Local Trump has spoken; again. Yet another hilariously idiotic statement was made by the Prime Minister recently when he compared the advent of Buddhism to signing ETCA agreement. He argued that both are from India and we should not favour one and oppose the other. Obviously, his understanding of history and economics is flawed.
If ETCA is about a few Buddhist monks and an Indian princess making their way to Sri Lanka no one has a problem with it. However, ETCA is not about that. It is about economically ruining Sri Lanka by flooding the island with unemployed Indians and dumping Indian goods in the Lankan market destroying local producers.
Even before the arrival of Buddhism in the island (circa 265BC), locals had a favourable opinion about Buddha. The Enlightened One visited the island nation many times. The last Buddha visited Sri Lanka on three occasions (circa 580BC). Previous Buddhas also visited the island nation. They came to the island to preach Dharma and settle disputes, not to rob or burn down the island nation as Indians do. Having created a favourable impression among locals, Buddhism was immediately taken up by the people when it officially arrived.
Unlike India today, no coercion was used by the then Indian Emperor to spread Buddhism. India uses extortion and pressure tactics to impose ETCA as it imposed the Indo-Lanka Peace Accord and 13A in 1987. India has long lost the Asoka era and Buddhism. Today India is a Hindu majority country with only minute presence of Buddhism. Comparing 265BC landmass now called India and modern India is ridiculous.

ETCA is indeed about flooding Sri Lsnka with Indian workers and dumping Indian goods in Sri Lanka to displace and undermine Sri Lankan producers.
But it is FAR MORE THAN THAT, it is about establishing a dominant hold by Indis on the Sri Lankan economy that will constrain Sri Lanka’s independence and freedom of action in the future.
That is a very dangerous power to give to a country that has Ben the principal enemy of Sri Lanka since independence, seEdington and fostering a 30-years of terrorism, invading our sovereign country with military troops, and posing on a Constitutional Amendment that bedevil us to this day.
What kind of CONGENITAL IDIOTS would further EMPOWER SUCH AN ENEMY and given them a stranglehold grip on our country?
None of this makes ANY SENSE, and we can only call it TREACHERY of the highest order!
And thus follows fast on the heels of the passage of the Bill to create an Office of Missing Persons by the parliament without sufficient discussion and debate in Parliament! TREASON of the highest order@
The OMP Bill should be challenged for unconstitutionality in Supreme Court by the JO, WITHOUT DELAY!

Ananda, you beat me to it. ETCA is much more than a trade and dumping agreement. In fact it is more than creating an ordinary dominant hold on Sri Lanka. It is about fully integrating Sri Lanka into Hindustan by dismantling Buddhism and everything else that India sees as incompatible with modern India.
Buddhism is seen as a natural soft power connection to China although the substance of Buddhism vastly differ. Only 0.8% of Indians or 7.9 million are Buddhists. India has essentially wiped out Buddhism and that is what it is keen to do in Sri Lanka so that Sri Lanka will be a total integral part of India. Middle Path is not acceptable to Indian hegemony and merely remaining an ally is also not acceptable. India wants total absorption into its Union leaving no room for any deviation even in future. ETCA is about this.
The JO will not challenge OMP bill as it is already law. JO didn’t even ask for a debate which would have given enough time to challenge it in Supreme Court. Some JO MPs, instead of challenging in the Supreme Court, wrote a letter to Sirisena asking him to seek Supreme Court sanction! As always, the JO leader was not in parliament. Whenever a crucial bill or debate takes place, he avoids parliament.
JO would have avoided the wrath of India and Tamils by not debating, voting or challenging against it. Media statements and black bands are just for fools. They have no legal or historical validity.
JO is not interested in saving Sri Lanka. It is only interested in shouting murder after it is committed to win votes. Its leadership must be changed to make it patriotic.

Both Ranil W and Trump suffer the same impediment….they both have a weird sense of humor that few can relate to. Their jokes do not evoke laughter from normal people. Trump struggles to explain his jokes. Ranil does not even try and in fact does not need to, as they of such murky caliber.
Ranil’s foolish attempt to disparage Buddhism by dragging it to the level of the ETCA, is on a par with his inane call to celebrate the Portuguese invasion of Sri Lanka!.
One thing seems clear — Mediocrity remains the order of the day.

Equating a spiritual teaching introduced to one country from another with controversial issues involved in a trade & economic agreement between two governments exposes Ranil’s stupidity.
Furthermore at the time of Arahat Mahinda’s arrival in Sri Lanka there was no ‘India’ as we know it today. There was only a geographical entity (Indian subcontinent) which had several kingdoms. Emperor Dharmasoka’s kingdom included what is known as Pakistan today.
The emperor did not use Arahat Mahinda and Buddha Dhamma as Trojan Horses, like way the West used Christianity in the days of colonial conquests.

