Sarath Fonseka should join  Mahinda and Gotabhaya Rajapakse in the interest of Sri Lanka to force withdrawal of  USA resolution, sponsored by Ranil

By Charles. S.Perera

Mahinda Rajapakse, Gotabhaya Rajapakse and Sarath Fonseka were the trio that brought terrorism in Sri Lanka to a conclusion. The breaking up that trio was the desire of the West manipulated by the Tamil diaspora to isolate Mahinda Rajapakse and bring charges of war crimes against Gotabhaya Rajapakse.  Not only they planned the break up, but also made him a political rival of  the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Naturally the idea of the possibility of becoming the President of Sri Lanka may have tempted Sarath Fonseka to give into USA State Department to consent to become a part of the USA effort of regime change.

What really made Sarath Fonseka breakaway from his natural friends to become a foe of the President and Gotabhaya who made him  a hero and made what he is as he himself  said in a Television Interview.

When Mahinda Rajapakse won the Presidential election in 2005, Gotabhaya Rajapakse who had by then retired from the Sri Lanka Armed Forces had come to Sri Lanka to be with his brother. He was naturally invited by Mahinda  Rajapakse to be with him to take over the Defence Ministry and help him  in the settlement of  the terrorist issue.  He had accepted.

When Sarath Fonseka who was then scheduled to retire knew about it requested Gotabhaya Rajapakse to  allow him to continue to serve in the  Army . Sarath Fonseka knew  with Gotabhaya as the Defence Secretary there is finally the appropriate people in place to end terrorism militarily. That  had been his unrealised dream, working under  then Presidents JR, Premadasa, and Chndrika .

Gotabhaya Rajapakse had requested  his brother the President to stop the retirement  of Sarath Fonseka and allow him to continue in Service as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.  Accordingly Sarath Fonseka was sworn in as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on  6 December, 2005.

Gotabhaya Rajapakse was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Sri Lanka Army  and had fought the LTTE terrorists along side Sarath Fonseka .  Theywere brothers in Arms.  Decent people build bonds of amity  that stand through time not allowing personal interests or  material advantages to break them.

When Jaffna was under siege by the terrorists the then Colonel Sarath Fonseka led the successfulmidnight express” operation along with the Lieutenant Colonel Gotabhaya Rajapakse to rescue hundreds of besieged soldiers. Lt.General Fonseka was the victim of a suicide bomb on  25 April, 2006 in which he was seriously injured and nine others were killed.  He recovered rapidly and joined the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse and President Mahinda Rajapakse  to  continue the battle against the terrorists eliminating them  in May, 2009.

Sarath Fonseka’s friend  in arms  Gotabhaya Rajapakse is himself  a veteran soldier . He was commended  by the former President  J.R.Jayawardhane  for his bravery and was awarded Rana Wickrama Padakkama. President R.Premadasa and President Wijetunga  awarded him with the  Rana Sura Padakkama for valour in combat  and bravery in action.

Gotabhaya Rajapakse lead under his Command the 1st Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment in the  Vadamarachhci Operation in 1987 and Operation Thrividabalaya in 1990 to rescue Jaffna peninsula and the Jaffna Fort from terrorist control. He escaped  a terrorist suicide bomb attack on his life  on  1st December,2006.

This is the metal of which  Gotabhaya Rajapakse is made and  such is the man the former criminals of the JVP and Ranil Wickramasinghe’s FCID and Maithripala Sirisena’s Presidential investigation Commission is trying to vilify by their silly” interrogations.

Sarath Fonseka should therefore be honoured to be on the side of a friend  like Gotabhaya rather than with Ranil Wickramasinghe, Ravi Karunanayake, Mangala Samaraweera and Lakshman Kiriella who mocked the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, and who are now preparing to allow foreign judges and prosecutors    to try the valiant Armed Forces of Sri Lanka for war crimes.

Sarath Fonseka had knowingly or unknowingly fallen into a trap set by the USA State Department to break up the Sri Lanka’s honoured  trio Mahinda Rajapakse, Sarath Fonseka and  Gotabhaya Rajapakse, to become a tool of USA in its abject policy of regime change.

