We have to stop Yahapalanaya Government writing a New Constitution to Sri Lanka to please the “four evils”.

The  so called Yahapalanaya government which had been deceiving the people of this country ever since Maithripala Sirisena was elected President of Sri Lanka on the 8th January,2015, has no right what so ever to present a note, a paper or  a draft to the Parliament as a preliminary to the writing of  a new Constitution for Sri Lanka.

Today the people of Sri Lanka are divided as they had never been before. The Tamil terrorists have been eliminated but they have reappeared in another form-Wigneswaran, TNA and the Tamil Diaspora, and the Western Governments assisting them”-the four evils , to be an important supportive group of the Sirisena Ranil- Yahapalanaya Government to dissolve the Sri Lankan identity.

This Sirisena Ranil government will do any thing , make any sacrifice to retain the support of the four evils”. The JVP  has become a party to the Yahapalanaya Government’s shameless plan  to change Sri Lanka behind scene into a Federal State according to the desire of the four  evils”.

Hence to allow the Sirisena Ranil government under these circumstances to write a new Constitution is to make Sri Lanka  a sacrificial lamb” of this Yahapalanaya Government on the altar of reconciliation to satisfy the Tamils of the TNA, the ultra Tamil Wigneswaran ,  the Tamil diaspora and their supporters the West-the four evils”

Therefore under no circumstance should the patriots of this great country of the Sinhala Buddhists of Sri Lanka allow this  pseudo Yahapalanaya Government of Sirisena –Ranil to write a new Constitution for Sri Lanka. Kiriella a UNP Minister of this government says that they would give 13 plus and abolish the executive Presidency.

They are manipulating to take away the executive powers from the President to transfer them to the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe is a stooge of the West and the West wants him to usurp the powers of the President so that they can do what they want with Sri Lanka. In order to keep the President quiet and believe that the West is friendly towards him, the Western Governments even go to the extent of  proposing Maithripala Sirisena for the Nobel Peace Prize.

What has Maithripala Sirisena given to Sri Lanka and to  its people, and to the world  that makes him deserve the Noble Peace Prize ?

Does  not this suggestion of the west shows their utter hypocrisy to fool the leaders of developing countries to make them subordinate to their pseudo-generosity ?  Or is it for having made things easy for the West led by  USA, by sponsoring their resolution at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, with the support of the UN Human Rights Commissioner condemning the  Sri Lanka Armed Forces that eliminated terrorism for war crimes and establish hybrid courts,  to give back to the Tamils what they  failed to obtain through terrorism ?

Maithripala Sirisena as President of a most unpatriotic government since Independence calling itself Yahapalanaya,  does need a Noble Peace Prize as no government any where in the world has supported  the West led by USA to make a devastating  resolution against its own country, and its own Armed Forces, condemning the country’s legal system and suggesting setting up hybrid courts to try its own  Armed Forces for war crimes.

These UNP yes men to Ranil Wickramasinghe- their leader, even two years after they have taken over the government of Sri Lanka from its visionary leader Mahinda Rajapakse, still use the name of the  President Mahinda Rajapakse to cover up their own sins, and make people believe that they are following  what Mahinda Rajapakse failed to do.

Minister Kiriella says that the new Constitution may grant 13plus as proposed by Mahinda Rajapakse. They have only the name of President Mahinda Rajapakse to save their skins, but they know that  they  can never get any where near President Mahinda Rajapakse who had the  ability to change a Sri Lanka that was suffering for thirty years under terrorism to  a peaceful secure country with the communities united as Sri Lankans.

The uniqueness of this Yahapalanaya Government is that it has openly allowed corruption and thefts in the Central Bank itself and in the construction of the Central Highway, and though number of its Ministers though accused for bribery, corruption and theft have not been summoned by courts and punishments meted out though the President Mahinda Rajapakse, his kith and kin , Ministers of his Government, and all connected to him continue to be summoned by the  courts and remanded at their pleasure.

The Yahapalanaya Government  swears that the new Constitution has not been written as yet but only the proposals by the five Committees have been presented to the parliament. But the proposals do not give any assurance that they will finally be able to write an acceptable non-federal Constitution.

