Juda after the last “ hopper”,  sold his leader and friend, to his enemies.

This is for those in Yahapalanaya who champion SLFP remaining with UNP.

Some where in the month of November, 2014, Maithripala Sirisena shared the last hopper” with his political leader and friend and broke away from the SLFP to the opposite camp led by UNP.

It was exactly the opposite of what SWRD Bandaranaike did in 1951, when he broke away from the UNP and left to form his own political party the SLFP.

Maithripala Sirisena had no one to accompany him  when he left the SLFP to join the UNP, where as SWRD had a number of followers  who left the UNP along with him who formed the SLFP in 1956.

Maithripala Sirisena had Ranil Wickramasinghe the UNP Leader  and Chandrika  Kumaratunga ( an unconvinced SLFP er) to welcome him to the UNP side.

But SWRD  as the leader of  SLFP  had the Sri Lanka left wing political leaders, Philip Gunawardhane , N.M.Perera, Dr.S.A.Wickramasinghe, Colvin R. De Siva, Peter Keuneman  and others to welcome him , who later founded  along with SLFP the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna.

Maithripala Sirisena left the SLFP to became a part of the UNP led Common Opposition  to SLFP. Later power seeking politicians in the SLFP like Sarath Amunugama, Mahinda Samarasinghe, S.B.Dissanayake  et al trickled in  to take refuge behind Maithripala Sirisena.

As long as President Maithripala Sirisena remains a part of the UNP lead Government , he has no moral right to be the President of the SLFP. Therefore in reality it would still be Mahinda Rajapakse who is the President of the SLFP which was founded by SWRD Bandaranayake.

President Mahinda Rajapakse what ever his adversaries have to say about him was a generous leader. He  knew that with Maithripala Sirisena  as the President some of the members of the SLFP  greedy for power would leave the party like rats leaving a sinking ship.

Therefore, Mahinda Rajapakse did not want to be responsible for the breakup of the SLFP of SWRD Bandaranayake, who built the Party for the people of Sri Lanka and for the progress of it, economically, socially and culturally. Therefore seeing that the power greedy members of the SLFP were already trickling to  sit on the shade besides Maithripala Sirisena, the President Mahinda Rajapakse the visionary leader he was took a decision to hand over the Presidency of the SLFP to the new President.

In doing so on the 16 January,2015, he said  that ‘…..Having held membership and various offices including the Party leadership, and having nurtured and safeguarded the Party with great dedication for over 50 years, I am taking this decision as I have a great dislike to see the Sri Lanka Freedom Party face the danger of division.”

For Maithripala Sirisena that was an unexpected windfall. He accepted it without any graceful word of gratitude. His letter of acceptance addressed to the President Mahinda Rajapakse was not like a letter of a farmer’s son elevated to the high office of a President, not the words of a President  addressed to his people- not only to  the 62 lakhs who voted for him but also to those who voted against him.

Maithripala Sirisena if he is a good Buddhist President, he should not spit venom at anyone not even at his enemies. Becoming the office of a President is a great responsibility because once elected he becomes the President of all the people of the Country those who voted for him, as well as those who voted against him, of his friends and of his enemies.

But Srisena nevertheless wrote a pretentious, grotesquely  hateful, letter which does no honour even  to the name Maithripala” he bears.

He wrote, Both of us entered national politics from this great party. The SLFP and the voters who kept their faith in it made you the Executive President of this country twice. However, I have become the President in a different manner. That is, by challenging you as the candidate of the common opposition, and by giving leadership to and organizing the growing discontent with your administration. Thereby, I have been able to retain the Executive Presidency within the party as it was slipping away from you and the party. The secret to my success of winning the trust of all opposition parties and groups that stood against you was the inseparable, untainted and genuine relationship between me and the SLFP.”

History of Sri Lanka are plenty of stories of persons who honoured and respected their defeated enemies. After all Maithripala Sirisena cannot have any personal animosity against the man with whom he had the last hopper” before he caste him to the hostile arena of political enemies. That only shows how low people can fall even in winning the highest office in  the country.

What appears to have happened today is that the President Maithripala Sirisena has become a decotration , his voice not been heard on important political issues that has set fire on the minds of Sinhala Buddhists. He is unable to  execute what he thinks is correct and rectify the errors  of  his Prime Minister.

His hands are bound by whatever agreements he may have entered into with UNP, TNA,JVP, JHU, SLMC and the rest. He saw the worst Bond Scam ever happening before his eyes, but he could not even sack the miscreant Governor of the Bank. He appointed a Presidential Commission of Investigation into the Bond Scan but the UNP Ministers called to give evidence was not allowed to be cross examined. Then again when the Prime Minister was about to be called before the Commission, the Commission was asked to terminate further sittings.

