Ranil’s unceasing Mahinda Phobia

Western puppet Ranil Wickremesinghe has an unceasing phobia about the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and he attempts to attrihute all follies and mismanagement of this government as results of follies made by the previous government.  He is displaying this Mahinnda phobia since he is determined to damage the image of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa by whatever means as he knows as long as Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa is in the political arena puppet Wickremasinghe cannot win an election against him, and even the Sinhala UNPers will prefer Mahinda Rajapaksa over him.

He has issued a statement saying that the main reason why the fish export ban was issued in the first instance by the European Union was the inability of the previous Government to honour international agreements and mechanisms Sri Lanka was party to. He has said in his statement that instead of abiding by these agreements, the Rajapakse Regime preferred to encourage illegal fishing activities, resulting in Sri Lanka becoming isolated and internationally condemned. He has also stated that EU’s fish ban on Sri Lanka, resulted in a colossal loss of valued foreign exchange to the country

We remember that the former Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development the political chameleon and the present Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne addressing several media conferences during the time of the previous government alleged that his predecessor (former Minister Felix Perera) failed to take action on the directives given by the European Union on honouring the international conventions relating to fishing  activities and hence the EU was in the verge of banning fish exports from Sri Lanka but he held several successful meetings with the EU top officials and averted such a ban.  He also made several official visits to Brussels purporting to meet EU officials in this connection and claimed with much confidence that the EU will not impose a fish export ban to Sri Lanka.  His claim was a blatant lie as the lies he has been telling the people of this country for the last several years.

His blatant lies included his claim that China is building two multiday fishing vessels for Sri Lanka and these vessels will enable our fishermen to handover their catch to these vessels and get their vessels to refuel in the mid sea without returning to the shore.  He also stated various other things relating to the fishing industry giving much hope to our fishing community.  But what we have come across ultimately relates to allegations that he has become a multi millionaire by misusing his Ministry activities and his family members have become owners of several modern vessels.

This political chameleon Minister even now is misusing the resources of his current Ministry for personal gain and glory.  He has antagonized the much reputed professional association the Government Medical Officers’ Association and it is said that he has a personal animosity with this Association because it averted an attempt made by this Minister to get his wife appointed as the chairperson of the GMOA.

Thousands of people make by-pass surgeries in this country since they have much confidence in our able doctors. Contrary to this fact this Minister had to go to the highly expensive Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore to get a by-pass surgery done for him and definitely it may have been done at State expenses.  In addition to that the eunuch President Sirisena also made a visit to Singapore to see him wasting our State resources.

The puppet Prime Minister says that Sri Lanka lost several millions of rupees due to the EU Fish export ban.  If he is really concerned about the loss of revenue to the country, instead of misleading the people by attributing the cause of loss to the previous government he should get rid of his Mahinda phobia and introduce a mechanism to make the Ministers responsible to pay for the follies they have done and continue to do and in this case Rajitha Senaratne to pay for the loss we have incurred by the EU fish export ban. This is what the puppet Ranil should do instead of wasting the time and energy of the so-called political outfit FCID to hunt on the Rajapaksas and other credible people and order to direct their operations against the rogues enjoying impunity by being members in the Cabinet and the government.   .

LORD BUDDHA HAD SAID, ** THAT NOTHING IS PERMANENT, AND ALL THINGS ARE TRANSIENT**

The Phobia will, and has to end sometime or other.

  2. Fran Diaz Says:

Ranil is permanent only as an Anglophile.

  3. Kumari Says:

Mahinda Phobia is not Ranil’s or Sirisena’s. It is the phobia of the leaders of the so called Free World. They always had phobias over leaders who love their respective countries and developed them. See what they did to Gadhafi. As our two are their’s and India’s obedient servants, they will utter anything as per the instructions received.

Even an eight year old will run the country better than Sirisena and Ranil. The country is run to the ground, while these two laughing stock don’t know whether they are coming or going.

  4. Ananda-USA Says:

    Susantha,

There is an ancient Greek version of the Lord Buddha’s
Statement on the Impermanence of All Things:

    Thapanda ri
    Thapanda hori
    Kivuden meni!

    Meaning:

    Everything flows
    Everything moves
    Nothing remains the same!

This Greek adage pre-dated the birth of the Lord Buddha.