This government does every thing in stealth hiding facts not only from the people but also from the President Maithripala Sirisena blissfully ignorant of what is going on behind his back.

Even the Supreme Court of the Land is bluffed, changing its verdicts through Parliamentary Bills, and persuading even the JVP to vote with the government to provide a two third majority.

There is no reason why this Sirisena Ranil Yahapalana government should at all write a new Constitution when the 1978 Constitution is an acceptable document which had served its purpose during the most critical period of the recent history of Sri Lanka. Any required Constitutional changes could  easily be made by Constitutional amendments.

It has become evident that if this Yayapalanaya traitors  would get down to write a new Constitution we will not only loose the unitary status of Sri Lanka but it may also loose its name from Sri Lanka to OrumiththaNaadu”.

Sinhala Language has  already lost its significant place under Yahapalanaya Regime. These writers of a new Constitution have failed to find an appropriate word in Sinhala to mean united” hence they have used this Tamil word Orumiththa Nadu” in the Sinhala text of the Constitution, as well as in the English text to the exclusion of the English word Unitary.

There may have  been a reason why the President Mahinda Rajapakse did not remove the 13Amendment. However it has to be removed from the Constitution and retain the executive powers of the President intact. We are still not completely  out of terrorism which may raise its ugly head sooner or later if we let the  Yahapalanaya continue to rule Sri Lanka.

The Present Yahapalanaya government does not take any thing seriously. As they have mismanaged the economy of Sri Lanka they without accepting their disastrous bungling since their taking over the Government of Sri Lanka on the 8th January,2015, act like a bull in a glass shop” taking haphazard decisions  to  patch up” their wrong doings.

As the Sirisena –Ranil government is now in very critical financial straights, they have begun selling Sri Lanka’s most valued treasures” such as the unique natural harbour at Trincomalee, 15 thousand acres of prime land  in the South , Mattala Airport , Lankan Air Lines,  and part of the Colombo harbour etc.

The UNP Ministers and now some of the SLFP seniors like Mahinda Samarasinghe, Sarath Amunugama  are bragging that they have done what President Mahinda Rajapakse failed to do, which was to bring Sri Lanka into the fold of the West. But what have they received from their new found friends of the West. Their Western friends  have still not taken up even a single major development project. But they are nevertheless profiting from Sri Lanka’s dive into disaster. It was the same that the West did with the misfortunes of Greece. It is Germany and France that gained from the misfortunes of Greece.

Ranil Wickramasinghe with his Mount Pelerin connection hoped that America would have come to his aid, and even began by insulting China to give the West the signal that he was on their side against China.

But America and the West treated him  just like they treated his uncle J.R.Jayawardana-nicknamed Yankee Dikee, who expected  America and the West –to be his safety net against Indian brutality.

USA and the West will pay glowing tributes to Yahapalanaya for regaining democratic Sri Lanka, and reconciliation with the minorities and taking the Armed Forces before a hybrid court to be tried for war crimes which they believe Sri Lanka Armed Forces  committed in eliminating terrorists. That is all that the Yahapalanaya government will get from the Western friends.

CFA which enabled the terrorists to kill thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians was entered into with the terrorist leader Prabhakaran by PM Ranil Wickramasinghe with the aid of the Norvegian mediator Eric Solheim.  Ranil Wickramasinghe  neither consulted the then President Chandrika Kumaratunga nor the Parliament before he entered into that disastrous CFA.

How can then the people of Sri Lanka trust Ranil Wickramasinghe as the Prime Minister to write a new Constitution which would not finally be in effect  a Federal Constitution ?

What guarantee do the people have that Ranil Wickramasinghe will not be a traitor once again as he did with the CFA ?

The Yahapalanaya Government has no sense of values. They want to make Sri Lanka a Singapore. They want to sacrifice  Buddhism and Sinhala culture for an imagined reconciliation with the Tamils and the Muslims. They of the Yahapalanaya Government ,do not understand that there could never be a real reconciliation with the Tamils unless they give up  their call for  a separate territory for the Tamils and agree to live with all Communities.