Maithripala Sirisena has become this Yahapalanaya Government’s President for reconciliation with Tamils and nothing else. He pardons the LTTE sympathisers who had attacked him, but he allows  Mahinda Rajapakse , his family and his supporters to be accused on false allegations.

The Local Government elections are prolonged even by use of  ruse and falsehood.

A ridiculously , but a most disastrous  interim report on the new Constitution to be written is placed before the Parliament. In the proposed  Sinhala version of the  Constitution they use a Tamil word to define Unitary as if the Sinhala language has no word to define ‘Unitary’. They use the word Orumittanadu abandoning even the Tamil word hitherto used to define Unitary in the Tamil version of the 1978 Constitution.

The English version of the Constitution is also to  have the word ekiya/ orumittanadu  instead of unitary. Who in the world reading our constitution in English will understand  what is  Ekiya Orimittanadu ? Are they writing a Constitution or a Comedy ?

The President with his hands bound is helpless – he has to say yes to his Prime Minister who  in turn is  bound by his white masters of the West to write a New Constitution at all cost. The President acts as required by his Prime Minister, as a tool for reconciliation. The National Anthem is already mutilated, being  sung in Tamil by the Tamil and in Sinhala by the Sinhala.

If Sri Lanka is to be saved the writing of the new Constitution should be stopped and executive powers of the President should be restored.

In this  present situation if the President hesitates to put his foot down and say no to evil actions being perpetrated against Sri Lanka by Ranil Wickramasinghe and his UNP cohorts, the President Maithripala Sirisena will go down to history as a puppet President who sold Sri Lanka to Tamils on a pseudo reconciliation project where only the Sinhala people want reconciliation while Tamils want separation.

If Maithripala Sirisen as the President is unable to use his Presidential authority or executive powers to stop the writing of a new Constitution based on the interim report now before them in the Parliament, the SLFPers who had taken refuge behind  the President should have the courage and the  intelligence  to leave him.

Because,  in not taking any action to stop Ranil Wickramasinghe and his UNP companions continuing to destroy the sovereignty , independence, and unity amoung the Communities in Sri Lanka, all those SLFPers supporting  Maithripala Sirisena will be equally  responsible for destabilising and ending the 2500 or more years old Sri Lanka that belong primarily to the Sinhala Buddhists, and then to the minory communities who had accepted to live with the Sinhala as Sri Lankans..

Which way is Sri Lanka Going ?

It has to be determined by all the members of the SLFP in the Parliament. If they are real patriots and members of the SLFP formed by SWRD Bandaranayake they should stand as one against the interim report for a new Constitution which is due to be debated in Parliament. They should  refuse to give the two third majority to pass the destructive document as a bill which would be the basis for a Constitution with a definite Federal Character as demanded by the West and the Tamil Diaspora.

His predecessor sold part of Wilpattu for whatever reason and perhaps he will sell the whole of it for Sri Lankan Airlines. Better to close it down the useless thing rather than negotiate with them.

Charles I love my country same as you do. You, Shenali and others write valuable articles regarding the dangers facing our country on daily basis but the current Yamapalanaya never understand or taking any note of the feelings of the poor people in this country. It’s so sad and hurtful. Before foreign coup plotters plan their next move same as Jan 8th we need to do something to remove this evil Yamapalanaya government. Our president Mahinda Rajapaksa must act soon on behalf of the people before it’s too late. He should tell the public where he stands truthfully. Sirisena cannot be trusted. Mahinda or his 54 die hard supporters in the parliament should not waste time discussing with Sirisena or any other SLFPER’S. Valuable time wasted on such discussions. He should take the lead and promote his new party with the blessings of Maha Sanga and the well loved supporters of him before long for us to prepare for the coming elections. People are longing to see that happen.

The current evil rulers must go for sure. We can see how the west and Indians fingering to our affairs. UN and other parties too poking their fingers unnecessarily in to our affairs more than any other time. We are in a very dangerous situation and the ordinary folks doesn’t understand much about all this. Opposition must educate them by going to their homes, villages and towns. This is not a joke. This evil clique playing with fire. They don’t care about the country. They love power and money. I wish something bigger will fall on this evil lot and destroy them all for no return
JAYAWEWA patriots. May God helps us all.

Aloy, Who was the leader from 1948 did some thing for this country and the people( except ofcourse SWRD). If you say that he allowed losses in enterprises, he did more that canoot be measured from profit margin. Mihin Lanka ? Is that all you think of when ysome one writes about MahindaR ? What about all that he gave to Sri Lanka ? What is going to happen tomorrow with this government is monstrous. That would be the end of Sri Lanka that were born into. Perhaps that is what you want and very soon we may have white masters deciding your future ?

