Gunawansa Thera: Why is international community silent on bond scams?

Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera said, on Thursday, that those who meddled with Sri Lanka’s affairs remained silent on the Treasury bond scams, exposing their stark hypocrisy.

Addressing a gathering at the National Library and Documentation Services Board, Ven. Gunawansa Thera said if the Western powers and civil society groups really meant what they preached they should ashed the government to step down over the massive financial scam.

Turning towards leader of the Joint Opposition parliamentary group Dinesh Gunawardena, the main speaker at the event, the Thera faulted the outfit for not exploiting the revelations made by Lord Naseby.

Commenting on the government’s response to the Conservative party politician’s statement in House of Lords debate on Oct 12, 2017, the Thera accused the yahapalana administration of being insensitive to the feelings of those who had risked their lives for the country.

The Thera referred to the plight of senior officers like Commodore D. K. P. Dassanayake and Lt. Commander Ranasinghe now in remand custody over their alleged involvement in some abductions during the war.

    I completely endorse and support Ven. Elle Gunwansa’s comments on these issues.

    The HYPOCRISY of the West, and the SUPINE INACTION of both the JOINT OPPOSITION and the Yamapalana government are ASTOUNDING!

    Are they MICE or MEN?
