Nature teaches us lessons

Dr. Mareena Thaha Reffai,

Recently I moved into a house with a huge lawn. However I was  dismayed to find half of the lawn overgrown with weeds and it looked like I will have to re plant the buffalo grass. I asked  one veteran gardener to help me re-lay the lawn. When he  visited my lawn he gave me an amazing advice – just to remove the weed grass and to leave the few buffalo grass saplings that weres found underneath. Lo and behold! When I did just that, they grew fast and strong and I got a lovely full grown lawn without spending a cent! The weeds did not have strong roots so it was very easy to pluck them out unlike the good ones.

This set  me thinking. Isn’t it the same with life too? We had all the bad guys at the helm of our government and it looked like an impossible task to rectify the situation. But when the bad guys were removed the few good guys took over the yahaplanaya was born. The bad guys never had strong roots – they were easy to be removed.

However the story does not end there. When I neglect the lawn and let the weeds grow again – they do with a vengeance unless you remove them with roots – they overgrow the good lawn. The same with the bad politicos – until and unless they are rooted out lot, stock and barrel, they are sure to come again and mar the beauty of the new government.  This is exactly what is happening.

It is sad that we have got into the quagmire of JR’s bahubootha politics and seem to be  struggling with it having to look for numbers, parties and what not. Man made rules are meant to be remade. Constantly. There must be a way with the new President at the helm, this tight rope around the neck of the government and good governance to be removed.  If there is a will there will be a way. The good guys must figure out a way to keep the weeds at bay – for good.

The problem is ALL the MINISTERS (including the PM) in this govt. are CROOKS = WEED. They have to be removed for good people to come to power. Obviously their roots are in TAMIL MADU not in SL so they can be UPROOTED easily.

Loves what PUTIN does in Syria. IF the world had 3 more PUTINS all terrorism will be weeded out.

Good analogy . First time agree with you ( only on the analogy).

    Please watch this
    “http://www.hirutv.lk/76/salakuna/8302/episode22-pahiyangala-ananda-thero-risad-badhiutheen-2015-12-28.html”

This shows how the REAL WEED is growing why it spread rapidly after war ended.
Even watching the faces during debate is enough to recognise the REAL WEED and the REAL NATIONAL ENEIMIES and how this being done under UNP, SLFP and now UNP+SLFP governments.

How can save Sri Lanka from weed ? Bring back the weed which we thought is controlling the WEED ?

Nice to hear from Dr. Mareena after a long time. However, you seem to be referring to the Rajapakse government as bad and Sirisena government as good. I don’t see it that way. I see the rotten, unwinnable used a traitor to grab power. The new (the so called good guys) have no plans for the country. They are holding on to power using every trick in the book with the help of their pay masters.

LORENZO !! I really like your comments. CROOKS = WEEDS. Absolutely.

DR. MAREENA !! No Offense, Small correction:-LOCK, STOCK, AND BARREL.

KUMARI !! the so called good guys have sinister plans. Maru Siraa has absolutely no idea, where to start, to develop the Country. He is starting with “”stopping people walking Naked in the Country “” Good start EH ? NIT WIT.

Russia is doing the best weeding in Syria. Thanx Mr. Putin!

Jarapalanaya will be weeded out soon.
    TNA SLMC weeds also.

Red weeds – JVP. Fake patriot weeds – Jathika Hela Karumaya.

    Also the NGO weeds.

Last but not least the weed who is planting weeds in Wilpattu.
