Disciplinary action against police personnel for assaulting female protestors

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has instructed the DIG of North Central province to take disciplinary action against the police personnel who assaulted females at a temple in Eppawala.

The police spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara stated this yesterday (29).

Recently, several female protesters at a temple in Nallamaduwa, Eppawala were assaulted by police personnel following tensions arising when the police tried to disperse the crowd.

The protests were held against a priest who lives in the said temple.

    SHAME ! SHAME ! THE FEMALES WERE ASSAULTED WITH CLUBS AND POLES. THEY MUST BE ASSAULTING THEIR WIVES MOTHERS AND SISTERS AND FEMALE SERVANTS IF ANY, IN THE SAME WAY.

    its a disgrace and has brought shame on the country. Pujitha Jayasundera has proved beyond doubt that he is incapable. The IGP should resign before putting the blame on every body else.

    Police now ae confirmed to be a bunch of criminals. In the last few weeks how many policeman of high ranking have been arrested following investigations of high profile killings in sri lanka. A police commission is needed to investigate the problems of the police. and bring thinks back to order
