මෑතකදී ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් පැවසු පරිදි ශ්‍රීලංකාවේ පසුගිය රජය ලබාගත් කී ඇ. ඩොලර් බිලියන 58 ක ණය බොරුවක් බවද ඒ මහතා සදහන් කරයි.
සත්‍ය සංඛ්‍යා ලේඛන මහා බැංකුව සතුව ඇති බවත් පවසන කබ්රාල් මහතා නිසි කරුණු හැදෑරීමකින් තොරව ජනාධිපතිවරයා විසින් අදහස් ප්‍රකාශ කරන බවත් වැඩි දුරටත් සදහන් කර තිබේ.

Utterly foolish on the part of the president to convert $9.5 billion to rupees 9.5 trillion (which is close to the total outstanding foreign debt).
He should have fact checked before making a fool of himself amidst all media institutions.

KKS Presidential Palace to be high-end hotel International investors keen to take over

President Maithripala Sirisena revealed that the vacant ‘Presidential Palace’ built in Kankesanthurai (KKS) in the Northern Province on a hundred acre land costing Rs 3.5 billion will be turned into a high end tourist hotel to generate profit for Sri Lanka.
Construction on the presidential palace commenced in 2012……and was completed with 20 specially designed rooms and luxury suites with expensive chandeliers, two swimming pools, and rest rooms with residential facilities and several auditoriums as well as a golf course.
Sirisena further said that several international investors have approached his Secretariat with quotations and requests for the mammoth project to be handed over to them. Speaking at the LG election rally in Gampaha on Friday, the President stated that the former President used people’s money to build a luxury palace complex that had not yielded anything.
Right after his defeat in 2015, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said in a press communiqué that the Presidential Palace in the North was only an ‘International Relations Centre’ to host foreign dignitaries and other such individuals and delegations visiting the North or the East. The former President also noted that he received Cabinet approval to construct it.
It is also said that the Northern Provincial Council had also approached the President for the ‘Presidential Palace,’ so that they could run it as a hotel, while Jaffna University had urged the Government at the end of 2015, to hand it over to them to be run as an educational centre.