Somewhere in November or December, 2009 Maithripala Sirisena now the President of Sri Lanka made a statement  that the West is making use of Sarath Fonseka to bring  a regime change in Sri Lanka.

Probability of this attempt to win over Sarath Fonseka to the side of USA to plan a regime change in Sri Lanka, became evident  viewed from the USA’s role in the Pedro Carmen’led coup to bring down the Venezuelan head of state  President Hugo Chavez in April 2002. The decision to chase Chavez from power had been planned  six months before. The key players of the coup were from the Venezuelan  navy and air force: Pedro Carmona,  Vice Admiral Carlos Molina, Air Force Colonel Pedro Soto.  They had been met by USA and Molina and Soto had received  US$ 1000,000 each  from a Miamy Bank to denounce Chavez.

It had been later found that US funnelled around million US Dollars to the Organisation that moved the idea of anti-Chavez coup through the National Endowment for Democracy( of which Chndrika is a member). USA had recognised the coup as a regime change”

The modern US foreign policy is that if a head of State of a country is considered acting against the interest of USA, it starts plans with the opposition of that country, anti government factions, and its military personnel for a regime change.

Isn’t it therefore possible that US department had been using Sarath Fonseka  as a possible tool in their plan to remove Mahinda Rajapakse from power ?

There were speculations as to what exactly was the reason why Sarath Fonseka went to America immediately after winning the military operations against the terrorists and eliminating terrorism.  Was it really to see his daughters and renew his green card  or  did he have other motives ?

It has been said that during his visit  the US Department of Homeland Security had requested Sarath Fonseka to volunteer to answer questions on the crimes allegedly committed by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse

This prompts  the question, did Sarath Fonseka’s recent trip to U.S had other ulterior motives than visiting his daughters and renewing his U.S green card?

During the visit the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requested Fonseka to volunteer and answer questions on the crimes allegedly committed by Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Sarath Fonseka has allegedly agreed  to meet with the officials of the US Department of Homeland Security, without informing either the Sri Lanka Embassy  or the Defense Secretary.

What was really being discussed under the pretext of  an interview by the US Department of Homeland Security ? Was it really the US Department of Home Security that was requesting the interview ?

Were there plans to conduct a coup after the defeat of the LTTE? Was Sarath Fonseka’s running for the Presidency against Mahinda Rjapakse a part of a plan hatched abroad to bring down the Mahinda Rajapakse Government ?

Why did Sarath Fonseka had a secret meeting with the US Ambassador  Patricia Butenis  after his return from USA ?

That is not all. Why did Sarath Fonseka leave to China to visit the Arms Suppliers, at a decisive moment in the final stage of the military operations against the terrorists ?

The improbable answer he had given when he was asked was that he had been invited by the Chinese arm suppliers two years before  and the tickets he had been given were due to expire and he wanted to use the tickets before the expiry of their validity. He had said that he had gone with the permission of the Defence Secretary.

Did the Defence Secrtetary smelt something fishy in Sarath Fonseka’s visit to China at that crucial time ?

Were the Forces behind Sarath Fonseka planning to drag on the war for some more time and force the President Mahinda Rajapakse to stop the war and bring Prabhakaran to the negotiating table ?

Incidently Sarath Fonseka had said that there would not be a hero’s day speech by Prabhakaran, but instead of that there would be peace talks with Prabhakaran.  Wasn’t it that the West wanted ?

The accusation that 3500 civilians were killed came after General Sarth Fonseka had left the country to China and Gotabhaya had taken over the Command of the Army.

Why did Sarath Fonseka wanted to procure arms after almost defeating the terrorists ? Why was there a mass gathering of battle tanks on the 60th anniversary of the Army ? Were they to be turned towards the temple trees?

Sarath Fonsek and the forces behind him were  backed by the West, and no one could have saved Mahinda or Gotabhaya Rajapakse if there was a military coup.

There had been a long held plan by the USA government to hold the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse responsible for war crime charges. There are doubts about the officials supposed to have been from the US Department of Home Security  that contacted Sarath Fonseka  to arrange an interview.

