Best news in a few months. Please protect our leader to have a United Sri Lanka. I know there are lot of non-Sinhalese who want to live in one country.
Until Gota assumes security duties, I don’t trust others.

  2. Jag Says:

It is not that sira wanted to agree. He had no other option left at all. There is no way SLFP can return to power without MR. Ranil will have to pack his same old bag for the 30th time. Poor bag.!

Anyway, it is indeed good news for the country.!

  3. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

JAG !!! RANIL IS A RECORD BREAKER. SURE, HE WILL PACK THE SAME OLD BAG FOR THE 30TH TIME. ALL THE KINGS HORSES, AND ALL THE KINGS MEN, WILL NEVER EVER, PUT RANIL TOGETHER AGAIN. HE IS ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN GRAND LARCENY AT THE CENTRAL BANK, WITH THE PANALA GIYAA MAN.

THE FIRST THING THAT MAHINDA SHOULD DO “”WHEN”” HE COMES TO POWER, IS TO RE-SETTLE THE 25,000 SINHALESE, WHO WERE ETHNICALLY CLEANSED, IN THE NORTH, AND THE 100,000 MUSLIMS WHO WERE ETHNICALLY CLEANSED, AND PACKED OFF IN 24 HOURS FROM THE NORTH. THIS SHOULD BE HIS THEME SONG FOR HIS ELECTIONS, AMONGST OTHERS.

  4. mahesh fernando Says:

    Good news.
Kick Ranil, Rogues and Liars Company out of parliament.

  5. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

This is OLD news! The updated news has Maithripala saying “emphatic, NO!” to Mahinda and Mahinda contesting under new political front to be announced tomorrow.

    See “http://www.economynext.com/Sri_Lanka_President_dashes_Rajapaksa_PM_hopes;_Mahinda_to_go_it_alone-3-2226-10.html”

  6. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

Mahinda needs to go after the 30 SLFP MPs that are loyal to Maithripala and Ranil, and the only way to do that is to contest from a new political front and field strong candidates in each of these 30 MPs districts. If he does not do this, these same 30 MPs would cause Mahinda problems down the road even if he won the popular vote for PM, as Ranil would simply do what he is doing now and offer these 30 MPs minor ministerships to form a minority-led government under the guise of a ‘unity’ government.

Mahinda needs to completely stamp out the Maithripala/Ranil conspiracy to impose minority-rule on Sri Lanka, and leave Maithripala no choice but to appoint him as PM as the candidate that has BOTH the majority vote from the people and a majority of the MPs in Parliament. If Maithripala still refuses, then this is an easy case for the Supreme Court under the Sri Lanka Constitution to order Maithripala to comply, which will set up Maithripala’s resignation in September since he will not want to be a very weak president under Mahinda as the PM.

The odd thing about Maithripala is that he IS willing to be a very weak president under Ranil as PM even though he insists he is the leader of the SLFP/UPFA opposition party. No political party anywhere in the world would tolerate such foolishness from Maithripala, so if he can’t be booted from the leadership of the party, then the next best step is to make his party irrelevant so he is the leader of nothing.

  7. Lorenzo Says:

    Maru Sira’s plan is this.

LURE MR into UPFA so that he will NOT contest alone.

WAIT till the last moment to file nominations.

    DENY nominations to MR.

Then MR loses BOTH options! This is the plan. MR should NOT fall into this. Just form a separate party and contest. STOP go BEGGING after Maru Sira. 4 times he went after Maru Sira begging. STOP it.

  8. Jag Says:

Susantha, yes it is the biggest ”tragi-comedy” of world politics that’ll go to history books and also the ”The Guinness Book of Records”.!

As per the status-quo where siraa has ”emphatically ruled out” MR as SLFP’s PM candidate, MR has initiated his ”Plan B” which is contesting from a different party.

Siraa has once again displayed what a conceited arrogant idiot he is. This egoist idiot has completely overlooked the ”Master Politician” in MR. He should know better that MR absolutely thrives under challenging circumstances.

Everyone except this idiotic siraa and his clan knows the end result. MR will be able to get the support of the majority SLFPers and he will win with majority number of seats qualifying to become the PM.

People know, this is a contest between bandit queen and MR. They know who is better out of the two, even after the woman had chosen a proxy to represent her.

Bandit queen and clan are going to pay a huge price for what they do to the country.

  9. Independent Says:

There is no reason why he should not contest even alone, as Independent. He can easily win his seat with highest majority. Then he can grab power again.

  10. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

    Lorenzo,

He is on to Maithripala’s plan, I am just surprised that it took him so long to figure this out. I would have bagged the SLFP several months ago to get the new party ready for the election with a full slate of MP candidates from every district. Now, he has to scramble just to contest the districts from the 30 MPs loyal to Maithripala and Ranil. It is obvious if these 30 MPs could win these districts by crossing over to the UNP, they would have already done so. Winning these 30 seats is CRITICAL for Mahinda to win a majority in Parliament, because if he does not, Ranil will simply do what he is doing now and offer these 30 MPs minor ministerships so that he can rule the country as a minority party.