Kumari, The UNP WANTED to destroy the country economically as a prelude to handing over the North and East to the U.K Tamil diaspora and the Tea Estates to the British who want to recolonize Sri Lanka. That is why Ranil put a known disloyal person in charge of Treasury, brought in Arjun Mahendran whose first act was a bond scam involving a massive insider trading exercise and then they are doing the same thing again while complaining that the economy is down because of MR. What a travesty of justice. See MR talk on Youtube.

The military is being taken over by the British advisor who could not fight the terrorists in Iraq and then committed War Crimes in Iraq. Now they are going to teach our military who destroyed the most ruthless terrorist group (as per US state dept) and liberated 300,000 Tamil civilians. The West will make white appear black when it suits them to destroy leaders or countries which are struggling to come up. This is the Neo-con agenda to ensure resources remain available for them.

Our people have gone to sleep and have forgotten the past. Here are a few more videos to remind those who are interested about Ranil W what he said earlier. People have forgotten how the current cabinet which was also the similar Catholic Govt during the time of Premadasa killed almost 88,000 young Sinhala Buddhists brutally in late 1980s. Where was UNHRC and all the UN human rights watch people and the special rappoteurs and Western self righteous ambassadors at that time. These JVP people were killed most horribly as explained by an eye witness Police investigator A.P. Karunaratna who worked under Ranjan Wijeratna.

Why are our leaders silent about Ranil W’s doings? Now they are trying to destroy President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was the one man who stood bravely against the the countries who opposed the LTTE army leader being destroyed. We have allowed a man associated with Batalanda and who the Batalanda Commission recommended should have his civic rights removed installed as the Executive Prime Minister. This is truly a massive travesty of justice. In the last one year this man has single handedly brought the country which was coming up so well under President Mahinda Rajapaksa to its knees.

All that is written by the Readers here points to disaster for Lanka and the region ?
A wild quest for material wealth for some may spell disaster ?

It ought to be good basic needs for all ?

    ——-

The Buddha spoke of CHANGE as inevitable.

It should be Change for the BETTER for every country, but never at the expense of LIFE itself !

    * Why did Christ say : ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is WITHIN YOU’.
    * The Buddha said : ‘Truth is WITHIN YOU’.
    * Islam means PEACE (WITHIN YOU).
    * The Four Great Yogas of HInduism takes the Devotee WITHIN TO FIND GOD. The two Great Epic Stories in Hinduism, the Ramayana &.the Mahabharata, points to the Godhead WITHIN.

Convince those who waver that this is so.

    —–

Ranils method of governance seems to be to go back to some type of neo-Colonial Dark Age ?

  8. Dham Says:

    Fran,
You keep saying this, but I don’t know in which Sutta Buddha said “truth is within you”. Please teach me. Don’t twist Buddha’s words just tell us what exactly he said in his words.
What is “the Truth” in Buddhism ? There is no metaphysical truth in Buddhism.
    Are you a Buddhist ?

  9. Fran Diaz Says:

    Dham,

I have written most of this stuff some years ago on L’web. But for sake of clarity will repeat some of it. Some of the parts have been added through suggestions by friends.

I am taking some extracts from the book by Rev Walpola Rahula “What the Buddha Taught” (hard cover copy, page 37) :

The Buddha referring to Nirvana said: “O bhikkus, there is the Unborn, the Ungrown, and Unconditioned. Were there not the Unborn the, Ungrown and the Unconditioned, there would be no escape for the born, grown and conditioned.——————– etc”. He goes on to say “Here the four elements of solidity, fluidity, heat and motion have no place; the notions of length and breadth, the subtle and the gross, the good and evil, name and form are altogether destroyed; neither this world or the other, nor coming or going or standing, neither death nor birth nor sense objects are to be found.”

Here the Buddha is obviously referring to another dimension that our normal senses do not perceive – WITHIN US (my addition)

Dr Rahula goes on to say : ” Because Nirvana is thus expressed in negative terms, there are many who have got the wrong notion that it is negative, and expresses self annihilation. Nirvana is definitely no annihilation of self, because there is no self to annihilate. If at all, it is the annihilation of the illusion, of the false idea of self”.

On page 38, Dr Rahula states : “We may get some idea of Nirvana as Absolute Truth from the Dhatuvibbanga Sutta (No.140) of the Majjihima Nikaya”.

