රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කලවාන ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාශයේ පිහිටා ඇති , ලෝක උරුම සිංහරාජ වනාන්තරයේ පරිවාර වනාන්තරයක් වන කුඩුමීරිය වැසි වනාන්තරය විස රසායන ද්‍රව්‍යය යොදාගනිමින් විනාශ කරන බවට 2018.10.04 වන දින අප විසින් නිකුත් කල මාධ්‍ය නිවේදනය පිළිබඳව ඔබ මාධ්‍ය ආයතනයේ අවධානය යොමුකරීම පිළිබඳව වැසිවනාන්තර සුරකින්නන්ගේ සංවිධානයේ ස්තූතිය පිරිනමන අතර මේ වන විට එම රක්ෂිත කලාපයේ විනාශය පිිළිබඳව බොහෝ දෙනාගේ අවදානය යොමුව ඇත.
මෙම අනාවරයෙන් පසුව සමාජ ජාලා කණඩායමක් විසින් මෙම රක්ෂිත ප්‍රදේශය වෙත ගොස් ගම් වාසීන්ගේ අදහස් ඇතිව නිකුත් කල වීඩියෝවක් ඇති අතර එහි සබැඳියද මේ සමඟ අමුණා ඇත. එය ගමන් මෙම රක්ෂිත කලාපය සිදු කර ඇති හානිය තව තවත් මනාව අවබෝද කර ගත හැක.
අදාල බලධාරීන් මේ සම්බන්ධව කටයුතු කරන අයුරු ඉදිරියේදී ඔබ මාධ්‍ය අයතනය දැනවත් කිරීමට අප බලාපොරොත්තු වන අතර මේ පිළිබඳ වැඩිදුර තොරතුරු වැසි වනාන්තර සුරකින්නන්ගේ සංවිධානයේ කැඳවුම්කරු ජයන්ත විජේසිංහ (0777771348) මහතා ඇමතීමෙන් ලබාගත හැක.

Tears came to my eyes when I watched this video. It’s absolutely a crime which you cannot excuse or ignored at all. We haven’t seen a government so much in a disarray and leaders so corrupt and dishonest to it’s citizens like this. President should take the blame and the responsibility for all these destruction of forests,rivers and historic places in our blessed land no one else. When we have two spineless, habitual corrupt leaders leading the country what can we expect from them nothing except blame game. This horrible horrible government must go and a decent highly educated people must govern this country if not we can hear and see more destruction to our blessed land. Those who love this country dearly must get united and fight the evil yamapalanaya and send them packing as soon as possible if not we will not have a country to call home.

The British looked after our forests, then the UNP government also looked after our forests well.
But everything changed with 1956 Banda lead government.
Significant part of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve was destroyed by the Plywood Corporation started by Banda lead government.
