Removing Army Camps From North by Maithripala the Main Reason for Increased Crime

It didn’t take even two months to see the results of removing army camps from the north. The Maithripala government must take full responsibility for the crimes that followed the victory day in 2015.
Instead of accepting the responsibility for the heinous crime, the Maithripala-UNP government plays politics with the tragedy. They have even put the blame on the former president without any evidence. John Amaratunga should not be holding the ministerial post overlooking the police function as a no confidence motion was brought to parliament. It was not allowed.
Senior minister Rajitha Senaratne’s son also committed a similar crime by having an inappropriate relationship with an under-aged girl. This crime went unpunished. By allowing his son to take the law and an under-aged girl into his dirty hands, a wrong signal was relayed to the people of the north and the south.
Two crimes don’t make it right. Those who attacked the courts complex in Jaffna must also face justice. They have tested the weak national defences. The next protest will be much worse.
Jaffna people have Maithripala to blame for the crime waves gripping Jaffna today. Jaffna voters got the government they deserve!

During police inquiries, three brothers were arrested based on information from the victim’s mother, Sivaloganathan Saraswathi. In the past, Vithya’s mother had witnessed a robbery committed at a doctor’s house by the suspects. It is believed that the suspects committed the crime as an act of revenge. Based on the statements of the three brothers, five others were arrested the next day. One worked in the Pradeshiya Sabha office of the area while the other four were employed in Colombo.
On the day of the incident, the suspects had arrived in Pungudutheevu from Colombo. It was here they had planned the gang rape and murder of Vithya. Soon afterwards, they left to Colombo. Thereafter again they came to Pungudutheevu and participated in Vithya’s funeral. After the funeral they tried to return to Colombo but they were arrested by police.
The same night, a Swiss national was caught by people in Pungudutheevu but there were no complaints against him in the police. After the intervention of the deputy minister of women’s affairs in the area and a prominent lawyer, the Swiss national was released by villagers people and he escaped to Colombo. The Swiss suspect was arrested on 19th at Wellawatta after UNP Jaffna head Dhuvarageshwaran’s complaint in Jaffna Police.

A week later, on the 20th Wednesday, a hartal was called but already the day before [Tuesday], a tense situation had prevailed with the shops being forced to close in Kasthooriyaar road and in other areas. On Wednesday, there were protests all over Jaffna and later in the morning, the protesters moved to the Jaffna Court area. They proceeded to throw stones at the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court buildings damaging window panes and vehicles parked in the court premises.
ive police officers were injured and 127 people were arrested by police. STF and more police were deployed in the town area and the situation was brought under control. People were not allowed to the court area. The reason behind the tense situation on Wednesday was because the Swiss national was due to be produced in court on that day. However, because of the tense situation he was not produced on that day but was was produced later in court on Thursday.
All over Jaffna tyres were burnt to block traffic. Another 26 persons were arrested in Point Pedro. It is believed that a prominent lawyer is set to contest in next general elections representing the TNA and that there were some parties set to ignite this issue to make political gains. There were also calls to lawyers not to defend the alleged rapists in court.

This is an over simplification of what is happening. The reality is MUCH WORSE.
BEFORE army liberated Tamils from LTTE control they lived like barbarians under LTTE rule.
1. Tamils had to donate blood forcibly to cure LTTE cadres. NO ESCAPE.
2. Tamils were raped by LTTE to blame others and recruit them into suicide brigades.
3. Tamils were killed in thousands for being “traitors”.
4. Foreign NGOs were given young Tamil girls for pleasure. LW published a detailed article on this 2 years ago with pictures. This was how LTTE won the west.
5. LOW CASTE Tamils were chased away from schools, hospitals, offices, kovils, etc.
6. Every month every Tamil family had to donate Rs 1,000 worth food for the LTTE. LTTE never paid salaries!! For their food, they robbed from the people. It was called maaveer vari (great heroes tax).
7. ALL businessmen had to pay 40% of their profit to LTTE.
8. ALL families with someone in a foreing country had to pay $1,000 a year either to LTTE or to its foreign branches.
9. LTTE leaders were given a harem (makaleer koolu) each made up of Tamil school girls. An LTTE colonel would typically have 4 Tamil girls. MAALATHI brigade managed these affairs while the SOTHIYA brigade disciplined them. VP’s daughter Dwarga was part of the MALATHI brigade which was feared by mothers who used to hide their young daughters in WELLS when them come from house to house.
10. Every family had to donate one child to any one of the various LTTE brigades organized by caste and place.
Now the army is no more, the north is going back to those ways. Now Tamils in the north live in fear of their own kind!! As a Tamil leader once said, Tamils biggest enemy is Tamils. PLEASE note that Tamil PEOPLE NEVER demanded to remove army camps!! It was LTTE’s TNA and LTTE sex favor beneficiary NGOs that demanded it. I feel sorry for Tamils in the north. They are cursed with WRONG leaders who ruin them.

I thought the rape of that innocent young daughter would be put to the Sri Lanka army, but though they could not possibly put it on the army, Former President is being blamed for not taking action against previous rapes !! The police has also been blamed and some even transferred. Why put the blame on the Previous government for indicsipline in Jaffna when there is a Chief Minister Wigneswaran a former Judge and a very “capable” set of TNA Provincial Councillors. Speaking for Tamil superiority
What are they of the TNA doing other than asking for devolution of political power and all that does not affect the lives of the ordinary people. They should stop their hatred towards the Sinhala and the previous government to organise Jaffna so that no such incidents will occur again. They should invite the reestablishment of military camps and request the army and the police to re organise the life in Jaffna after 30 years of war after all they too might have suffered under terrorism !!!

Sometimes I feel, that all this is happening according to a plan. Remember the Rathu Passara incident in the South. The trouble makers don’t care about the incident or those who are direct victims of the crime. When any death occurs specially that of a child, that is a very sad and a sombre occasion. You must respect the dead.
The Jaffna Tamils, I know venerate the family, mothers and the daughters. That was the culture then. Even if somebody tried to capitalise on another’s grief, the elders could intervene and settle the issue.
Now everything is politicised. All what the politicians in Jaffna can do is blame those in Colombo. The Colombo jokers, who have no control over anything, blame the previous regime. I prey for the peace loving Jaffna people.
People in SL deserve better, whether they live in the South or in the North. First and foremost is the Security, National Security. That is the basic any government is required to provide. If you cannot do even the basic, please hold elections and go home. The first presidential promise of Yahapalana My3 was that after 100 days, he is holding elections. Haven’t we passed 150 days now?

LTTE, TNA is winning POLICE POWERS!!
Clever terrorists. Sacrificed a “low caste” Tamil girl’s life and got POLICE POWERS to Vigneswaran. Now the FAULT is with the police!! They are transferred to get a TAMIL ONLY police force.
