There is some truth in these allegations against LKY and some exaggeration too.
I was a very close friend of one of the voluntary attendees to the small group of people providing shelter and help to house maids ( some Sri Lankan) subjected to cruelty by Singaporeans ( Referred to the writer as “Operation Spectrum”). Yes, my friend was not a “communist” but a kind hearted engineer spending his after hours there to help those women. He was detailed , send to Changi prison ( highest security level) but he was not “tortured”. He was later released without ANY black mark or retaliation. However the priest was deported to France (if I remember correctly).
This Operation, however, was not against “Catholic Church”. The writer paints a picture that it LKY is against the Catholic Church. He is definitely not.
In Singapore , Catholics and Christians enjoy freedom not worse than anywhere in the world.

I would take these religious prelates with a pinch of salt.
