- Which country goes sucking behind the very nation that dropped the atomic bomb killing millions in Japan, the nation that has no shame to militarily intervene by ordering its Christian NGOs to enter countries and pay money to promote lies and then create regime change and plant puppet local leaders who will say ‘yes’ to everything? Right again, only Sri Lanka.
- Which country is mad enough to allow a meddling and interfering nation that created the LTTE to build a rail and road link to Sri Lanka when it takes no rocket science to realize that a 1.3billion population can soon land and take over a 20million island? Yep, only Sri Lanka.
- Which country is stupid enough to allow UN and envoys of foreign nation to inspect its national security establishments? Right again, Sri Lanka
- Which country is proud to allow all foreign and economic policy to be whetted for approval by another nation? Spot on, its Sri Lanka.
- Which country has leaders who are proud to say they have made friends with foreign nations when these friends are notorious for bringing down entire countries and their economies and making the people of these countries slaves to the World Bank/IMF debt systems? You are right again, it is our buffoon politicians.
- Which country has leaders who to appease the forces that sponsored them imprisons the nations war heroes and intelligence officers charging they are terrorists while releasing the terrorists in prison? Funny state of affairs, isn’t it….!
- Which country allows foreign funded NGOs and their local lackeys who worship the white masters to draft the country’s new constitution when the people did not even ask for such? Right again, its Sri Lanka
- Which country has a proud Democratic Government called Good Governance Government that happily enjoys taking anyone and everyone who opposes them to the bribery commission, PRECIFAC, FCID or simply locks them up in prison while they can FIND reasons for locking them up? Funny isn’t it, well it is happening in Sri Lanka and the world is just watching.
- Which country has a leader who does not know whether he is coming or going and every time something goes wrong his immediate response is I didn’t know” – its only in Sri Lanka.
- Which country has the misfortune to put up with a PM who was happy to divide the country to the LTTE in 2002, allowed the LTTE to openly humiliate the armed forces, who kept on saying the war was unwinnable, who has somehow managed with the help of his white financiers to repeat all that he could not do throughout 2002-2004 now in 2015! Yes its Sri Lanka.
- Which country has leaders daft enough to co-sponsor a UN Resolution that claims the war criminals are the armed forces and not the LTTE! Yes it happens only in Sri Lanka.
- Which country has citizens who are so selfish and only think of themselves and failed to connect the dots to realize that in January 2015 they fell prey to bogus propaganda (though the faults of the previous regime helped add fuel to the fire) without realizing that though the previous government did have faults it was still the LESSER EVIL….? Sri Lanka
- Which country watches while the yahapalana government makes ministers out of losing candidates that the people have rejected and brings in a corrupt former President and makes her head of Reconciliation bogey? Spot on…only in Sri Lanka.
- Which country has leaders who wish to eliminate the historical Buddhist identity of this country because the country’s that are funding them are those with an agenda to Christianize Sri Lanka to make into another South Korea? Yep, Sri Lanka.
- Which country has leaders are proud to give the West and India land to make profit while the citizens will steadily be thrown into poverty and debt? Right again, its Sri Lanka.
- Which country has a media that was wailing and screaming about freedom and rights under previous regime but under yahapalana that freedom has meant to write ONLY against the previous regime only? Its Sri Lanka’s media….none of them have written a word in protest of the threats to the national security, the wrongful arrests of the intelligence officers, the intrusions by West and India.
Anyone wondering what yahapalana leaders have achieved this past year, does not need to go very far – the proof is in the pudding.
We are going behind nations that have ruined innocent lives across South America, Middle East, Africa, Asia and are continuing to do so because all that these Western nations are interested in is PROFIT, PLUNDERING, PROMOTING THEIR RELIGION, DEGRADING CULTURES and totally ruining the history, historical identity, culture and indigenous systems of nations. To do this they invest in creating Christian missionaries, Christian NGOs, Funding local lackeys to be their mouthpieces, promoting stupid slogans like multiculturalism, multifaith so they can demean the indigenous systems and craftily bring their religions and cultures in par with the indigenous and then slowly uproot the indigenous by making the innocent people believe that their religion is more powerful and superior.
Inspite of these realities the People of Sri Lanka are ignorant enough to feel that they are blessed to have these very western conspiring nations to partner with yahapalana leaders without realizing that they are slowly planning the division and disintegration of Sri Lanka.
They are changing the constitution, the administrative systems, they are putting puppets into key roles as officials so that their wishes will be realized before the people start turning against yahapalana for ruining the country….by which time yahapalana leaders and their families would have all got green cards to live overseas!
In the meanwhile the Suddas and the Never-to-trust Indians are laughing at the yahapalana leaders and officials who are bending backwards to please the white/Indian masters while they are enjoying making every change possible to make Sri Lankan a Western/Indian colony to fulfil the aspirations of breaking up China’s & Russia and the nations linked to them.