I lived through those years of terror which were unleashed by the UNP on the innocent Sinhala Buddhist youth whose only crime was that they were seeking employment and the removal of the illegal 13A which was forced on Ranil’s uncle JR Jayawardene’s whose Govt like the current Govt calling themselves “Yahapalanaya” called themselves “Dharmishta”. John Ameratunga was the Minister for Law and Order was a large part of these activities. As has been pointed out by Gandara John in his article in Lankaweb, Ranil always wanted a “Big boy” behind him. So he got himself Gonawela Sunil who was called Ranil’s husband by those who knew about the relationship. I worked in the vicinity of Batalanda and heard about the goings on there through the people who worked at Sapugaskande. Some of the drivers at Sapugaskande whose vehicles were commandeered by the army told stories of how the army went into villages and rounded up any youth who were hanging around since they were unemployed and asked them to dig pits and lined them up before the pits and shot them. That is how the Minister for Youth Affairs Ranil W solved the unemployment problem of the country. He has been protected by the West for their own purposes and now the “Dittha Dhamma Vedaniya Kamma Vipaka” is hitting the West. Ranil W as soon as David Cameron resigned immediately appointed Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as a Minister so that he has a big boy to protect him. Ranil is a psychologically warped human being and when he is dying one day as we all do I do not know how he will come to terms with all the pain and death he caused so many people.

treacherous assaults on them.
Most Sinhalese wonder why when he himself a Sinhalese? Second part of his double life, token Buddhist, is obvious to lot of people now. Since the catholic-run UNPatritoic party dances
to the tune of the christian west, they have no alternative. Murder Sinhalese, destroy Buddhism. So the

With a bit of support from some Sinhala modayas they are in a win win situation. Unlucky Mother Lanka. This

There is absolutely no doubt about imperialistic US plans to build a US army, navy and air force base at Trincomalee. Please note that once the US builds their US army, navy and air force base at Trincomalee, they are not going to stop there. They will build other bases within the island. For example, Hambantota harbour could also end up as a US navy base and the Mattala airport a US air force base. Iranawila will again recommence their CIA operations and Palaly in the North in Jaffna will also be converted into a US air force base.
This is the main reason that the US has, from the every beginning, supported the LTTE terrorists, who are their proxy force, wage a war against Sri Lanka to set up a bogus Eelam. The US knows that the only people who are standing against them are the Sinhala people who due to they being majority Buddhist and wanting to preserve Buddhism, being the indigenous people of the island with over 2500 years of history behind them and with our tribal ancestors having over 30,000 years of history within the island and due to they being very socialist in nature and supportive of socialist ideals will never, ever let the US set up any bases in the island.
Therefore the imperialistic US, UK ,EU, Canada, Sweden, Norway and India supported the LTTE terrorists and the TNA set up their Eelam within the island for sure so that they can then set up US army, navy, air force bases within the island.
Sri Lanka lies along the world’s busiest sea route or the maritime silk road. South of Sri Lanka is a the vast Indian ocean. Sri Lanka is located at a most strategic location with the Middle East, Africa and Europe to the North West, with India to the North and with South East Asia and East Asia to the North East of Sri Lanka.
At present the US uses its Diego Garcia base extensively to subdue, bomb, decimate and dominate the rest of the world. However, due to sea level rises, low lying Diego Garcia may even be taken over by the sea. What better place therefore to build a US base than Sri Lanka? This is the reason that the US supports Eelam since sepoy, slavish LTTE, TNA will do whatever the US tells them to do. The only people standing in the way of the US building bases in Sri Lanka are the Sinhala people and they have been slapped with bogus US resolutions at the UNHRC with a view to partitioning the island and bringing on an Eelam with these constitutional changes to turn Sri Lanka into federal states or to even implement the13th amendment to the full which should never ever be implemented and no more powers should be given to the provincial councils, especially no land, police or fiscal powers should be given to the provincial councils under any circumstances. Also the concurrent list subjects should be given over to the national list.
About Trincomalee Harbour, please visit this absolutely stunningly and vast harbour and then anyone can see its potential. Already, the road from Trincomalee has been built and the roads and bridges around Trincomalee harbour has been built. There are over 99 oil tanks near the harbour. There is the existing Sri Lankan air force, army and navy bases. Trincomalee town has been refurbished. Trincomalee harbour is the world’s second largest natural harbour. It has a submarine canyon along its sea floor which is a very deep canyon along the sea floor which can accommodate submarines which then cannot be detected by radar. The harbour itself can accommodate a large fleet of ships. There is also a railwayline all the way from Colombo to Trincomalee. All the infrastructure development was completed by the previous government.
Therefore, there is no doubt that the US would want to build a US army, navy, airbase at Trincomalee. For that they only need an Eelam or federal state and this treacherous Ranil, Sirisena, CBK and Mangala will make sure that happens since they have accepted the bogus US resolution at the UNHRC and placed our armed forces in deep trouble when our armed forces are totally not guilty but the LTTE war criminals are now suddenly totally innocent of all the war crimes that the LTTE terrorists committed for over three decades. Also all Sri Lankans should totally oppose implementing the 13th amendment to the full or any more powers being given to the provincial councils than they have at present. Especially no land, police or fiscal powers should be given to the provincial councils under any circumstances. Also the concurrent list subjects should be given over to the national list.

