Posted on October 8th, 2015

Dear All,

We, Global Sri Lankan Forum contacted his wife and family and made a visit.

And following actions have been taken.

  1. Appointing  a senior lawyer to follow up the his Appeal – for this we are in contact with Gomin Dayasiri; and a senior lawyer is now being appointed – our initial budget for this is Rs. 300,000.00
  1. Complete his partly built house – see the attached photos – the budget is Rs. 500,000.00 – for this we have  circulated a Face Book post – pls. refer  to attached FB link. We have assigned Ven. Bengamuve Nalaka Thero’s account for these projects.

  1. For his little daughter; 3 years, refer to attached photo – we are planning to give a scholarship from next January 2016 on ward Rs. 5,000.00 per month once she started  the pre-schools.

Let’s support this War Hero.

A pro-LTTE Tamil diaspora NGO in the UK has funded the entire court case fee for one Sinhala Lawyer.

It is shame no Sinhala lawyer appeared for him only a government appointed lawyer has appeared for him!

Let’s support him and his family.

Ajantha

Please post how to contribute this worthy cause. Lorenzo and and others please be proactive.

  2. Lorenzo Says:

    Absolutely helaya.

We must help him and family.

What a fuckked up country is SL! Bloody terrorists are released and given new houses, pipe water and free electricity, our WAR HEROES have half completed houses (AS I SAID in another article comments) and jail terms.

We must help him. Please provide bank account details and SWIFT code too.

  3. Fran Diaz Says:

Could someone explain how this has come about :

“A pro-LTTE Tamil diaspora NGO in the UK has funded the entire court case fee for one Sinhala Lawyer” ??

    Also, who is Ajantha ?

  4. Ramanie Says:

A worthy cause indeed. Please provide details of bank accounts etc and we shall contribute. Our prayers are with the family. It breaks one’s heart to see how our heroes live even today! Compare them to how ex-LTTE leaders live! Lorenzo, I am with you on this!

The way we treat our war veterans speaks volumes not about them but about us as a nation! It seems we have no self-respect! No pride in ourselves as a nation and we think we are slaves of the rich white people! (Ooops! I think I inadvertently described our “leaders Sira- Ranil- Awamangala & Chaura regina)!!!! Crying shame when we actually are capable of such greatness!!!!

MMM will need to better coordinate this FURTHER very soon when the HYBRID COURT starts grilling our POOR SOLDIERS.

More soldeirs will need money to hire lawyers.

VERY FEW lawyers know about WAR CRIMES LAW. It is not their daily case!!!! Fighting against seasoned foreign counsel is going to be bloody difficult and expensive.

AG department comes under the UNP Tamil Nadu govt. They will selectively appoint lawyers for soldiers not with the best intention to save them.

  8. Independent Says:

Facebook link is showing an account of a Buddhist monk.
I thought we have Sinhala lawyers who need not charge so money for these cases.
    Gomin Dayasiri is not poor.
Couldn’t hey prove this man had PTSD?

  9. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

    Independent
Read the Item No 2 in the article. It says “We have assigned Ven. Bengamuve Nalaka Thero’s account for these projects”.

  10. Cerberus Says:

This whole article is confusing. There is mention of Gomin Dayasiri as the lawyer. Has he agreed to participate? There is mention of the Rev. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero’ s account. Has he agreed to do so? There should be statements from both of these people if there is to be any credibility about the project. Without any credibility there will be no money from anyone.

Also there is mention of the Pro_LTTE group funding a Sinhala lawyer. Does it mean that LTTE is funding the court case for Sunil? Who is Ajantha?

Lorenzo is talking about Manel Mal movement. What is it and where do they fit in to the whole thing. When MY3 wants to spend Rs. 180 millions for his palace and another Rs. 70 million for his BMW car where are his priorities. There are so many projects such as this one deserving his attention.

  11. Lorenzo Says:

    Cerberus,

Go to the facebook link in the article to get the bank account.

Rev. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero manages this AND the Manel Mal movement.

IF we can win this court case then we can use it as a TEMPLATE to save THOUSANDS of other war heroes when the HYBRID nonsense starts.

  12. Independent Says:

Go after these people and save 300000 legal fees (not need to give it to rich GOMIN and give it to the lady. We all awre how rich are the so called Gods. They can pay the whole amount in 1 single cheque.

Alleged war crimes: Govt. to defend troops
    View(s): 421

The Government will hire counsel and pay legal costs to military personnel who may face charges of war crimes. The assurance has been given to military officers by Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka. He has been tasked by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to speak to officers and men of the armed forces on the findings in the OISL report.

The Army which played a key role in the 2009 defeat of the LTTE and now under fire from the UNHRC, yesterday celebrated its 66th anniversary with a colourful parade at its camp in Panagoda. Army Chief Crishanthe De Silva is seen taking the salute.

During different meetings, Minister Ranawaka has explained the various recommendations and the Government’s position vis-à-vis them. The prospects of officers or other ranks in the armed forces facing charges of war crimes appeared minimal in the light of mechanisms the Government is putting in place.

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera told the Sunday Times that those facing accusations would be able to make confessions to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Such a case would come up before the Compassionate Council of eminent religious leaders who can recommend a pardon, he said.

However, he said ideas on how to frame the investigative mechanism, even with foreign participation, would emerge only after the consultation process with all stakeholders. The Government wants to end

these consultations by January next year. He insisted that this was not a “hybrid” mechanism. “To make it credible we need the help of foreign experts,” he said.

However, it would be the Special Counsel who will finally decide on the course of action. Such a special counsel or prosecutor, the Sunday Times learns, will function in a proposed High Court for War Crimes.

  13. Fran Diaz Says:

In Democratic countries, it is the law for Army Tribunals to look into complaints of excesses, if any ?

Who looks into the excesses of the LTTE for over 30 yrs and writes a Report on the matter for foreign countries & the UNHRC to view ?
Such a Report must include the country that trained the LTTE.