Though the Yahapalanaya Government asserts that in the new Constitution nothing would be changed viz à viz the primary place given to Buddhism as in the previous Constitutions,  when in the new draft of the Constitution it is said that Buddhism will be given its rightful place and adds that the other religions will also have an equal place.

The President may be able to fool the Mahanayake Theros with a promise of special place to Buddhism and  the protection it deserves, but the people cannot be fooled by the reality of what is being done behind their backs.

The reconciliation with the Tamils is a farce since the defeat of terrorists. It is not the Sinhala that should move towards Tamils,  but it is the Tamils who should  come to the Sinhala to assure their sincerity to reconcile with the Communities. As it is the Yahapalanaya exercise  of reconciliation is a complete handover of North and East to Tamils with even the right to decide how they are to govern themselves without the interference of the Central Government.

There is no necessity to write a new Constitution to Sri Lanka. The Present  Constitution of Sri Lanka should  continue retaining all  the elements of the first Constitution prepared by the British when they granted Independence to Sri Lanka. Any Country’s Constitution is written by the Majority Community safeguarding its religious and cultural identity .

It is more so with regard to Sri Lanka with its unique 2600 year old Buddhist tradition and Buddhist Culture  which is the identity itself  of Sri Lanka.

In no country has the minorities of the Country consulted in the writing of  a Constitution. But the Majority Community allows the minorities the right to religious worship and maintain their cultural identities,  allowing them to enjoy all the rights and priviledges of the  majority community, without discrimination.

It is for the minorities to accept the Constitution as theirs, as they are accepted as the people of this country.

The Constitution protects the territoriality of Sri Lanka, therefore the Muslims should not be allowed to clear forests and open unauthorised Muslim settlements where ever they want. And the Tamils should not be allowed to  attack  Buddhist Temples  or destroy Buddhist Statues anywhere in the Island, nor allow them to chase away the Sinhala from occupying their lands and property any where in the Island be in the North, East, South or the West.

Here he is talking about weakening SLFP, whilest his brother talking about devolution and releasing land to Tamils in Jaffna on behalf of SLPP.
We are worried about weakening position of Sinhalese and Buddhsit due to Jadapalanaya and gradualy giving the country to minorities to ruin.

Sri Lanka ranks 84th in Global Hunger Index as child malnutrition increases despite best efforts
Fri, Oct 13, 2017, 11:55 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 13, Colombo: Despite efforts to increase the nutritional level of Sri Lanka’s children, the child malnutrition has increased and more than one-fifth of Sri Lankan children under five weigh too little for their height according to a report of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

According to the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2017 released on Thursday by the Washington-based IFPRI Sri Lanka ranks 84th among 119 countries with an overall score of 25.5.

The 2017 GHI examines levels of hunger in 119 developing countries and countries in transition and scores them based on four indicators – the prevalence of undernourishment, child stunting (low height-for-age), child wasting (low weight-for-height), and child mortality.

Among other South Asian countries India ranked 100, Pakistan 106, Nepal 72, Bangladesh 88, and Afghanistan 107.

In the case of Sri Lanka, examination of its GHI indicator values reveals that while the prevalence of undernourishment, child stunting, and child mortality have declined moderately, child wasting has gone up.

Only three other countries in this year’s GHI – Djibouti, India and South Sudan – have data or estimates showing child wasting above 20 percent in the latest period (2012-2016).

Prevalence of wasting in Sri Lankan children under five years increased to 21.4 percent in the five-year period from 2012-2016. In the previous five-year period from 2006 – 2010 only 13.3 percent of children were wasted.

Wasting, or low weight for height, is usually the result of acute significant food shortage and/or disease according to the UNICEF.

Sri Lanka’s Proportion of undernourished in the population declined to 22.1 percent in 2014-2016 period from 27.1 percent in the 2007-2009 period and prevalence of stunting in children under five years declined to 14.7 percent in 2012-2016 from 18.3 percent in 2008-2010. Under-five child mortality rate dropped 1.0 percent from 1.2 percent.

According to UNICEF, the causes of child undernutrition in Sri Lanka, a country that suffers no significant food shortages and provides extensive, free maternal and child health services, are not well understood. But studies reveal multiple micronutrient deficiencies among children, with causes that include a combination of inadequate intake, knowledge and cultural factors that influence the utilization of health services and available food as well as diseases that prevent proper nutrient absorption are reasons.

