Gampaha District UNP Parliamentarian Chatura Senaratne who is alleged to have threatened with death a group of young men in custody at the Ragama police was yesterday named as a suspect by police that made a further report in connection with the incident before Negombo Chief Magistrate Purnima Paranagamage.

The group of young men were arrested following a clash on September 14 between two parties over the lease of the Ragama hospital car park. Two men received injuries in the incident. Parliamentarian Chatura Seneratne had allegedly called over at the Ragama police and threatened the suspects in the police cell.

The parliamentarian, who had appeared before court previously in connection with the incident and made a statement to police on court order, was not present in court yesterday when the case was taken up. However the police that made a further report of investigations told court that the parliamentarian concerned would be named as a suspect.

Ragama police OIC P.K.Hettiarachchi and CI W.M.G.S. Gunasekara made submissions for the state.

Attorneys at Law Lakshan Dias, Tushara S Daskon, Priyantha Rajapakse, and Mahinda Sugathadasa appeared for Parliamentarian Chatura Seneratne. The case was postponed for November 19, 2015.
