We have lost so much interest in the game as we have lost confidence in the Sri Lankan squad.  In fact writing or commenting about them itself is an absolute waste of time.

In the first game SL lost to Bangladesh.  Around 260 runs was not a formidable task in modern day ODIs.   Our bowlers did very well contain BD players with an enormous apitite to win, with or without HATHURUSINHE.    It was the batsmen who crumbled, very early days definition of SL cricketers as Wooden Spooners, is still valid.

So the surgery for the next match should be looking at our batsmen, not bowlers.

The disgusting selectors omitted SURANGA LAKMAL, APONSO AND DILRUWAN PERERA. When there is a problem, you need to follow a certain sequence, such as :

  1. Define the problem
  2. Analyse the problem
  3. Develop  alternative solutions
  4. Make a decision

Everyone knew the difficulty factor faced by the batsmen, but our selectors chopped the bowlers but retained the same bunch of batsmen with Shehan Jayasuriya, Dushmantha and Akila joining the team.

At the beginning of match against Afgan match,  Angelow Mathews was visibly freightened,  he said, We forget the past and JUST GO AND HAVE FUN”.  Are you guys are paid to have fun? By looking at Angelow Mathews facial expressions at the commencement, I knew we do not have an aggressive leader and will lose the match.

In the past few years, Rangana Herath, Chandimal and Lakmal have delivered results, not Angelow.   As Rangana is semi retired, Lakmal should take over for the world cup preparation, if Chandimal is constantly either sick or vulnerable to other adverse situations.

  1. Hiranthe Says:

I totally agree. Lakmal is has a good leadership skills. He doesn’t want to show off.

We have given more respect to two Kusals and it resulted in them being over confident.

Others are all similar to “Eda Waela tours”. New faces always showing no confidence.

  2. Dilrook Says:

    Totally agree.

Matthews has ruined Lankan cricket. With just 1 year to go for the WC2019 it is not the time to “have fun” for professional cricketers.

Lakmal is the man to lead Sri Lanka we can all be proud of. Certainly not Matthews.

Losing to both Bangladesh and Afghanistan one after the other shows our cricket is the worst in the world.

  3. Dilrook Says:

    My Dear Dilrook
Thank you so much for this link. Where I am, I was witnessing the English telecast, this link was spot on. I am sure you, me and all cricketing fans are bleeding, whilst those who bet for Afgans have made millions. Are there SL bookies in the lot? virtual complain on Arjuna?