According to health authorities despite good health indicators at national level, which stand out in comparison to Sri Lanka’s South Asian neighbors maternal and child undernourishment continues to be a major challenge in the country.

  6. Vaisrawana Says:

Thank you, Charles, for this well written piece. I agree with you on almost all your points.

I also gree with Susantha’s comment. (It looks like a slip of the pen on Charles’ part.) It is not “United”; it is “unitary”. Sri Lanka should remain a unitary state. However, the illegal, immoral 13A forced on us unilaterally by India has compromised our country’s unitary status through the inclusion of strong federal features. The institution of the executive presidency and the concurrent list are the only existing safeguards against the North and East spinning away from the unitary centre. The persistent non-grant of land and police powers to the provinces by successive governments has so far neutralized the inherent centrifugal potential of 13A.

Having said this though, we have to be alive to the Tamil separatists backed foreign NGO constitution makers’ contemptuous attitude towards the majority Sinhalese Buddhists, which is behind this attempted constitutional genocide of the Sinhalese. Sumanthiran has publicly said that the Sinhalese are satisfied with labels and do not worry about the substance. (This is out and out racism on his part.) Hence the constitution makers propose to use the Sinhala word ‘akeeya’ in the Sinhala and English versions, but the Tamil ‘orumiththa’ in the Tamil version; the English word ‘unitary’ which is normally translated into Sinhala as ‘akeeya’ is proposed to be omitted as inappropriate. The word ‘orumiththa’ in Tamil is assumed to be equivalent to the Sinhala ‘akeeya’; but ‘orumiththa’ means ‘united’ in English or ‘eksath’ in Sinhala. At the same time, isn’t the United States of America also called ‘aikeeya amerikka’ in Tamil? Which word in the new constitution (akeeya or orumittha) will be good in law? It seems that the use of such vague terminology is intended to create confusion when issues that will definitely arise are dealt with in the proposed constitutional court, whose composition, apparently, is going to be weighted against the majority community.

Charles deserves our appreciation for his righteous condemnation of treacherous yahapalanaya. There is nothing in his write-up that I find open to disagreement.

Yes, Ranil is a stooge of the West, a craven stooge at that, I should say. And we might add “Maithripala” is a stooge of Ranil”.

Charles, you correctly say, “Sirisena is blissfully ignorant of what is going on behind his back”. We could change the sentence a bit and say, “Sirisena is willfully ignorant of what is going on under his very nose”, for after all he is the executive head of state, and it may be assumed that whatever is done by the government he has appointed must have his approval. Of course, he is doing a Wessantara with is executive powers, which his pm is arrogating to himself to his heart’s content.

It is also likely that this talk about Sirisena being nominated for the Nobel Peace prize is serious. Barak Obama, just a short time into his presidency, was awarded the same prize towards the end of 2009. He was given the prize before he had actually done anything about establishing world peace, nuclear non-proliferation, non-interference in other countries, etc after the problematic George Bush Jr years in his country; he was rewarded with the highly politicized prize exclusively for his declared good intentions. A critic, a journalist from the Philippines, described the prize awarded to Obama as ‘premature adulation’, a phrase suggestive of ‘premature ejaculation’ (resulting in no pleasure for the participants in the act of coitus, nor promise of offspring). Sirisena, if he is similarly ‘honoured’ (or branded with a cattle mark) in that way, he will be seen by the victim Sri Lankans of his treachery as being rewarded for destroying the country that they rescued from terrorist aggression at such cost in terms of blood and tears.

True, Charles, Mahinda bashing is their mainstay, as it has been from the beginning for nearly three years now. In a separate context, even supporters blame Mahinda for not abolishing 13A while he could. But such critics ignore the realities involved. Had he even suggested something like that at that time, his opponents would have seized upon the ‘opportunity’ thus created by such ‘racist brashness’ as they might have dubbed it, to depose him with the help of India and America.