Quoting further from this Sutta, Dr Rahula states (page 39) : ” … For, the Absolute Truth is Nibbana (paramam ariyasaccam) , which is Reality”. All these experiences are WITHIN US (my addition).

Dr Rahula also states (page 39 contd) : Elsewhere the Buddha unequivocally uses the word Truth in place of Nibbana – WITHIN US (my addition).

Nibbana (Heaven) is Union with God – WITHIN US.
Also, Heaven is where God resides – WITHIN US.
Therefore, Heaven/God/Nibbana/Reality/Truth/Absolute Truth, are all words referring the same other dimensional force/energy, found within each of us.

The experience of Nibbana/Absolute Truth etc are usually experiences during Meditation, and has to happen WITHIN US, not outside the Self.

Also, you may have already read Kalama Sutta. The Buddha in this Sutta said “Kalamas: Of course you are in doubt. When there are reasons for doubt, uncertainty is born. So in this case, Kalamas, don’t go by reports, by legends, by traditions, by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies, by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the thought, ‘This contemplative is our teacher.’ When you know for yourselves that, ‘These qualities are unskillful; these qualities are blameworthy; these qualities are criticized by the wise; these qualities, when adopted & carried out, lead to harm & to suffering’ — then you should abandon them”.

It is said that God is Omnipresent. Therefore, God/Truth/Reality is within us all, and all pervasive too. Many have had a direct experience of this Reality which is not through our senses or the mind, but as a direct experience.

You may also want to read the book given below with a review. http://www.amazon.com/Divine-Revelation-Buddhism-Peter-Masefield/dp/0415461642
According to that, what mattered was not the words of the Buddha but the sound of his voice.

    Nothing more to say here.

  10. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

THANKS ANANDA !! Iam learning. Yes, Greeks were first in many things.

  11. Dham Says:

    Susantha,
Please listen to this. Shocking revelation of STEALING people’s money.

  12. Dham Says:

    Fran,
So, the conclusion is Buddha never said ‘Truth is WITHIN YOU’.

You appears to be not a Buddhist but trying to say God=Nibbaana= Union with Brahma.

This is the basis for “Bahu Agamika ” society being promoted by enemies of Lanka.
I remember MR in his Vesak message said “Message of peace of Buddha”. To him Buddha=Jesus=Mohamed= any other person promoting peace. may be same to you too.

I don’t know about the God and Truth but I know Nibbana is defined as “cessation of suffering” which is accomplished by eradication of Thanha ( craving). Although it is called “3rd Noble Truth” in Buddhism it is not a metaphysical “TRUTH” which is meant when you say “TRUTH is within you”. “First Noble Truth” similarly not a metaphysical or absolute truth or something because it can be stopped by 3rd Noble Truth.
When you mix Buddhism with God concept and other nonsense, it harms the real aim of Buddhism.
Nibbana is not something within you but something to be actually realised by you. For example if you by a new car and you love it too much, wash regularly, keep it nice and one day if some one opened his door leaving a dent it hurts. You sell that car and by an old one, cheaper but with same comfort levels and clean but with dents, you don’t feel hurt. If you are someone enlightened you don’t get hurt even if it is brand new. “GOD” concept entirely different. If the car belonged to GOD and you and GOD are one you still feel hurt.

  13. Dham Says:

    Fran,
    You said,
“Nibbana (Heaven) is Union with God – WITHIN US.”

This is absolutely WRONG and opposite of Buddhism. It proves you are not Buddhist. Buddhist do not say such things.

  14. Fran Diaz Says:

    Dham,

If you want to suffer spiritually through not seeing the similarities of the Teachings of the Buddha with other religons, it is up to you.

The Core Teachings of ALL religons are the same. Throughout the ages, various leaders of religons have interpreted the same Life Laws in different ‘flavors’ and due to East & West different cultural aspects, SURVIVAL, and possibly politics and power struggles, ownership of wealth, etc., as now. The different Masters spoke according to the areas they lived in, the times and the cultures.

Now that we are well informed in this age, we want see similarities which brings all people together. This is imperative due to M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) methods of warfare now in place.

To look at only the differences is to use the old ‘divide & rule’, this time through religion.

It is up to us to stop the suffering, the differences in everything that truly matters, if we want a real and lasting peace, anywhere in the world.