In this respect there are statements made by the former Foreign Minister Bogollagama ( strange that he has still not been taken by Ranil Wickramasinghe’s FCID for investigation.Perehaps he may be taken soon) in the Praliament about Sarath Fonseka’s  safe return  home , he had said  that there is an organisation in USA called the Tamils against Genocide, which is trying to trap various Sri Lankan Officials. He did not elaborate on it.

Quote:

“For the past year I have written about Bruce Fein in many articles that have been widely published and circulated. He is reportedly paid $100,000 per month to tell lies in Washington about the government of Sri Lanka, and to take it to the International Courts – along with its Defence Secretary, Army Commander and Chief Presidential Advisor – with charges of genocide and other war crimes supposedly committed against the Tamils in Sri Lanka. During the past year Mr. Fein has worked for three LTTE front organizations; his current client is a US based orgniasation called “Tamils against Genocide.”

“………. Recent actions and policy decisions made by the US government indicate that Mr. Fein has gotten the ear of Hillary Clinton, Senator Patrick Leahy (current chairman of the Judiciary Committee) and Senator Robert Casey (Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee).”

End quote. (The Island, 11.06.09)

All this goes to show from where came the material for Zaid Ra’adh Al Hussains UN Report which ended up as the US resolution against Sri Lanka sponsored by the destructive government of Maithripala Sirisena an Ranil Wickramasinghe.

This is a long held plan by the USA  on the request of the Tamils against Genocide, its Attorney Bruce Fein and others heavily paid by the blood money of the Tamils against Genocide.

If Sarath Fonseka ever comes to read this he will now know th        at he had been used as a cats paw by the USA and its local Agents Chandrika and Ranil Wickramasinghe, to put in place a plan masterminded by the Tamils against Genocide bagging into its scheme the US Government.

Sarath Fonseka should now realise that his ending up in a prison cell after helping in the elimination of terrorism in Sri Lanka was his own making.  He should at least now understand that his place is with Gotabhaya Rajapakse and Mahinda Rajapakse, and not with anti Sri Lanka UNP , pseudo Marxist JVP playing its true roll with the UNP, American Agent Chandrika, unreliable Mangala Samaraweera, or the Tamil Ravi Karunanayake.

Every patriot worth being called such should join hands with all to make the Sirisena Ranil Government to openly refuse to accept the Said Ra’adh Al Hussain’s UN Report and reject it as it is evident that the purpose of the US Resolution was to make the Tamils against Genocide achieve what the terrorists had failed to achieve and set up their Tamil Eelam State downgrading the sovereignty of Sri Lanka.

  1. Independent Says:

Why don’t you talk to Fonseka and find out whether he would like your idea first ?
All you predictions gone wrong lately. So think, research and write than “just write”.

    Charles,

    If you want this

“Sarath Fonseka should therefore be honoured to be on the side of a friend like Gotabhaya rather than with Ranil Wickramasinghe, Ravi Karunanayake, Mangala Samaraweera and Lakshman Kiriella who mocked the Sri Lanka Armed Forces”

    you should NOT say this

“Isn’t it therefore possible that US department had been using Sarath Fonseka as a possible tool in their plan to remove Mahinda Rajapakse from power ?”

The problem with MR, GR and SF is that they NEVER EVER accept they were WRONG. Blaming them NEVER works.

Unless they join together and fight the COMMON ENEMY, they are all going to end up in jail. MR, GR, SF, SS, JCD, PS, WK, SW, etc. should come together and do another regime change. Otherwise there is NO WAY they will be safe from WAR CRIMES VULTURES.

Now Maru Sira wants his budget increased by half a billion to build a PALACE, buy a luxury new fleet of BMW cars and BMW motorbikes.

  3. Independent Says:

Please read the facts by DJ.