    Charles,
MR should take a decisive stand against the proposed constitution and prevent it even being discussed in parliament. Roads have to be blocked to prevent the traitors gathering there. It is a shame that they now want to call SL a Orumitta Nadu. This is all because the terrorists were defeated and MR didn’t listened to the western leaders somewhere deep south under a tree. He shouldn’t cow down to blackmail and stand like a true leader once again.

A QUAINT but EFFECTIVE practice that should brought to Sri Lanka to REWARD the MP’s who raise their hands in support of the NEW TRAITORS CONSTITUTION in the Sri Lankan Parliament!

SOW disaster by ELECTING greedy MUTTS & serial TRAITORS to Parliament, and this is what we REAP!

TIME to SWEEP the STABLES CLEAN

USS Nimitz, arguably the world’s most powerful Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier, leading an immensely strong battle-group with a strong contingent of US Marines, attack and troop-carrying helicopters on board, is STANDING OFFSHORE Colombo Port, Sri Lanka …. even as I write this comment …. and WILL BE HERE during the DEBATE and VOTE in Parliament on the NEW TRAITORS CONSTITUTION!

The last time a Western Carrier group visited Sri Lanka was DECADES ago!

Why NOW, and Why when a Bill crafted by and Supported by the USA is being DEBATED in Parliament?? This DOES NOT SEEM like a COINCIDENCE!

I ask, to WHAT PURPOSE is this task force here? Is it to QUELL ANY POPULAR UPRISING AGAINST the NEW TRAITORS CONSTITUTION?

Is this a PLANNED PLOT by the Yamapalanaya TRAITORS in COLLUSION with a Foreign Country to FORCE the NEW TRAITORS CONSTITUTION down Sri Lanka’s THROAT?? Is this ANOTHER CHILLING ASPECT of the Yamapalana TREACHERY to DEPRIVE the Sinhala Buddhists of Sri Lanka the RIGHT TO DEMONSTRATE & PROTEST to the MAXIMUM on the eve of HIGH TREASON?

Be WARNED Patriots of Sri Lanka!

  8. Ananda-USA Says:

Should Sinhala Buddhists stage MASS DEMONSTRATIONS against the NEW TRAITORS CONSTITUTION, BEFORE it is DEBATED, or AFTER if it is APPROVED by a 2/3 VOTE in Parliament, the Yamapalanaya MAY NOT BE CONFIDENT of the support of the Police Force and the Armed Forces, largely manned by Sinhala Buddhists to ACT AGAINST Sinhala Buddhists!

In such an event, they would APPEAL to foreign countries for EMERGENCY MILITARY ASSISTANCE to QUELL public protests by Sinhaala Buddhists.

Is that why the US Naval Task Force is NOW offshore Colombo, and the Indian Navy has just concluded a joint Military Exercise with the Sri Lankan Navy, Maithripala Sirisena recently promoted and set-aside the Tamil head of the Navy, and appointed another Navy chief and MR went abroad to India to escape the potential violence?

Is it to PREPARE for the use Foreign Forces to PROTECT the Yamapalanaya against Sinhala Buddhist PROTESTERS? FOOD for THOUGHT! The next FEW DAYS will REVEAL the TRUTH!

U.S. Nimitz Carrier Strike Group with aircraft carrier USS Nimitz arrives in Sri Lanka
Sat, Oct 28, 2017, 07:15 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 28, Colombo: The United States Navy Nimitz Carrier Strike Group including the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz arrived in Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port today on a goodwill mission.

The Sri Lankan Navy welcomed the Carrier Strike Group ships which include the USS Nimitz, the cruiser USS Princeton, and destroyers USS Howard, USS Shoup, USS Pinckney, and USS Kidd according to naval traditions.

Reflecting the growing relationship between the U.S. and Sri Lankan navies, this is the first time an aircraft carrier has visited Sri Lanka since 1985, and follows the recent completion of the inaugural bilateral Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) naval exercise.

An invited group including State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, U. S. Ambassador Atul Keshap and a state television crew visited the aircraft carrier yesterday while it was 150 nm off Colombo.

“Building our maritime partnership in step with Sri Lankas own progress on reconciliation and human rights advances our shared national goals of fostering security and stability,” U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Atul Keshap said.

It is estimated that the carrier strike group will add approximately 1.54 billion rupees ($10 million USD) to the Sri Lankan economy as the ships purchase supplies and thousands of U.S. sailors come ashore and support local businesses. During the visit, sailors will have opportunities to explore the local community and meet with their counterparts in the Sri Lankan Navy. While in port, sailors will also work with local non-profit organizations to support community service events at a local hospital, an orphanage, and other sites.

The ships are scheduled to depart Colombo on October 31, 2017.