  11. Lorenzo Says:

    MB,

That 30 SLFP MPs is based on the 2010 election. Things are different today. Maru Sira will use STATE RESOURCES and win at least 50 MPs. After the election he will use his FCID GESTAPO to TERRORIZE MPs and get them to his party.

As long as there is a PRO-UNP president there is NO hope for SL and MR.

  12. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

    Lorenzo,

There is no way Maithripala wins 50 MPs, as it is obvious to all that he is simply a front for Ranil and the UNP.

  13. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

What many people don’t realize is Maithripala only got about 2 million votes on his own, and the other 4 million came from the UNP and the minorities. At least half (1 million) of these Maithripala voters now are disgruntled and feel they were tricked by Maithripala into voting for Ranil and a UNP-led government. These 1 million voters are going to vote for Mahinda and his candidates this time around, which should give Mahinda a popular vote majority AND a majority in Parliament, but he MUST challenge each one of the 30 disloyal SLFP MPs who now have portfolios in Ranil’s government with his own pro-Mahinda candidates. Even if pro-Mahinda candidates only win half of these MP seats from the 30 disloyal SLFP MPs, Mahinda will have a majority in Parliament.

  14. Independent Says:

“At least half (1 million) of these Maithripala voters now are disgruntled and feel they were tricked by Maithripala into voting for Ranil ”

    – No. My3 has less than 200000 votes. But there were 2.2 million ant-Rajapakse votes excluding minorities. What kind of percentage has comeback ? My guess is less than 1/2 million. Others will now go to UNP. Since there is no split, there will be a close fight.

  15. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

    Independent,

There were not 2.2 ‘anti’-Rajapaksa voters outside of the UNP and minorities. These 2 million voters fell for the ‘good governance’ crap of Maithripala and at least half of them now know that was simply a fraud to get their vote. There is nothing ‘good’ about covering up bond fraud like Ranil did with his so-called ‘independent’ committee of UNP loyalists who did the investigation, and Maithripala assisted in this cover-up by dissolving Parliament a day before the COPE report on the bond fraud was to be released and reported on in Parliament.

Now the Maithripala voters know that Maithripala is simply a front for Ranil and the UNP, and these jokers are definitely no better than Mahinda when it comes to good governance, and are actually worse than Mahinda on a number of issues, including the economy and economic development and security in the North and East. And the cost of living fraud of the UNP-led government is currently being exposed by local oil companies who indicate that they are now not able to make any money at the artificially low petrol prices and may have to go out of business unless they are subsidized by government tax money.

The key for Mahinda is not only winning the popular vote to be PM, which gives him a huge psychological advantage and moral claim, but it is winning a majority of the Parliament seats, and this requires him to field pro-Mahinda candidates against each of the 30 SLFP traitors who now have minister portfolios with Ranil and the UNP government. Ranil will be counting on these 30 MPs after the August election to continue his minority rule, so Mahinda needs to break the back of Ranil by replacing these 30 MPs with pro-Mahinda MPs.

  16. Kumari Says:

MS’s instructions are to break the SLFP and put the blame on Mahinda. Best thing for the Mahinda group is to oust MS from the party as he contested against SLFP.

  17. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

    Kumari,

It is strange that the SLFP cannot oust Maithripala with a simply majority vote of SLFP MPs. No major political party anywhere in the world operates this way, as you could end up with the situation you have now with the SLFP with a carpetbagger who is really loyal to the opposing party running your party with minority support.

Obviously, SLFP needs some rule changes so that a majority of MPs in the party can control who their leaders are.

  18. Lorenzo Says:

    MR,

Right on that one. As long as My3 remains president he will be the SLFP leader. This is the SLFP constitution which CANNOT be changed by a simple majority.

It is like UNP which had the RUN-NIL LOSER as leader despite many challengers.

But DISAGREE with you analysis. UNP will get MOST disgruntled My3 votes. Not MR. UNP goes around the country blaming the SLFP and MR for their FAILURE to do things. People seem to believe it because ALL private media (except Derana TV) and ALL state media say the same thing. Even social media say the same thing!!

Social media is VERY VERY popular. Look at NEW SINGHALA SONGS. They have hits in MILLIONS nowadays because MILLIONS of young people have access to the internet. MR camp has lost the social media battle. Few including me cannot do it alone. All big talking consultants here should do their share in facebook. Otherwise forget about young voters.

  19. Fran Diaz Says:

Whatever plans are made, concerned people ought to first make that there will be no further CHEATING at the forthcoming Elections, as was done at the Presidential Elections 2015.