“With no education or experience, SajinVaas Gunawardena was appointed Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs and Advisor on International Relations to the President (a post held by Bradman Weerakoon during the Premadasa presidency) and travelled to Geneva since late 2011 to manage the sessions. Apart from me– the frontline Ambassador/PR– almost the entire Geneva team of May 2009, from the Cabinet level through Mohan Pieris downwards, was deployed in Geneva when we were defeated in 2012 (under Sajin’s conspicuous de facto management). I was serving in neighboring France but was not deployed by the administration to advise or reinforce the team (though I declined the sidelined, soon to be scapegoated and sacked Ambassador Kunanayakam’s personal invitation to do so). Sri Lanka lost 3 years running from 2012 in the Council, with the West escalating and phrasing of resolutions getting steadily worse –and GoSL never managed to regain its advantage. It neither knew how we had won in 2009 – and therefore how to win–or why we had lost in 2012 onwards!

Meanwhile the proof of the pudding was in the eating. When Professor GL Peiris visited France during my stint and met the Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, the word ‘accountability’ never came up in the conversation.

While serving in France as Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, I had been one of a small group of activist ambassadors who helped convince the UNESCO on an issue that President Obama himself had taken a stand against and the US had threatened a huge (60%) budget cut. We helped the Palestinians, who had a Mission of two (led by the stellar intellectual Ambassador Elias Anbar), beat the diplomacy of the mighty USA which deployed none other than Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Paris to lobby UNESCO against the entry of Palestine as a member. As (ex) Ministers Tissa Vitarana and Jagath Balasuriya who were there at the time would attest, we secured more votes than the two thirds needed for Palestine’s entry.

After my stint in France ended in Jan 2013, I was not posted back to Geneva to troubleshoot the alarming crisis. If I had been, perhaps the UNHRC resolutions of 2013 and 2014 might have played out differently. We might have at least drawn the game.

Perhaps the last chance to get off the accountability hook was the LLRC report presented by President Rajapaksa’s close friend former AG CR (“Bulla”) de Silva. We had worked together when I was ambassador in Geneva. As Minister Nimal Siripala Silva will attest, at his nieces wedding (she was one of my secretaries when I served in Paris) CR de Silva told me that he had told President Rajapaksa that the report was the best shield he could provide for Sri Lanka and that the president agreed. When I asked CR de Silva why it was being blocked and who by, he said it sure wasn’t Mahinda Rajapaksa. Even the Israelis had their own independent commission of inquiry after Gaza—headed by Emeritus Prof Yehezkel Dror, who incidentally, reviewed my book on Fidel’s Ethics of Violence for Amazon.com– but the LLRC report commissioned by the President was sought to be blocked by the hawks.

In addition, because of the Rathupaswela shooting which resulted from the criminal folly of sending heavily armed troops in battle dress into Gampaha to deal with unarmed civilians, and the Aluthgama violence, the failure to crackdown on the BBS with the attendant perception of state or security sector patronage or protection, we gave the US and the UN High Commissioner a significantly broader range of issues with which to strengthen the 2014 UNHRC resolution. That shooting, like the ones in Katunayake a year or two earlier, enabled the drafters of the resolution to include the post-war period into the texts. The Govt. made itself an easier target to hit.”

Now , how smart is to suggest MR, GR,SF get together to win the same battle which was already won by one man ,DJ in 2009. All the 3 are extremely capable of only loosing this kind of battle. If they allow battle to be fought with guns, the Charles’s proposal is the SMARTEST IN THE WOLRD. Otherwise it is just the opposite.

  4. ranjit Says:

Charles as always great to read your articles and this one is very interesting too. I wish General read this one and come to his senses. Correct it will be far away better for him to be with Gota,MR than the real traitors to my country Ranil/Sira/Choura/Awamangalaya/Rajithaya/Champaka and many more like them. Actually General Fonseka too did a great job defeating the Barbaric LTTE along with Gota and MR. Anyhow what he did after winning the war was not acceptable. At this moment he do not have any say in Sri Lanka politics with only twenty eight thousand votes all around Sri Lanka for his party. He should not take any side but go and retire and relax like a true soldier. If he do that many will respect him otherwise if he go behind MR and Gota and try to take revenge from them he will be nowhere. He will end up like a Unknown soldier.

