“A Closer Look at the Fall of Sinhala in 1815”

Since this year marks 200 years after the termination of a 2300 year unbroken history of the line of Kings in Sinhala and its sovereignty. The author examines closely the attendedant circumstances that may have contributed to the deposition of the last king of Kandy, through a re-scrutiny of the available material both by British written accounts as well as traditional Sinhala sources available.