  7. Sarath W Says:

I too agree that My3 and Ranil are traitors and could not be trusted and should be eliminated soon. Most of us who read Lanka Web love, trust and admire Mahinda, but at the same time we should accept that his arrogance and ignorance and the low life yes men who were around him were responsible for the election of My3 as president. Them My3 did the rest to bring Ranil into power.

The questions we should ask ourselves,

” is Mahinda the right person to lead a future government”?

“Does he have the courage to repel the 13th amendment”?

The only way to protect our national identity and the unitary state and bring racial harmony is to repel the 13th amendment and ban all the racially biased and religious parties. But the question is, who has the courage to do it.

    May I give the answers.

” is Mahinda the right person to lead a future government”?

Yes, if he promises to remove dreaded 13A and accpet responsibility for 2015 betrayal of the nation after giving him full freedom to do whatever in 2010. Don’t forget he is also responsible for sacrifice of 25000 soliders for the cause of liberation of motherlnad. Yes, he can take full credit for victory but alos the full responsibility to straigten up the country without ever going to the hands of seperatists.

” Does he have the courage to repel the 13th amendment”?

There is no question of courage, but he has already decided it is going to stay, listening to him since 2005. At no stage he said he will remove 13A. If he has said this once, please post eveidence here. In 2005 what he said was ,

“In the course of the consultative process, I shall initiate direct talks with Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam. I also intend to meet their leader and other representatives for such discussions. At such talks, I shall present the consensus reached to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam.”– Mahinda Chinthanaya 2005.

Whatever he said in 2005 is being carried out exactly by Ranil now. Whatever Ranil promised will be done by him with regard to constitution.

My intention is to devolve power to the level of the citizen.

Although , here he has entagleled himself in stupid terms such as ‘political solution’ and ‘power devolution’, he has hinted his dislike of 13 A.

  12. L Perera Says:

The merger between Sri Lankas major political parties in the last General Election has caused irrepperable damage to the Political System. The Westminister system is not designed for such an alliance that has created a pseudo dictatorship rather than a bicameral system of government. Not surprising is the fact that today, more that half the Members of Parliament are Ministers. Too many chiefs and too little Indians, as the old saying goes.
What’s ironic is that this situation was created by the VOTERS of SL in a democratically conducted Election. Therefore the onus is on the same voters of Sri Lanka to prevent a recurrence of this, at the next election.
The CHOICE is theirs and theirs only.

    Massive purge rocks SLFP

As purging of dissident SLFP leaders from the party is in full swing, incumbent and former Presidents of the party have expressed divergent opinions on the future of the SLFP.

President Maithripala Sirisena, on Thursday, called on his new electoral organisers to reorganise and prepare the party for the next election.

The president, handing over letters of appointment to the new electoral organisers at the President’s House, said the upcoming elections would be held under a new electoral system and the party had rid itself of its weak elements. The party should be reorganised to face the elections and that should be the duty of the newly appointed electoral organisers, the President said.

President Sirisena has removed Joint Opposition stalwarts and UPFA MPs Kumara Welgama and Mahindanada Aluthgamage from the posts of electoral organisers of Matugama and Nawalapitiya respectively. He has appointed 50 new electoral organisers including former President Chandrika Kumaratunga, who is the new SLFP organiser for the Attangalla electorate. Former deputy minister of trade Priyangani Abeyweera has been appointed the new SLFP organiser for the Matugama electorate while provincial councillor H. A. Ranasinghe has been appointed as the organiser for Nawalapitiya.

Former State Minister Priyankara Jayaratne has been removed as the Anamaduwa organiser and the vacancy so created has been filled with Wayamba Provincial Councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara by President Sirisena.

An SLFP minister said four other party seniors would be removed from their electoral organiser posts in the coming days. He said former ministers Chamal Rajapaksa, Vidura Wickramanayake, Ranjith de Zoysa and Arundika Fernando would be removed as party organisers. They had been accused of non-cooperation to ensure SLFP’s reorganising programme and supporting the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna, the senior minister said.