  20. Lorenzo Says:

    Fran,

There is nothing “concerned people” can do. It is like SADDAM HUSSEIN’s elections.

  21. Independent Says:

“Young voters” will never come back to MR camp. They will vote UNP, JVP, JHU – they don’t care about “big” parties.
But surely there were “fed up” votes too. These votes not going to change .

But having one SLFP has clearly ruined Runil’s plans. He wanted to take advantage of split. SLFP “old” votes. Now old style SLFP votes will be intact.

Yet it is a uphill task to beat UNP with the same bunch of candidates.

If polls were rigged during MR’s time , whose fault is that ? It will definitely be rigged again now.

  22. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

MR SHOULD NOT HAVE WAITED TO COLLECT SOME CRUMBS FROM MY3> I EMAILED HIM SO MANY TIMES TO FORM HIS OWN PARTY AND GO IT ALONE. HE STILL THINKS THAT MY3 WILL HELP HIM. A LOUD ***NO***My3 is a cheat, a trickster, the most unreliable friend, a back stabber, he is a person who will eat with you, and then SPIT on you. IT LOOKS LIKE MR IS HIPNOTIZED BY MY3. MR SHOULD BREAK THE CURSE BY GOING IT ALONE. I WONDER WHETHER IT IS TOO LATE TO MAKE CHANGES IN MID AIR.

ALL SINHALESE PEOPLE SHOULD VOTE FOR MR. PERIOD.

  23. Independent Says:

    MB,
I don’t agree with your argument, it is childish to me. ( anyway I probably know your father).

  24. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

    Lorenzo,

I do not know how the voter is going to blame the SLFP for the government’s problems when most (80%) are NOT part of the government at all and the 30 MPs that are in the government are consigned to minor, deputy, and state ministerships.

Social media is important, and I suspect as MR gets going he will definitely have a presence there. There are obviously a lot more pressing matters like who is MR going to field against the 30 SLFP traitors to make sure Ranil doesn’t do the minority government thing again.

the biggest threat I see right now is coming from people like Fonseka that are being put forward by the Americans and the UNP to divide the Sinhala vote and siphon more votes from MR just like they did with Maithripala in January. Ranil does not want it to be a simple contest between him and MR or he will lose so he is constantly looking for a ‘front’ person to siphon Sinhala votes from MR. We will see if the voters are smart enough to figure this out this time around that “a vote for Fonseka is REALLY a vote for Ranil and the UNP”

  25. Kumari Says:

I read that the American, British and Indian ambassadors /high commissioners met with traitor My3 and strongly objected to giving nominations to Mahinda from SLFP. Even if the country goes up in flames, our traitor can care less now. After all appointment of Ranil to PM was to please the foreigners. Traitor loves to fall at their feet. He loves to be their slave.

Now MR camp must make a clear break and form their own party or go with another party in the UPFA.

  26. Lorenzo Says:

    MB,

The average voter is not as informed as you and I. He does NOT care about things we care. His main concern is HOW to survive another year, HOW to get his kids raised, HOW to enjoy life.

Fonseka is a lost case now. BIGGEST threat to MR comes from Maru Sira’s SLFP or whatever. Maru Sira has asked CHAMAL Rajapaksha to be the PM candidate. A wise choice. He will also have SB and other thugs who can win votes.

I NEVER blame the voters. A GOOD politician can get their vote.

  27. Independent Says:

“the biggest threat I see right now is coming from people like Fonseka ..” – not a “lone” Fonseka.

Fonseka said he is ready to lend SWAN to any alliance against MR. Kumari may be right this time. MR will have to contest outside SLFP. If this happens, Ranil’s original plan ( made in January) of letting MR come forward will work for UNP.

  28. Metteyya_Brahmana Says:

    Lorenzo,

I am pretty sure it is going to be a group decision headed by Mahinda, and Chamal is part of the group.

The voter is not as educated as many of us, but they do know Maithripala tricked them into supporting a government headed by Ranil and the UNP. It is doubtful that they will be tricked again, but Fonseka is trying to do this by reviving the Swan symbol used by Maithripala and running under it.

I don’t see how Mahinda can contest from the SLFP, even as the Prime Minister candidate, and remove Ranil’s 30 SLFP MPs who have enabled Ranil to impose minority-rule. Granted, these MPs are more self-interested, and Mahinda can at least match Ranil’s offers of minor, deputy, and state ministerships, but unlike the Westminister model Sri Lanka is trying to emulate, there are no clear rules on ‘who’ gets to try to form a government first and for how long. If they follow Westminister, and Mahinda and his party get the most seats (but less than a majority), he should have first crack at forming a government for at least 30 days before anyone else can be considered. But due to the lack of clarity in the 19th Amendment, Ranil will pounce even if he loses in August and try to round up the same 30 SLFP MPs that are now part of his government.