Only the military will be able to put an end to this disaster. But the military will have to have an outside country to help it cleanup this huge mess! It’s time SF forget the past and align with Gota and MR.

asoka2468, it will not take long before this hope on our military to do the job is vanished. West has thought and planned very well and Brits have already taken over the job to “restructure” our military establishment. Can someone workout what reasons we have to get our military “restructured” by an outsider when our military establishment has proved with substance that they operate extra efficiently compared to many western armies who have failed to fight terrorism? Brits will do the job to neutralize our military and will surely leave it in a mess.

I’m the first to bring that idea of MILITARY taking over SL and saving it since 2014.
But we have to keep MR and SF OUT of it. They are responsible for the MESS we are in and they are POLITICIANS. NO MORE.
GR, yes. But even GR has to abide by military rules. NO politics.
It has to happen BEFORE these jokers start the war crimes investigation and constitution changes. The military is still in good shape. RESTRUCTURING will take YEARS to take effect.
IF the military cannot takeover at the very least something must be done to remove the MODAYA GAMARALAYA from the scene. He doesn’t know what is happening and EVERYONE IS FOOLING him. After that a presidential election will be called. GR can contest and WIN it easily.
Karu J will be the ACTING president until then. After that UNP will split between Karu J and Run-nil. JVP CANNOT support ANY of them. TNA will be very tough because for 1 year it DID NOT get the BIG things it was promised.

I can think why our armed forces ( not just military ) have to be “restructured” ( without the obvious reason you are speculating). We must not be afraid to talk about these openly and acknowledge shortcomings of armed forces rather than easy critisism and blaming of the west.

> They have to be taught how to get information without torturing suspects ( I am refering to thousands suspected terrorists killed in 1988-1988 period. These killers have moved up and taken very high positions in the forces by year 2000+ and their political masters have become prime ministers and opposition leaders). Such cultrue is still there, you can see that from current police behaviour.
> They have to be taught how they should arrest the highly plcaed civilian offcers or politicians , if required, who make unjustifiable demands to fulfil their political agenda.

Actually, what we need is “restructuring” of all political devices including grassroots (much more than “military”). Our local governement councils include thugs mostly. This has to be stopped if we are to move forward.
What is happening today ( arrest of Ranaviruvos) is also a result of police and CID not knwoing how to behave when politicians try to “use” them. If some high officers of CID carrying out their “duties” to obey politicians without any conscience , you have to accept that out armed forces ( including police, military police and intelligence units) lack proper training.
If you mean by the statement “… our military establishment has proved with substance that they operate extra efficiently ” that torturing and killing innocent people (even after the war was over) to get rid of terrorism is a prerequisite for a good military, your mental status is severly corrupted.

There are BIGGER problems in SL than RESTRUCTURE the army, etc.
Our “bad” army brought peace in 1971, 1989 and 2009. Now they have to bring peace in 2016. There is no need to restructure them until the NEXT MISSION is complete.
You never restructure an army when it is on a mission!!! So hold your horses.

