එක්සත් ජාතික පක්‍ෂය විසින් සිය පක්‍ෂ ජාතික ලයිස්තු මන්ත‍්‍රී ධුර සඳහා භික්‍ෂුන් නම් නොකිරීමට තීරණය කර ඇතැයි මාධ්‍ය වාර්තා පල වෙමින් තිබේ.
මෙම තීන්දුව වෙනස් කරගැනීම සඳහා සාකච්ඡා පැවතුනද එජාප ප‍්‍රබලයින්ගේ දැඩි විරෝධය මත එම සාකච්චා අසාර්ථක වී ඇතැයිද වාර්තා වෙයි.
පින්තූරයේ දැක්වෙන්නේ එජාප ජනහමුවක වේදිකාවේ සිටින රතන හිමියන් හා අගමැති රනිල් වික‍්‍රමසිංහ මහතායි
United National Party has decided that Buddhist monks not to be included in the national list seats or give nomination to contest under UNP. This decision results in losing the position offered to Rathana Thera in the national list before nomination
However further negotiations also failed to lift this sanction due to the strong objection received from the party hierarchy.

GREEN UNP is like the green NORTHERN IRELAND. There is a battle between Catholics and other Christians within!!
There is a BIG hidden battle within the UNP between the CATHOLIC SECT and the EVANGELICAL SECT – the 2 most pwoerful sects of the UNP.
Catholic sect – Run-nil, Joseph Michael Perera, John Amaratunga, Karuppaih, Charmpaka, Gonshot, etc.
Evangelical sect – Sajith, Rosy, Eran, etc.
UNP MINORITIES – Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims – are DIVIDED.
The Buddhist minority of the UNP prefer the EVANGELICAL SECT while the Hindu and Muslim minorities prefer the CATHOLIC SECT.