When looking at Sri Lanka’s history, it is extremely obvious that from 600BC to around 1400AD there were three kingdoms, all Sinhala Buddhist, Ruhuna, Pihiti or Rajarata and Maya or Malayarata. Rajarata encompassed today’s North Central, North Western, Northern and even the Central Province. Ruhunu rata encompassed today’s Uva, Eastern and Southern Provinces. The Kandyan Kingdom from 1400AD encompassed most of the island inclusive of today’s Northern and the Eastern Provinces except for the Jaffna Peninsula. Even the Jaffna Peninsula was invaded and occupied by force by Aryachakravarthi (Pandyan) and actually did belong to Rajarata earlier and later the Kandyan Kingdom.
Today’s provincial boundaries were drawn up by the British colonialists as per their divide and rule policy and the Sinhala people were not consulted when drawing up these provincial boundaries. In the meantime, most Sri Lankan Tamils of today were actually brought over during Dutch and British times to the Jaffna Peninsula and elsewhere to work on tobacco and indigo plantations which were planted extensively in all the colonies since they were much sought after and made a lot of money for the colonialists. Therefore they are recent arrivals and cannot claim homelands or separate states whatsoever.
The usual practice when a colonial power hands over their former colonies is to hand it over to its original owners. Therefore the British colonialists should hand over the Kandyan Kingdom to the Kandyan Sinhalese from whom they took it by force. Since the Kandyan Kingdom encompassed the North and the East, these provinces too should be handed over to the Kandyan Sinhalese who are its rightful owners. Even the Jaffna Peninsula should be handed over to the Kandyan Sinhalese since it was part of Rajarata and was forcefully occupied by Aryachakravarthi (Pandyan).
Since this has now been done already, the TNA and other separatist terrorists or the US, UK EU, Canada, Norway, Sweden and India cannot demand that present day Northern or even the Eastern provinces be provided any more powers or be made into federal states since this is totally going against the history and archaeology of the island and totally going against the rights of the Sinhala people who also have fundamental rights to claim the entire island inclusive of the North and the East as their homeland first and foremost. Therefore, the TNA , the separatist terrorists, the US, UK, Norway, Sweden, Canada and India has to respect the history and archaeology of the island and accept that the present day provincial councils are more than sufficient to run the affairs of the provinces. Sri Lanka must be a unitary state and no more powers should be provided to the provincial councils. In fact, when talking about the 13th amendment, the concurrent list subjects must be included in the national list. The provision where two provinces can merge should be deleted. The bogus claim of the North and the East being the homeland of the Tamil speaking people should be deleted. The entire island should be declared the homeland of all its peoples.
Sinhala people should be resettled in the North in quite a large number if there is to be peace and harmony within the island since Sinhala people have every historical right to live in the North as well as the East. It is only due to ethnic cleansing of the North of Sinhala people by the LTTE and the other separatists that Sinhala people are not at present living in the North. Many thousands of landless elsewhere in the island especially Sinhala people should be provided land in the North since most of the vacant land in the country is in the North and in the East since both these provinces encompass over 28% of the land area of the island. Then only will there be peace since when people mix, there is more harmony. This is the only way towards peace and development in the island.

India has over 400 million poor people and over 40 million people in India are unemployed. If this ETCA is signed and the Hanuman bridge is built all these desperate people in India will come in droves to Sri Lanka since the socio-economic situation of Sri Lanka is a million times better than the socio economic situation of India. I would urge the uncaring and cruel Indian government to provide basic housing, clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education, food and clothing to these desperately poor 400 million Indians rather than spending US 5.2 billion dollars in building a Hanuman bridge to Sri Lanka. If Sri Lanka signs this ETCA with India it will be Sri Lanka’s end. Sri Lanka should not sign any such trade deals where people can come here to work freely, unless the country we are signing the ETCA with has a similar or a better socio-economic situation than Sri Lanka. I would urge the uncaring, corrupt and cruel India Government to immediately stop building space stations and nuclear weapons and use that money to provide basic housing, clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education, food and clothing to the 400 million desperately poor people of India which is a government’s basic responsibility. Sri Lanka should stop immediately the signing of ETCA with India and urge the Indian Government to carry out the above task rather than serving the rich people of India only which the uncaring and cruel Indian Government seems to be doing.