To me these three were really great guys and I respect them all for their individual contribution to end the cruel war we had for thirty years. Those who never tried to end the war was always I regard them as traitors to this Motherland. MR and Gota should never be treated like ordinary citizens like the way they were treated now at any time. They did a miracle by defeating terrorism completely from our soil and should be respected as heroes by every citizen of this country. Because of them only we breath fresh freedom now. Do not follow Tamil or Muslim lovers. To protect the Sinhalese and the Sinhala nation all true Sinhala patriots must join together to fight Gays,Christians,Pimps,Prostitutes who are all combined in this Jarapalanaya Govt. The most vicious traitor to this land is Choura Regina who was the master mind behind the Jan 8th coup not anyone else. Hangman’s noose should be good for them not for poor people for treason.

  5. Charles Says:

Perhaps I should have put the title of the article differently. Sarath Fonseka’s visit to USA was the catalyst to US Resolution sponsored by Sri Lanka of Sirisena –Rani!.

USA seems to have already such a resolution prepared with the assistance of the Tamils against Genocide and was waiti ng for a regime change to allow a US and West Friendly Government to be set up to present it at the UNHRCouncil in Geneva.

The Sirisena-Ranil-Chandrika government is certainly the work of the CIA,MI6 and RAW with the support of the USA State Department

  6. Fran Diaz Says:

    Problems that beset Lanka :

Tamil plans for Eelam started a long time ago – in fact, as long as 1930’s !

Also, Caste Wars in Tamil Nadu started some 3,000 yrs ago !

Lanka’s accommodating good hearts have invited troubled people over as Cheap Labor and they have brought in their Caste/poverty/psychological problems over to Lanka.

Cold Wars and Globalisation have enhanced the problems.

We can have friendship with the west, but not total capitulation and division of Lanka to accommodate Tamil leaders aspirations. We also want a LASTING SECURITY & PEACE IN LANKA, not ‘boru asbandung bandage’ jobs.

FM Sarath Fonseka and all other Leaders of Lanka should get together to ensure that.

  7. Kumari Says:

Sri Lanka’s problem is us Sinhalese Buddhist. Some of us can be easily manipulated. We never stick together. The other communities, no matter what, irrespective of the character, background or the past of their candidate, they support their own. We practice democracy when others practice communal politics. As a result we don’t give enough power, enough backing, enough strength to our Sinhalese Buddhist leaders. Therefore, our elected leaders have to go to other communities to beg for votes. This weakens them. If Mahinda had the support of the 70% Sinhalese Buddhist vote plus another 5 – 10% of the other communities votes he would have made a dream come reality out of Sri Lanka. But we destroyed him and thereby ourselves and our country.

What Sirisena doing now is part of the script he was given. The plotters only wanted his Rural, Sinhala, Buddhist background to split the Sinhalese. Now he is dancing to their tune as he does not deserve what he got.

  8. Fran Diaz Says:

There is some truth in what Kumari says.
However, when the country is threatened, we do stick together but we have to learn that it is no use being overly critical of each other and this is a useless exercise and only plays into the ‘divide & rule’ of the British Empire.

What is happening now is that purely Democratic movements appear to be failing all over the world as bribe money corrupts some politicos of all hue.

Let’s admit it : Power corrupts, and absolute Power is even better, as some wag put it ! So it is ultimately the question of MONEY (Commissions etc) that oils the wheels of some politicos ? the ordinary folk pay a bitter price for wrongdoings at govt level.

How about creating a Parliamentary Fund into which all govt project commissions are put and this is equally distributed among all MPs ? Sounds pretty desperate, doesn’t it ? But there it is, desperate problems need desperate solutions. Any suggestions here ?

Also, an Economist in Switzerland suggested that each citizen of each country be given a small stipend enough at least for food. Any further suggestions to this futuristic idea ?

I might add that FREE birth control be available in every country that is over populated.

  10. LANKAPUTHRA Says:

Charles, OBAMA planed this in 2006. You want proof. I have it. MR family has to be got rid of Obama said this openly. Again Charles I don’t think Gota was in the front lines, I may be wrong. He was there but not in the front lines as you state. Why is MR family silent? It is because for them to be heard there must be a Parliament? Where is it? Why is this Election Commissioner not brought in to the open? Lorenzo and his family was threatened; so he backed off. Lorenzo wake up to over throw this government by the people and not Politions.