He said Vidura Wickremanayake was not well and Chamal Rajapaksa had informed President that he would never leave the SLFP so their removal had got delayed.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking to The Island from Japan said he regretted the way the affairs of the party were being handled. The incumbent leadership was sacking all those who did not toe the line of the leadership. The end result would be a weakened party, he said, adding that the UNP would gain from that exercise. “I strengthened the party. I made it the strongest party in the country. Now, it is extremely weak. All SLFP members are disheartened to see the way former leaders are being treated. Most capable leaders have been axed. The grassroots leadership of the party has now been weakened and the UNP will get its benefit,” Rajapaksa said.

Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage vowed that he would join a new political force and obtain the highest number of votes with the help of true SLFP members in his electorate. “Seven seniors have been removed from the party’s electoral posts. All those seven polled more than 100,000 votes each during the last elections. We have been removed because we do not support the Yahapalana programme. We know the SLFP members in the grassroots and with their support we will come to power and someday form an SLFP government.”

Former Minister Kumara Welgama said the SLFP was now dancing to the tune of the UNP. The party leadership had become a prisoner of the UNP and removing all the capable leaders from the organiser posts. “I protected the party for 35 years. But now I am saddened to see the party is being led according to the whims and fancies of the UNP. I was given the electoral organiser’s post by Madam Sirimavo Bandaranaike. Though her son and daughter left the party I remained there. I will do my best to work with the Joint Opposition to save the SLFP.”

    Our children are UNDERNOURISHED!

I see this with my own eyes everyday in my voluntary mission to help the poorest and most vulnerabe children in Sri Lanka!

MOST of our children are UNDERWEIGHT for their height!

Despite our tradition of eating vegetables and green leaves, together with our massive reliance on carbohydrates to supply the bulk of the energy, our children are underweight.

It may be due to a deficiency in essential micro-nutrients in their diets. I buy and distribute Daily Multi-Vitamin tablets to my tribe of kids for this very reason.

I would like to hear from other readers about this, especially those who are medical doctors who have studied this issue.

    ………………………………….

  17. Charles Says:

    Sarath W,

I think it is still Mahinda R that we can rely on as a patriotic leader who will not sell the country, and continue the development work he undertook. I see no one suitable to replace him. He has the right vision and the right attitude to lead the country. What he did when he became the President is unique in the Sri Lankan history. I think even he may have had doubts of winning terrorism. But that victory was a victory for Sri Lanka, which has been badly managed by the Yahapalanaya crowd.

Nevertheless, Rajapakse is an ordinary man . He was perhaps not prepared for a government after the end of terrorism. He faced an unexpected number of enemy forces. He had so many things to do after the elimination of the terrorists and so many critics to face, and he had mostly to depend on himself to find the direction in which Sri Lanka should be taken. In that confused state he may have taken wrong decisions, and failed to take appropriate action such as removing 13A and abolishing TNA as a political party.

With the elimination of terrorism the West led by USA that did not help Sri Lanka in its military operations against terrorism rose in massive proportions against Sri Lanka determined to remove Mahinda Rajapakse as they did with people friendly leaders like Mosaddeq,Salvadore Allande, Lumumba , Gaddafi etc.

Therefore its normal that he could not do all what he should have done. Perhaps his calling for an early election was to rectify his errors and continue the development projects which he would have been sure would be messed up if the UNP forms a government after him.

  18. Ananda-USA Says:

Like Charles, I too believe that Mahinda Rajapaksa is the ONLY LEADER who can lead Sri Lanka effectively and secure it’s territorial integrity and develop it into a modern thriving country in the future.

What he has done for us patriotic Sri Lankans us beyond measure, and exceeds what every one of his predecessors in post- independence Sri Lanka had achieved.

We OWE him our GRATITUDE, our ALLEGIANCE and our PROTECTION for REUNITING our Motherland and RESTORING to us the BASIC FREEDOM to live without FEAR OF TERRORISM!

If he pledges to REPEAL the 13th Amendment, DISSOLVE the Provincial Councils and retain and further strengthen the Executive Presidency, I would support him to the hilt.

Long live the Patriots of Sri Lanka!
Long live our Patriotic Courageous President Mahinda Rajapaksa!

  22. Fran Diaz Says:

Some people say that Pres MR should have done this or that, especially removed the 13-A, when he had the power to do so as President of Lanka.

