Denying accusations that he had stashed away funds amounting to USD 18 billion, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that legal advice would be sought as regards the defamatory statement attributed to Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

Minister Samaraweera on Thursday claimed that the new government had been working closely with four countries to trace funds stashed overseas. The minister declined to name the countries or foreign agencies involved in the operation.

The following is the full text of the statement titled ‘USD 18 billion belonging to the Rajapaksa family’ issued by the former President:

“Foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera said at a press conference on Thursday that information has been received from foreign intelligence agencies that I, my wife, sons and brothers had amassed a fortune of 18 billion US dollars concealed in secret offshore accounts and front companies overseas.

There was a time when any large house that was being built in Colombo or a hotel that was being built anywhere in the country was supposed to belong to members of my family. Such propaganda cannot be carried out now, so our political opponents have resorted to talking about money stashed overseas.

In making that statement about my family’s supposed USD 18 billion fortune, minister Samaraweera took the precaution of adding that he does not know whether the information they have received is correct or not. Covering oneself in that manner enables fiction to be passed off as fact. When the foreign minister makes such statements, the story is picked up even by foreign news agencies. These are the devious means by which false propaganda against me and members of my family is being disseminated. I would like to inform the public once again that neither I nor my wife and sons nor my brothers have secret offshore accounts or illegal overseas investments in front companies. Legal advice will be sought on the statement made by minister Samaraweera.”

Yes, this poofter should be brought to justice. First it was a coup on election night and now another absurd allegation. Why is the criminal investigation unit not investigate him for taking his boy friend over seas at tax payers money? Looks like he is on drugs.

  3. Fran Diaz Says:

Yes, former Pres Mahinda Rajapakse must protect himself and his family from the FALSE & SLANDEROUS ALLEGATIONS coming from members of the present ILLEGAL govt. Truth & Justice must prevail. We are with you, former Pres MR !
Our thoughts and good wishes are always with you and your family. We thank you once more for all you and Gota did for Lanka. It is etched in the ether, rock and books for all times, never forgotten.

Now that the British Elections are finished, Britain’s former colonies can breathe a sigh of relief that Brit elections were won by the Tories. Hopefully past colonies will be given some breathing space to recover from the ‘divide & rule’ ! Hopefully, TRUE local heroes will be allowed to carry on the work of reconstructing their nations and Hivalas will go underground and disappear from public life forever.

We are further heartened by this news below. This ought to have been done sooner but I guess that Brit elections had to pass with a win to Tories.

“UPFA MPs to go to Geneva over harassment
    2015-05-09 DAILY MIRROR

UPFA parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardane today said they would lodge a complaint with the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva within next two weeks against the harassment faced by certain UPFA MPs due to the growing influence of the ‘state police’ concept.

MP Gunawardane said it was important to inform the international community about Ranil Wickremesinghe’s ‘police government’.

He said they decided to complain to the IPU to ensure the security of the peoples’ representatives.

“We will go to Geneva and complain to the IPU soon after we obtain an opportunity to meet them. The government officials and the bootlickers of this so called police government should know that we as peoples’ representatives of the parliament have international protection,” he said.(Ajith Siriwardana)”.

Mangala is such a fool that he does not know how to even lie properly. When the entire amount of money in the reserve bank is $5 billion how can it be that MR has accumulated $18 billion? If he had used a number which is believable then people might have believed. This man with no qualifications to be anything other than a dress designer how was he appointed to such a sensitive job? We really need to have people who are properly qualified for jobs as foreign minister. Singapore to be a Minister they have to have a basic degree. High time we introduced it as a rule for those running for office.

The whole country knows and understand about this wicked, evil gay boy of Ranils mouth and his play mates. So I hope our President should not take it serious but should take action to send him to gallows for spreading lies and for false information. It must be done as soon as possible.

This is the guy who said during the election time that Sira is not qualified to be the President and he was just a Grama Sevaka. Tissa Attanayaka appointed him to spread lies while he was with them if anyone can remember. This third class garbage is not fit to be a coolie in a Govt office in my view. All freedom loving citizens must reject these kinds of snakes coming to power in the next elections for sure. They are pain in the ass for everyone maybe even for his Gay partners.