Indeed you were the first, Lorenzo, and there is no contesting that fact.
I note that your idea is now gaining more ground. If it is to happen it has to be by a ‘coup d’etat’. Yet the parliamentary system is the only reality which even our remotest villages know. As for the military top brass, no one will run that risk. We do not have a tradition, such as in Pakistan, of overthrowing a government by extra-parliamentary means.
This country needs a dramatic change. While the eventuality you propose, Lorenzo, is really worth a try, it nevertheless seems too remote.
This ‘one party-other party’ governments cannot take this country out of the quagmire in which it is sunk. The army crushing the LTTE was in some way the result of a ‘coup’, the people at the helm at that time acting like ‘coup leaders’. But immediately after victory and the tough talk, those very people donned their parliamentary personalities. So the fabulous initiative was nipped in the bud. Had that initiative continued the 13A would have been crushed as was the LTTE.
Finally a half job is NO JOB. And so we are at zero point.

You probably haven’t understood me I did not talk in support of proposed “restructuring military”. I was answering someone. That is OK.
I too agree to your idea, but you should know the head of military will never do that ( because of his training at Royal College and “Bass Unnehe” training followed that). It should come form some one two ranks below the top rank. Nevertheless I too have the same view as Mario).

We have to work with AVAILABLE people.
The same can be said about ANY govt. service. That is exactly what we are trying to REVERSE.
We are trying to beat totally USELESS, CORRUPT, LAWLESS politicians in quality. NOT first world politicians. I think it is easily achieved by the military.
Military leadership is educated, professional and disciplined THAN our politicians.
The good side of govt. SERVANTS is they are not a law to themselves.

What has happened to unity among senior Army officers?
The development of the Army depends on its unity. However, that unity has now been seriously compromised. The reckless conduct of certain past and present senior officers has led to that situation. That began at the top level, where former Army commanders and chiefs of staff (CDS) had been irritable towards each other. Furthermore, top officials at regimental level were divided and had broken into groups, which subsequently spread to the lower ranks. This situation worsened due to the dejection of officers, who had been victims of various injustices and vengeance. The most frightening thing here is that the young and junior officers who will take up the Army’s reigns in the future were being given a wrong precedence by all these.
Before 1980, officers were recruited on an annual basis for training courses, but during the war, recruitment was made within gaps of shorter periods due to demand for personnel. When many officers are equal in seniority, a big competition is created for key positions, which are limited in number. This is the case from the second in command of a division to commanding officer, brigade commander, security forces commander, volunteer force commander, deputy CDS, CDS and the commander of the Army.
Here, certain officers had resorted to acts not suitable for the military in order to reach their objectives. Especially, officers with less qualifications but are ambitious are going after politicians, slinging mud at qualified officers through various means, carry tales to the top and abuse the Army’s properties, money and personnel to promote their images. During the previous regime, those things had worked, but it is not so under the present administration, as demonstrated in the appointment of the most qualified officers to the positions of the CDS and the commander of the volunteer force. Their selection by president Maithripala Sirisena has proven correct, going by the performance of those appointees.
A majority of personnel has come to understand that it is essential that unity is restored among the ranks for the development of the Army. That is not difficult, since there are no reports that the government, the commander, CDS or the commander of the volunteer force had done injustice or taken revenge from any officer, and those who had been subjected to injustice and revenge had been appropriately compensated. If criterion is prepared for every top position and the appointments made accordingly, officers will be able to make a self-evaluation and determine as to whether they are suitable to hold those positions. Here, those deserving are given the due place and there is no cause or point for jealousy.

Re Lanka Army, it is already a done deal with the Brits, with Sir Ranil at the top conducting the demise of Democracy.
Whilst the two ‘Ugly Sisters’ (CBK & RW) from the Cinderelle story, are at the top and fawning over ex-Colonist countries, only slight leeway is possible. Lanka is already a Fascist type state.
Last laugh will be with Indo/Brit plans and Tamil leaders.

It would be better and easier if some of our politicos are given training in Ethics & Morality first, since they are the ones who give orders to the armed forces, police etc. The Batalanda case (RW) is such an event as is the Elephant Pass debacle where over a 1,000 army personnel died of dehydration (CBK). Of course, these are anti-National acts, quite forgotten by the enthusiasts of the ‘Ugly Sisters’.
As you say, today, politicos are the top folks in the country, not the armed forces. It is the politician who commands the army.
