaboration with international defense operatives, especially with the Somalian pirate problem having become an international maritime issue just as the people- and drug- trafficking operations had become. The participation of Sri Lanka in this collaborative exercise was a benefit to the internationals including the countries that had been critical of SL at the Geneva UNHRC events. The turnaround to appreciate SL had already begun with SAMI of the UK becoming cognizant of the strategic position of the island in monitoring the Indian Ocean sea lanes. India probably did not like any of the glow going to SL for her work, especially with its new found friendship with the US bringing Modi into global focus and media attention. Things had to be stopped and that’s where RAW probably came into the scene as made public by MR. There will be many more events in which Sri Lanka will be implicated by its enemies in their efforts at projecting themselves.
