The Joint Opposition led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s loyalists yesterday expressed their strong opposition to British involvement in military reforms in Sri Lanka.

Addressing the media at the N. M. Perera Centre in Colombo, former External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris said that accepting British funds for military reforms in Sri Lanka was a serious threat to the country’s national security.

According to a recent statement of British Prime Minister David Cameron’s office in UK, 6.6 mn pounds over a three-year period to support reconciliation, military reforms as well as displaced persons in Sri Lanka.

“Sri Lanka was a British colony then and got Independence by sacrificing lives, but it will become their colony again with this initiative,” Prof. Peiris said.

He said that PM Cameron had also offered to appoint a non-resident defence attache and access to UK military training courses to help Sri Lankan military reforms.

Prof. Peiris asked how a New Delhi-based UK military attache’ could handle and monitor funds for the Sri Lankan Army directly. Instead, he said the Sri Lankan government should fund the army without falling into a British trap.

The present government had planned to release 269 hardcore LTTE cadres and delist eight non governmental organisations which were accused of LTTE links, he said, adding that the same organisations were now campaigning around the world displaying LTTE flags as well as on social media networks for fund raising.

Prof. Peiris said the present government was working according to promises it had made to the international community and the TNA before the Jan. 08 presidential election.

“We will continue our protests with legal and political action against this anti-constitutional activities of the government,” Prof. Peiris said.

Former Minister and Ratnapura District MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Former Minister Prof. Tissa Vitarana also addressed the media.

Lorenzo can we have your Mahadenamutta opinion please if you are awake.

The ONLY at least part permanent solution (partial remedy) is to remove the Tamil language as a National & Official language of Lanka.

The other important remedy is to deport all illegal migrants in Lanka, and zero tolerance of illegal migrants in Lanka.

    Other solutions :

    * FREE birth control to all adults.

    * Resurrect the farming community from the Glyphosate disaster. Give free waterproof footwear to protect farmers working in water. Give COUPONS for fertiliser, not cash.

Foreign countries, especially those that colonised Lanka earlier, will continue to want to rule over and USE Lanka on a permanent basis. N&E, and Upcountry tea areas the most vulnerable areas.

Britosaurus Rex rises again, aided by RW & CBK using local yokel Prez MS !
India mesmerised into silence now, after training the LTTE in Tamil Nadu ?

Lankans will have to protect and nurture Lanka. No one else will do it for Lanka. Wake up, Lankans !

  3. Fran Diaz Says:

The fertiliser COUPONS must be non-transferable i.e. the name of the receipient farmer ought to be written on the COUPONS issued.

Use of tea plucking machines must be introduced on a large scale to Lanka. Tea plucking machines can be used by anyone. There are plenty of YouTube videos demonstrating this. Even hilly areas can be tackled by the smaller machines. Do not depend on hapless Tamil labor brought from Tamil Nadu’s over 15 Million Dalit Tamils who have been damaged, down trodden and villified for over 3,000 yrs. This is to ask for ongoing trouble in Lanka as these Tamil folk will be used by Tamil leaders to form Eelam, which in turn will be used by colonisers.

What is the JOINT OPPOSITION going to DO about it?

Making just statements is not enough.

It has to be challenged in SUPREME COURT if it is VERY ILLEGAL.

IF joint opposition gives EXCUSES not to challenge it, then people will NOT bother voting for them ever again.