But, the times of MR in power were such, similar to the times of JRJ in power in the 1980s, or worse after the war with the LTTE, with INDIA & the UN plus some powerful western countries breathing down the neck of Lanka, the UNHRC accusing Lanka of “war crimes”, it was virtually impossible to move freely to save Lanka from the 13-A.
At least, MR made ‘lemonaide out of the 13-A lemon’ by winning the southern PCs (part of 13-A), for his govt.

NOW is the time to remove the 13-A, with the LTTE gone (thanks to the MR govt & the Armed Forces), and with Ranil well in with the International Democratic Union (IDU), as the leader of the UNP which party is the party registered with the IDU, and also leading the Yahap govt.

PS: the number of soldiers who died in the final war against the LTTE when the MR govt was in power is some 6,000, and MR is not responsible for their deaths either. The LTTE lost some 7,000 plus in the Final War.

Main items responsible for the long drawn out war with the terrorist group, the LTTE :

    * If the Vadukoddai Resolution of 1976 was never brought forward,
    * and the 13-A was never imposed ILLEGALLY on Sri Lanka by INDIA, Tamil Separatism would NOT have happened, and Lanka soldiers would not have died, neither would the LTTE have been formed and civil war would NOT have happened.
Blame the right parties for war in Lanka.

    For present times :
Repeat : YAHAP GOVT ideal group to remove the 13-A.

  23. Vaisrawana Says:

    Dilrook,

    In your comment

“The most influential supporter of the new constitution is the Asgiriya chief prelate.

No one dares to talk against him and he is having absolute power.”

shouldn’t it be ‘the Malwatte chief prelate’, rather than ‘the Asgiriya chief prelate’?

The Malwatte incumbent is undoubtedly the most imbecile Mahanayake ever appointed to that post. His IQ is abnormally low. He is an ardent supporter of the UNP and an admirer of the strange Ranil, whose repressed chuckle whenever he calls on the monks for propaganda purposes or talks about them is almost audible to the discerning public. Someone said that his brain is the size of a thibbotugediya. Even that could be a compliment to him. The Asgiriya prelate has earned the wrath of the Y’palana Pigs. The immediate reaction to the Asgiriya Statement was the raid on the pin pettiya of the historic Dambulla vihara by that eunuch education minister Akilawiraj Kariyawasam, R’s pet.

  24. Dilrook Says:

    @Vaisrawana

Yes; he is the most vocal and obvious supporter. But there is no point talking of him as it is too obvious and for the reason you have mentioned!

I tried to rope in both in my Sinhala article without being too specific.

  25. Ananda-USA Says:

    Dilrook,

I too was puzzled by your reference to the Asgiriya prelate and not the Malwatte prelate.

Can you clarify why, given that the Asgiriya chapter has recently been in the forefront of criticizing the New Constitution and the Yamapalanaya activities in general?

  26. SA Kumar Says:

    Wimal Weerawansa
We-Tamil want to call OUR Mother Land as Sinhela Lanka ( Chignhela Theevu) not ‘akeeya’,‘eksath,‘orumiththa !!!
This is what you should ask .
ane… last 2,500 years We need to your help.

  27. SA Kumar Says:

or ask agree with them you do not mind ‘akeeya’,‘eksath,‘orumiththa or any other O Tamil jilmal word but it should end up Sinhela Lanka eg: United/orumiththa/ekeeya Sinhela (Desiya?) Radda ( Chignkela Naadu) !!!

  28. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,

You are saying something different to the Tamil leaders.
You are saying to keep to ‘Sinhala Lanka’ whilst the Tamil leaders are saying differently. For example, the CM of NP, Wignesawaran, says ‘don’t marry Sinhala people’ whilst his own own children have done just that.
Also, they say ‘No Buddha statues in the Northern areas’, when the Northern areas are also historically inclusive of Buddhism, with ample proof.

    So the Questions arise :
Do the Tamil People break with the wishes of the Tamil leaders and ‘do their own thing’ in Lanka ?
Also, will the Tamil people elect new leaders in keeping with their wishes ?

  29. SA Kumar Says:

    Fran Diaz
Do the Tamil People break with the wishes of the Tamil leaders and ‘do their own thing’ in Lanka ? Tamil people do when time is right . that day Sampanthan, MA Sumanthiran, CM Viggie will loose their deposit money in the election.

but unfortunately Our Sinhela leader are not doing right think in right time !!!