Kurdish leader Barzani resigns after independence vote backfires

By Raya Jalabi and Maher Chmaytelli
    Reuters•October 29, 2017

ERBIL/BAGHDAD Iraq (Reuters) – Iraqi Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani said he would give up his position as president on Nov. 1, after an independence referendum he championed backfired and triggered a regional crisis.

There was high drama at the Kurdish parliament, which was stormed by armed protesters as it met to approve the veteran leader’s resignation as Kurdish president. Some MPs were barricaded in their offices on Sunday evening.

In a televised address, his first since Iraqi forces launched a surprise offensive to recapture Kurdish-held territory on Oct. 16, Barzani confirmed that he would not extend his presidential term after Nov. 1 “under any conditions”.

“I am the same Masoud Barzani, I am a Peshmerga (Kurdish fighter) and will continue to help my people in their struggle for independence,” said Barzani, who has campaigned for Kurdish self-determination for nearly four decades.

The address followed a letter he sent to parliament in which he asked members to take measures to fill the resulting power vacuum.

The region’s parliament met in the Kurdish capital Erbil on Sunday to discuss the letter. A majority of 70 Kurdish MPs voted to accept Barzani’s request and 23 opposed it, Kurdish TV channels Rudaw and Kurdistan 24 said.

Demonstrators, some carrying clubs and guns, stormed the parliament building as the session was in progress.

Gunshots were heard. Some protesters outside the building said they wanted to “punish” MPs who they said had “insulted” Barzani. Some attacked journalists at the scene.

A Kurdish official had told Reuters on Saturday that Barzani had decided to hand over the presidency without waiting for elections that had been set for Nov. 1 but which have now been delayed by eight months.

The region, which had enjoyed unprecedented autonomy for years, has been in turmoil since the independence referendum a month ago prompted military and economic retaliation from Iraq’s central government in Baghdad.

In his address, Barzani vigorously defended his decision to hold the Sept. 25 referendum, the results of which “can never be erased”, he said. The vote was overwhelmingly for independence and triggered the military action by the Baghdad government and threats from neighboring Turkey and Iran.

He added that the Iraqi attack on Kirkuk and other Kurdish held territory vindicated his position that Baghdad no longer believed in federalism and instead wanted to curtail Kurdish rights.

    U.S. CONDEMNED

Barzani condemned the United States for failing to back the Kurds. “We tried to stop bloodshed but the Iraqi forces and Popular Mobilization Front (Shi’ite militias) kept advancing, using U.S. weapons,” he said.

“Our people should now question, whether the U.S. was aware of Iraq’s attack and why they did not prevent it.”

Barzani has been criticized by Kurdish opponents for the loss of the city of Kirkuk, oil-rich and considered by many Kurds to be their spiritual home.

His resignation could help facilitate a reconciliation between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraq’s central government, whose retaliatory measures since the referendum have transformed the balance of power in the north.

Barzani has led the KRG since it was established in 2005. His second term expired in 2013 but was extended without elections being held as Islamic State militants swept across vast swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.

U.S.-backed Iraqi government forces, Iranian-backed paramilitaries and Kurdish fighters fought alongside each other to defeat Islamic State but the alliance has faltered since the militants were largely defeated in the country.

After the Kurdish vote, Iraqi troops were ordered by the country’s prime minister Haider al-Abadi to take control of areas claimed by both Baghdad and the KRG.

Abadi also wants to take control of the border crossings between the Kurdish region and Turkey, Iran and Syria, including one through which an oil export pipeline crosses into Turkey, carrying Iraqi and Kurdish crude oil.

The fall of Kirkuk – a multi-ethnic city which lies outside the KRG’s official boundaries – to Iraqi forces on Oct. 16 was a major symbolic and financial blow to the Kurds’ independence drive because it halved the region’s oil export revenue.

Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga started a second round of talks on Sunday to resolve a conflict over control of the Kurdistan region’s border crossings, Iraqi state TV said.

A first round was held on Friday and Saturday, with Abadi ordering a 24-hour suspension on Friday of military operations against Kurdish forces.

He demanded on Thursday that the Kurds declare their referendum void, rejecting the KRG offer to suspend its independence push to resolve a crisis through talks, saying in a statement: “We won’t accept anything but its cancellation and the respect of the constitution.”

The presence of such a large naval force from the US is not coincidental but intended to protect the traitors just like what they did few days prior to VP’s demise. This actually is the culmination of so many plots but can even pass off as a normal thing depending on how MS handles it. We cannot expect any help for Sinhalas from ms even though he reassures the venerable monks. I believe this will end up disastrously for both US and India. Us most probably meet their new Vietnam in SL if they proceed any further. Perhaps they are only testing the resolve of Sinhalas.
