ප්‍රේමදාස අධ්‍යාපනය ලැබුවේ කොළඹ ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් විදුහලෙන් නොවේ. ඒකාලේ මරදානෙ තිබ්බා ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් නයිට් ස්කූල් කියලා දුප්පත් ලමයින්ට පොඩි පාසලක්.
මේ පාසල කොලඹ සෙන්ට් ජෝස්ෆ් එක සමග කිසිම සබඳතාවක් තිබ්බේ නෑ. ප්‍රේමදාස නයිට් ස්කූල් ගියේ කේ ජයතිලක සමග . කේ ජයතිලක මේක කිව්වේ ප්‍රේමදාස මිය ගිය පසුව.
නමුත් කොලඹ සෙන්ට් ජෝස්ෆ් එක ප්‍රේමදාසව අන්දවලා පැවිලියන් එකකුත් හදා ගත්තා. වරක් කොලඹ සෙන්ට් ජෝස්ෆ් ඕබීඒ එකේ මීටිමක එක් පුද්ගලයෙක් ප්‍රේමදාසගේ ක්ලාස්මේට් කෙනෙක් ඉන්නවනම් ඇවිත් ගන්න කියලා රුපියල් 1000 කොලයක් පෙන්නුවා.
ඒ කාලේ රුපියල් 1000 කොලයක් කියන්නේ ලොකු මුදලක්. කවුරුවත් ආවේ නෑ. බොරුවක් බව දැනගෙනත් මෑතකදී අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා කොළඹ ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් විද්‍යලයට ගිහින් ප්‍රේමදාස ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් විද්‍යාලයේ සිටි උදාර ආදි සිසුවෙකු බව කිව්වා.
බොරුවක් බව දැනගෙනත් ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් විද්‍යලයේ ෆාදස්ලා ඒක අනුමත කරමින් අත්පුඩි ගැහුවා. ඇයි අපි බොරුව බොරුව වශයෙනුත් සත්‍ය සත්‍ය වශයෙනුත් දකින්න බය?

He is one of the worst Presidents (not PMs , which will go to Ranil) in my view.
I know the writer’s point is differnet but what is so important about of going to ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් ?
Listening to some youtube clips I feel ශාන්ත ජෝෂප් නයිට් ස්කූල් is a very good school to learn how to speak English, if he learned the language there. Also to the contrary what we heard, he is form a rich family, not a poor family.
Those days we thought Premadasa could not speak English, but it was wrong. He spoke better English than Ranil and all other Presidents between him and the current.

Ranil speaks Burgher English learned from Royal College. Compared to Ranil’s English Premadasa had more refined way of expression

It is not the school in question in my opinion. The person. Traitor alugosuwa (to Sinhalese only) lk r@ premadasa
was a brutal brutal murderous thug who was instrumental in killing of so many Sinhalese youth, artists, etc. etc. Still some traitor Sinhalese revere the monster. Sinhalaya famous for being modayas, we should not be surprised.

There were night schools in the 40s and 50s for adults to attend mainly for English. But unfortunately all such measures disappeared with Banda after 1956.
