He said that though many have expressed dismay over Britain’s departure from the EU, many Commonwealth nations including Sri Lanka have already shown keen interest in negotiating trade agreements with Britain and this new situation undoubtedly opens up new opportunities for the larger body of nations outside the EU.
In a message congratulating Theresa May on her appointment as Prime Minister of Great Britain, Rajapaksa said she has been entrusted with the onerous task of steering your country through the process of leaving the European Union and charting a new course in the world.”
Given her central role in the Commonwealth, Great Britain has a major role to play in taking the lead to ensure the sovereignty, stability, territorial integrity and prosperity of Commonwealth nations,” he said.

Since UK leaving the EU, the whole EU quota is different since SL can sell to UK with out EU quota system. This open up so many opportunities for SL and I wonder where the negatives are..

Thank you Mr President. That is a statement from a Statesman.
Our Rookadaya must be sad that there is no David to open the car door when Rookadaya visits London.
I was very pleased with how the transfer of power took place in Britain. None bad mouthed the previous leader. In Sri Lanka even after eighteen months all what the Yahapalaya is doing is Rajapakse bashing and jailing. Shame on you Yahapalanaya. You Yahapalanaya slaves, learn a lesson from your white masters.

Ex-president Mahinda Rajapakse is a patriot and a Statesman and a congratulatory message from him to the new British PM is of more value than any such message from the current bunch of rulers who are dismantling Sri Lanka’s internal security, economy and heritage, as Theresa May also seems to be a no nonsense British patriot.