Look at the similarities for Peace to reign. Human beings are worth saving.

For the second time, nothing more to say. If you want to argue further, do find someone else.

  15. Fran Diaz Says:

spelling error corrected : read as ‘religions’.

  16. Dham Says:

I am not going to find someone else to tell Fran Diaz is spreading New Bahu Agamika Religion by twisting Buddha’s words trying to assimilate Buddhism with his fictitious God? I will prove it here. There is joy in defending what I understood, not suffering. For you it is called spiritual suffering because you know you are lying or you have doubt

All other major religions preach about a supreme being – GOD ( core teaching).
All other religions (except Hinduism) teach people to go to Heaven or get condemned in hell forever, no escape. In Buddhism , those in the lowest hells too have some hope to comeback one day.
All other religions cause disharmony and chaos among people even though key teaching appears to be peaceful. Various wars happening in the world right now are because of religions.
All other religions are based on BLIND FAITH alone.
There is no Samsara in middle east religions. God creates, kills, judge and condemn in hell of welcomes to heaven.

Buddhism teaches to end suffering to beings who understood suffering and willing to end it.
No one is supreme in Buddhism. Even God will have to go to hell and suffer at the end of his long time in heaven. Buddhism promotes FAITH by understanding suffering, promotes peace, compassions by understanding suffering of others but does not end there, Buddha has explained how suffering arises (Thanha). Buddhism teaches how Kamma creation keeps beings in Samsara. No other religion teaches this.
Karma is rejected by Christianity and Islam. Karma is there in Hinduism as something belongs to God and therefore to others.
Buddhism is about “not harming self and ALL others” not about PEACE. PEACE as preached by the middle eastern religions is for humans only.

    Fran,
Don’t preach rubbish to people and suffer in hell worlds for a long long time. By doing so you are harming yourself and others. Keep rubbish to yourself.

If PEACE is the message is Buddha, what you say is true. Buddha is then a messenger of Nibbaana , the supreme being who created the world.

  17. Fran Diaz Says:

For Readers of Lankaweb who are interested in the topic, here is more information on the book “What the Buddha Taught” and also information about the author, Dr Walpola Rahula :

Here is an extract from Amazon on the subject :

This comprehensive, compact, lucid, and faithful account of the Buddha’s teachings persistently enjoys great popularity in colleges, universities, and theological schools both here and abroad. “An exposition of Buddhism conceived in a resolutely modern spirit.”—from the Foreword.

“For years,” says the Journal of the Buddhist Society, “the newcomer to Buddhism has lacked a simple and reliable introduction to the complexities of the subject. Dr. Rahula’s What the Buddha Taught fills the need as only could be done by one having a firm grasp of the vast material to be sifted. It is a model of what a book should be that is addressed first of all to ‘the educated and intelligent reader.’ Authoritative and clear, logical and sober, this study is as comprehensive as it is masterly.”

A classic introductory book to Buddhism, What the Buddha Taught, contains a selection of illustrative texts from the original Pali texts, including the Suttas and the Dhammapada (specially translated by the author), sixteen illustrations, and a bibliography, glossary, and index.

About the Author, Dr Walpola Rahula :

    Biography
He was born in 1907 at Walpola, a tiny village in southern Sri Lanka. At thirteen, he entered the Sangha. His education covered Sinhala, Pali,Sanskrit, Buddhism, history and philosophy. He studied at the Vidyalankara Pirivena and at the University of Ceylon, where he associated with E. F. C. Ludowvk, G.P Malalasekera, E. W. Adikaram and other luminaries. After his period at the Sorbonne, he became Vice-Chancellor of Vidyodaya University. He was noted not only for his erudition but also for his strong socialist views, as well as his belief that monks have a duty to play a role in guiding the political consciousness of the people. His book Bhikshuvakage Urumaya (Heritage of the Bhikkhu) was a strong voice in the Buddhist Nationalist movement that led to the 1956 electoral victory of Solomon Bandaranaike. He left Vidyodaya University in 1969, due to political differences with the government of the day. Thereafter, he returned to the West and worked in many academic institutions in Europe. He returned to Sri Lanka during his last days, and lived in the temple near the New Parliament in Kotte, until his death.[citation needed]