  11. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

AM BAS DOR LIONEL !!! You know everybody is throwing Brick Bats at Maru Siraa. He is a simpleton. He always travel in an ordinary aircraft. Media has highlighted this on many occasions. Ofcourse he is going to spend Millions and Millions to make his house a Palace, possibly 30 rooms, fully furnished. He loves to outshine all other Presidents. He saw no BMWs in Polonnaruwa. He will be riding in them very soon. As for the BMW M-BIKES, that is for his Dahamson to participate in Night Races and beat Namal. He travels into plush offices with his shirt out, hanging, as if after a fracas. That is typical kirama sevaka style. He loves to take his Carpet Bagger around, so that he can shake hands with Modi etc, without the glove. He was lucky, his son took him to the Portals of the YOU-AN, even though he put on a lost blank face, as if he wanted to do the Big Job, posing for the Press.

Nevertheless, we are all throwing water on a Duck’s Back.

AM BAS DOR !! Keep us on our toes.

  12. Fran Diaz Says:

    Charles,

The fastest growing communities in Lanka are the ones where NO birth control at all is practised because of religious beliefs. We all know what those are ….. and the Sinhala community is not one of them.

    ———–

We all also know that India is one of the most populous places on Earth and Sri Lanka is just next door to India !

Unless human beings take control of their own lives, we as a species are headed for a sad and bad future.

  13. Lorenzo Says:

Blaming and cursing Tamils or Singhalese or anyone else just because they didn’t vote for MR in sufficient numbers is racism. People have the right to vote for anyone. NO ONE can curse them for it.

Yesterday SF called on the govt. to punish “war criminals”. He is going back to his old ways. ANOTHER traitor.

  14. Lorenzo Says:

The problem in SL is TAMILS and HINDUS. They ALWAYS invaded SL and destroyed it. Don’t get sidetracked and shoot your own soldiers.

  15. Lorenzo Says:

    (In)dependent,

Unless MR, GR and SF stick together ALL 3 are going to get implicated in war crimes. One will blame the others. That is why their unity is needed in peacetime.

    Understand?

  16. Fran Diaz Says:

    The elections were rigged !

Anyway, it is a good thing that Sri Lankans are going through this soul searching. We have to get together and find lasting Peace and some prosperity for all here. But at present, it is vilifying our own people that is happening and pocket stuffing by some politicos.

We only wish that the despicable and idiotic, trumped up War Crimes and harassment of MR & family, warmed forces and previous MR govt would stop. We are not pleasing anyone here (not even the Colombians !) by doing these stupid things – “Uda balagena kela gahanawa ?” …….

Next he will take KASIPPU DODOLI to the UN!!

Ask any POLONNARUWA farmer who is KASIPPU DODLI aka HAAL HORA DODOLI aka WELI DODOLI or ARALIYA DODOLI, they will tell you.

    Welcome to GOOOO GOVERNANCE.

  19. nilwala Says:

Getting back to what Charles has to say about MR, GR and SF getting together as a political front (NOT as a military group) may be a viable option IF there is mutual trust, or if at least there is a lifeline in their being together at this dire time of Lankan history when all pointers are that “war crimes” are the real goal of the current GOSL. The latter may try to convince the People that the Defense Forces and the political leaders will be protected. It is a MIRAGE being created, and the People, other than the Yahapalanas, are wise enough to know it. TRUST NOT WIIHOUT VERIFYING!!

  21. LANKAPUTHRA Says:

Today, same thing happened to Stephan Harper in Canada. He called the election before its term was over. He was cocky like MR. He lost the election and Tudor’s son will be the next Prime Minister. How will he treat the Sinhala Majority no one will know? He will certainly not pull with Muslim OBAMA. But Tamils for OBAMA is a big force in Canada.

  22. Fran Diaz Says:

Canada works with the rest of the west. Mr Harper went with the signs of the times, as did MR. Lanka elections were rigged unlike in Canada. Mr Trudeau Jnr has won and he promises more refugee intake – like I said, signs of times.

We say again : Lanka Elections were rigged.