Example When the war come to the end May 2009 if MR have fulfiled his promise 13 Plus ( fully implement 13A & 6A) We-Tamil would have been replaced Mahathma Gandhi status in Jaffna hospital to his father status D A Rajapaksa .

is not that our Karma ???

  30. Fran Diaz Says:

We hope that the Tamil people of Sri Lanka (especially the Tamil Diaspora who are running on ancient schedules), will realise that Climate Change is happening all over the world, and will affect Sri Lanka too, especially along the coast, as a 15 ft rise in sea levels are expected with the polar cap meltdown.
Maldivians are very aware of this.

It is far better for all communities in Sri Lanka to get together, be PATRIOTS, and solve the Climate Change problems here, also other problems such as food preservation and storage for future use for all, suitable shelter, etc. etc.

    Let us SURVIVE together !

  31. SA Kumar Says:

    Also Fran Diaz

If MR fulfil what He promised (13 Plus) We-Tamil would have been elected EPDP Douclas Devananda as CM not Colombo 3 Viggie .

Remember We-Tamil voted to SF even though We knew He killed our Thesiya Thalaivar VP !!!

  32. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,

    Nothing was promised by MR.
It was merely an offer, not taken. MR as President was making attempts at Reconciliation.

  33. SA Kumar Says:

    Fran Diaz

It was merely an offer, not taken- Common My Sinhela Sakodaraya ….. Offer & acceptance, this is not business this our 20 million people life, ALL Mother Lankan Life.

MR was People elected President of Republic of Srilanka Lanka ….!!!!

Nothing was promised by MR.- Wrong ! He has promised 13 PLUS to not only We-Tamil but also to India (also I myself personaly believed him ) once was finish .

From DS to MR all let down us (Tamil) , I hope & pray Hon MS will be change the history of Sinhela Lanka forever (never ever will have Eelam war V in Bhudda’s ( this what We-Tamil believe) Holy land ) .

  34. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,

Tamil Separatism has been tolerated in Sri Lanka with various platitudes from varous non-Tamil leaders, rather than straight ‘rough actions’ against unreasonable Tamil Leaders demands. This is in recognition of the ground realities within Lanka and with INDIA and other foreign countries.

Realities faced by Lanka non-Tamil leaders includes recognition of the INDIAN connection via Tamil Nadu and the CASTE divide between Tamils, and includes knowledge of the COLD WAR, and past COLONISATION realities.

One wonders how Tamil Nadu leaders would have faced similar Separatist aggressions for power from smaller groups there ?

The nearly 30 yrs of growth of terrorism with the LTTE resulted in the end in a war. Ordinary Tamil people benefitted the most from the conclusion of this war. Mostly, Tamil families no longer had to give up their children to the ruthless LTTE. In the end, over 26,000 Army people died through the long years of this war in the LTTE, and loss of funds to the State, loss of property, reputation abroad etc. Sinhala Buddhists lost heavily throughout the nearly 30 yrs of war with the LTTE, as did Tamil families who stayed on in Lanka.
Who pays for these losses ? Tamil leaders who constantly demand Separatism ?

No country hands over parts of their country on demand to smaller, aggressive groups brought in by Colonists.
Tamils by their unreasonable demands are only bifurcating Lanka and commencing eternal war through a Tamil Nadu & INDIAN cultural take over, re-imposing CASTE in the North as well as an ECONOMIC take over by various foreign countries and INDIA.

The only answer to the problem is that ALL in Lanka become PATRIOTS & NATIONALISTS.
Move forward addressing urgent SURVIVAL ISSUES such as Climate Change which is happening, adding on food production, education, proper shelter etc.

  35. Fran Diaz Says:

    Contd.

Besides all that, haven’t the Tamil leaders over the many years taken ordinary Tamil folk who came to Lanka to WORK in Lanka and turned them into Terrorists ?

    Questions to ask :
What would other Democratic countries have done under similar circumstances ?
Who has let down the Tamil folk as well as the Others of Lanka ?