    Academic career
Rahula attended Ceylon university (now known as the University of Colombo). He obtained a B.A. Honours degree (London), and then earned a Doctorate of Philosophy, having written a thesis on the History of Buddhism in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Then he went on to study Indian Philosophy at Calcutta University and later studied Mahayana at the Sorbonne. It was during his time at the Sorbonne in the late 1950s that he produced What the Buddha Taught, a highly regarded[who?] introductory text on Buddhism, for which he is best known.[citation needed]

Rahula is the first Buddhist monk to become a professor in a Western University. When he became Professor of History and Literature of Religions there were no Theravada Temples in the United States. He later became a Professor Emeritus at the same University. Rahula also held positions at several other American Universities. He was a visiting lecturer at Swarthmore Collegeand Regents Lecturer at UCLA. He became Vice-Chancellor of Vidyoda University (now Sri Jayawardhanapura University) in 1964. He was later instrumental in encouraging the formation of the first Theravada temple in the United States, the Washington Vihara.

    Titles
Rahula was awarded several titles during his lifetime. The highest honorary title, Tripitakavagisvaracarya (Supreme Master of Buddhist Scriptures), was given him by Sri Kalyapi Samagri Sangha-sabha (the Chapter of the Sangha in Sri Lanka) in 1965, with the qualification Sri (Gracious), a title held by only two or three scholars in Sri Lanka. He was also awarded the title “Aggamaha Panditha” from Burma.

    Publications
Rahula wrote extensively about Theravada Buddhism. Apart from his world-renowned book What the Buddha Taught, he published an enormous number of papers on Buddhism. Notable books written by him include, History of Buddhism in Ceylon, Heritage of the Bhikkhu, Zen and the Taming of the Bull and Le Compendium de la Super Doctrine (French).

  18. Dham Says:

Buddha is No Dr. Had no PhD.
He did not go to university. No BA,
No MA. Give me Buddha’s words in Pali.

When asked to at his Parinibbaana to appoint a teacher, Buddha empathically said NO. He did not appoint Dr. Walpola Rahula. He said when I am gone , Dhamma is the teacher.
Give me the Dhamma, not names and Titles.

    82,000 Teachings from the Buddha
    I have received;
    2,000 more from his disciples;
Now, 84,000 are familiar to me.

Who nothing has heard and nothing understood,
    He ages only oxen-like:
His stomach only grows and grows,
    But his insight deepens not.

Who has much heard and learned,
But does despise him who is poor in learning,
Is like one blind who holds a lamp.
So must I think of such a one.

Thou follow him who has heard much,
Then what is heard shall not decline.
    This is the tap-root of the holy life;
    Hence a Dhamma-guardian thou should’st be!

Knowing what comes first and last,
    Knowing well the meaning, too,
Skilful in grammar and in other items,
    The well-grasped meaning he examines.

    Keen in his patient application,
He strives to weigh the meaning well.
At the right time he makes his effort,
    And inwardly collects his mind.

    — the Venerable Ananda,
    in Thag 17.3 (vv. 1024-29)

  19. Dham Says:

The section Ven. Rahula referring to in MN 140 is ( Dhatuvibhanga Sutta) ,

“His realisation, being founded on truth, does not fluctuate, for whatever is deceptive is false; Unbinding — the undeceptive — is true. Thus a monk so endowed is endowed with the highest determination for truth, for this — Unbinding, the undeceptive — is the highest noble truth

Of course this is a translation. Various words are translated differently by different people.

    අකුප්පා – does not fluctuate
    අමෝස ධම්මං නිබ්බානං – True Dhamma is Nibbaana
    පරමං අරිය සච්චං – (translated as ) Ultimate Truth (by some people)

Neither Buddha Nor Radula Thero said

Nibbana (Heaven) is Union with God – WITHIN US.

, only a foolish person calling himself Fran Diaz who has never studied Buddhism , extracting pieces from Rahula Theor’s book made up this මෝස ධම්මං ( false Dhamma) and equate Buddhism with other මෝස ධම්මං such as Christianity, Hinduism and Islam.

  20. Fran Diaz Says:

To the Reades of Lankaweb :

I really enjoyed the sense of clarity in Rev Dr Walpola Rahula’s book.

We hope that Readers of the Lankaweb get a chance to read the book “Teachings of the Buddha”, and rejoice in its direct simplicity and truthfulness.
