Guwahati, 7 April: The city based Dispur Hospitals today organized a free diabetes screening and a Hepatitis-B vaccination camp to observe the World Health Day at Guwahati Press Club. Nearly hundred media persons participated in the program where over 50 scribes took the first dose of Hepatitis-B vaccine (in addition to 15 second dose recipients).

It may be mentioned that the diabetes has been growing at an alarming rate in India primarily because of unhealthy eating habit, stress and lack of physical activities. Of course, the diabetes is treatable and it can be kept under control to prevent more complications.

As the main goal of this year’s World Health Day campaign is to increase awareness about the rise in diabetes and its staggering burden & consequences on low & middle income countries, we have organized the program to support the mission to prevent diabetes in our country,” said Ujjal Saikia of Dispur Hospitals Private Limited.

Today’s health camp at press club, where over 65 media persons took different doses of Hepatitis-B vaccine, was conducted by staff nurses Anjali Bhuyan, Ghunusa Deuri and Jamina Lahong. Another camp to administer the second dose of Hepatitis-B vaccine (for over 50 first dose recipients) will be organized on 7 May 2016 to complete the process.
