SRI LANKA NEEDS NO PRESIDENT,  NEITHER  AN EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT, NOR AN EXECUTIVE PRIME MINISTER,  NO MORE.

ALL THAT SRI LANKA NEEDS IS AN HONEST,  DEDICATED, PATRIOTIC, EXPERIENCED, EDUCATED, ELECTED, GENTLEMAN, **PRIME MINISTER**,  TO GOVERN SRI LANKA,  WITH THE ELECTED MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, WHO WILL BE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE LEGISLATIVE POWERS.

This is just my point of view. We have had a string of Presidents up to the present. All the aforesaid Presidents, have at some time or other, resorted to despicable,  sordid  indecisions  of Governance. I do not wish to individually, wash dirty linen, of each President. Every one will know what they are. These indecisions,  knowingly that they are not within the Constitution of Sri Lanka, NOT within their Moral rights and obligations, and that they are harmful to the greater section of the Sri Lankan Voter, have been forced down the throats with perverse, retarded arrogance, of Executive Power.  The voters Rights, Human Rights, have been shattered to smithereens, with absolutely no recourse.

The EXECUTIVE POWERS OF THE PRESIDENT has brought about a fear psychosis, amongst the Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament, and all politicians, that they will lose any perks, and priviledges, they presently enjoy, as it is seen even now, how the chess board is manipulated.  It is a fear that is latent with Executive Stares and Threats, of personal loss.

Equally true, All Politicians of all hues, and at all stages of power, act perversely and sordidly misusing their trust and powers,  that carry with the title they are empowered with.  It is the Perverse Side of the Executive Power that decides whether the Political Miscreants should be punished or not.  People who have been  imprisoned  for extremely punishable offences, are Presidentially Pardoned, and get off scot free, dis-emboweling the sacredness of the Sri Lankan judiciary.  It is a humiliating process for our revered Judges. It is tantamount to negating the Judiciary  by a vile, loathsome, ignoble, Executive Presidential Power. This Damning, Disgusting  Power has to be put to rest. NOT TO BE TAMPERED, AND REMNANTS  ARCHIVED FOR FUTURE USE.

Along with the Presidential Executive Powers, the entire PRESIDENTIAL SECURITY DIVISION HAS TO BE DISMANTLED, which is predominantly composed of Under-World Thugs, Rowdies, Strong men used as Bouncers as in Casinos. They wield the same powers as their BOSS, even without any permission granted. These PSD personnel have been used by the Presidential Siblings to provide security for them to go to Tourist Hotels, and harass  Foreign Tourists Females. The moment the PSD is dismantled, there will be a surge in the Under-World. The Law Enforcement Authorities should reign them in.

THE PRIME MINISTER WILL HAVE PEACE OF MIND TO USE THE BILLIONS WASTED ON THE EXECUTIVE PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM AND ITS ANCILLARY, THE MYRIAD PRESIDENTIAL SECURITY DIVISION.

The House of Representatives will  comprise only be those who were legitimately elected by the Sri Lankan Voters. There should be no un-elected RATS coming through the Back Door into Parliament, to enjoy the PERKS that the elected Members enjoy. This includes the free or subsidized meal in Parliament.  TAKE AWAY THE DAMNING * MANAPE *  AND OTHER FICTITOUS TERMINOLOGY USED TO GET FRIENDS WITH DEFLATED TIRES INTO THE PRECINTS OF THE PARLIAMENT.  They have no mandate by the Sri Lankan Voters. They have absolutely no right to be a part of the Legislature.

A GOVERNOR GENERAL COULD BE APPOINTED FOR CEREMONIAL PURPOSES AS WAS BEFORE.

    SW,

I AGREE with everything you say EXCEPT the EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT part. We NEED an EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT.

Otherwise the CRAZY parliament, provincial councils and other nonsense will make HELL.

Unfortunately, 4 out of 6 EXECUTIVE PRESIDENTS we had had FAILED advanced level exam. Maru Sira also failed it after he joined the JVP and was arrested. A TAMIL by the name SHANGUGANATHAN fooled these SINGHALA school boys ONLY to take up arms against the nation!! CBK failed. Premathasan and Wijetunga had NOT seen that exam.

    This is same as parliament.

LORENZO !! IN THE FIRST LINE ITSELF, YOU ARE NEGATING THE FIRST PART OF THAT LINE, WITH THE SECOND PART, THAT WE NEED AN EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT. Nevertheless you are entitled to your private views.

EXECUTIVE PRESIDENCY IS A TERRIBLE DRAIN ON THE COUNTRY. OTHER THAN OFFICIAL PAYMENTS TO THE ENTIRE PRESIDENTIAL SECRETARIAT, THE GRAND LARCENY PRACTISED GOES INTO BILLIONS. THIS IS MONEY MEANT TO RAISE THE STANDARDS OF THE POOREST OF THE POOR.

I agree with Susantha Wijesinghe that the executive presidency must go. It is a drain on resources and the law give the executive president all the immunity and impunity he/she needs to do whatever and not do what is required. I too thought until mid 2014 that there is some merit in keeping the post as it on paper helps national interest. However, it is not so. Apart from President Premadasa in 1990, no other president has used executive powers against separatists in provincial councils. Even he failed to make use of them to remove Indian imposed 13A. All executive presidents used their powers to save criminals and give legitimacy to separatists to carry on regardless.

If there is no executive president or executive prime minister, then the person authorised to do these things can be held accountable to do what is needed. If he/she is not doing it, a supreme court writ can be used to force him/her do it.

The other advantage is the inability to manipulate elections. All presidents have violated the law to help their party at elections with state resources. This is another huge drain and distorts the election result. The election dates are also fixed by the president based on his/her fate, personal preference, party or astrology in mind. This is outrageous. Elections must be held when due and should not be manipulated by the president or anyone else.

Today the executive presidency is a threat to national security. Post-war, racist minorities voting as a block have the power to decide who become the all powerful executive president. Aftering winning from minority block vote, the president is obliged to appease minorities. This is a threat to national security as minority specific demands are always anti-national.

All presidents since 1994 promised to abolish executive presidency but failed to do it once enjoyed the limitless resources and powers of the position.
