Dissolution of Parliament by the President

The President had done the best thing for the country by dissolving Parliament and going for the country. Arrogant Ranil, who scraped through in 2015 by getting a slight majority wrecked the country for 3 and a half years. With his western touch up and with his circle of colleagues from the upper class of Colombo he has no sense of national mind or love for the country. So no wonder, he and President Sirisena who comes from a typical country background are poles apart. A good example of Ranil’s irresponsibility is the Central Bank Bond scam by his friend Arjuna Mahendran. He made decisions as an autocrat. He completely ignored the fact that the President is elected by the country where as he is elected by an electorate and appointed as PM by the President.
Ranil and his UNP acolytes must have got a shock of their life with the dissolution of Parliament, as they know that they are not prepared to face the people after what they had done during the last three and a half years. At the interview with the Hindu Correspondent, he had said that he is willing to go back and work with the President. This is because having lost nearly 24 elections he knows that he can never win an election. With his defeat at the coming elections he will be ousted as leader of the UNP and will be in the ‘cold storage’.
Since he got the sack as PM he had been going after Foreign Envoys and pleading them to come to his rescue. As the President claimed he had used another trump card and I am sure the whole country backs him except the UNP torch bearers. The Foreign Envoys, NGO’s etc who were advising Ranil and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya must now be in a dilemma. The President had very cleverly tackled the critical state of the country giving a shock to Ranil and his henchmen. Ranil’s backers were saying that the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as PM was ‘unconstitutional’. Will the so called legal experts say that the dissolution of Parliament as well is ‘unconstitutional’ ? Will Ranil hang around Temple Trees even after Parliament is dissolved? He may, but after January 5th he may have to pack up and go !

Dear Dr. Sam,
I agree with you that on surface “The President had done the best thing for the country by dissolving Parliament”. MS has never expected this to happen. He wanted to ensure survival of his boot licking members who are going on praising him and taken the option to piggy back on MR and Pohottuwa’s popularity. If the newly appointed PM continued as he thought, the winners are SLFP ministers and MS while JO’s hard core members acting as just MP’s. This will also secure SLFP teams next election prospects.
Now the plan of MS has backfired and Run-nil opted not to run away as advised by his Western and Indian masters. The anticipated violence in the Parliament on 14th had forced MS to take this action, he has not even dreamed of as it will pave the way

Finally the best thing happened to Mother Lanka.
People have started thinking of Mother Lanka now. Thanks to Yahapalanaya for that. our young voters are having unshaken love towards Mother Lanka, not to any parties. This is a great win for Mother Lanka and her patriotic children.

RW and his MP for Kandy never did anything for the people of Kandy where we tried to meet Kirialla for the last 3 years and he was never there in Kandy for the people, doing deals elsewhere and people will never forget this at the next elections. There were so many burning questions in Kandy.Hope the new admiration will remove the absurd restrictions in Kandy and open the road by the Maligawa and Devales that is taking so much of Police resources and waste of our tax money. We don’t want byroads, bridges and tunnels but open the road that is chocking the people in Kandy.
New administration could take the relics to another place, somewhere in the South and even somewhere in the North Central province and mindful about the congestion that it will create.

We are glad and happy that after all the President of our beautiful nation acts like a true Sinhala son after staying like a prisoner for three and a half years under the unpatriotic clique of high rich UNPers. I think the country is going in the right direction under these two Sinhala Buddhist political stalwarts. Let’s rally behind them and help them to take our country in the right path with the blessings of Maharashtra Sanga. Happy days are in front and let’s work hard to bring good leaders instead of thieves, cutthroats and frogs who were there for so long. Let’s reject all the bad guys once and for all to make our society clean and useful. We need a government which serves every citizen alike irrespective of colour, race or religion. People needs three meals a day, good education for their children and a place to live also good health facilities to stay healthy etc. We expect a strong leadership with a strong government to tackle day to day problems of our people. Enemies will try every trick of the book to sabotage our forward march therefore be alert and watchful dear patriots.

MOVING FORWARD – WHAT IS TO BE DONE!
It is time the SLFP died its natural death and so too the UNP. These two geriatric political parties though brought into existence on lofty ideals have over the years failed to bring peace and prosperity to the citizens of Sri Lanka. The only thing that they did famously is to divide the Sinhala polity in the middle. This brought in the minority racists and religionists to the fray and made them kingmakers of Sri Lanka. The end result is for all to see – our past political history- the machinations and the deleterious effects of the doings of Chevanayakams, Amirthalingams, Sambandans, Thondamans, Ashroffs and now Hakeems and Baithuddeens!
After 70 years what the nation needs is time and space to move forward as one nation leaving behind the enmity and divisiveness. For this to happen the unity of the Sinhalese is paramount. Minority politics and their aspirations will never see daylight with only half of the Sinhalese agreeing. This is why the unity of the Sinhalese is of paramount importance for the good of all concerned.
What ailed Sri Lanka during the last 70 years is the constant demands of minority Shylocks asking for their pound of flesh and nothing else. Even after making the TNA with only 16 seats in the Parliament the main Opposition Party, did they have anything to do with the governance of the nation? They abstained from every parliamentary activity that had to do with the governance of Sri Lanka and only participated in legislating actions that would lead to the balkanization of Sri Lanka and in the end her destruction as an independent political entity in South Asia. Their main purpose of occupying the position of the Opposition was to prop up the unpopular, traitorous, mega-thief Ranil and his cohorts – now famously referred to as the “Butterflies”!
And so it goes for the Islamists spreading Wahabbism throughout the length and breadth of SrI Lanka. Just at the eleventh hour when there was a clear need for ousting mega-thief Ranil they left to Mecca indicating that they will return to enjoy the spoils!
It is time, all those well-meaning Tamils and Muslims leave the divisive politics and join the mainstream to achieve their realistic aspirations. Division of the country into fiefdoms or giving land and police powers to Eelamists is no way to achieve lasting peace in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka simply does not have space nor the security measures necessary to entertain such wishful thinking!
It is time, Sinhalese of all hues, be they UNP, SLFP, Buddhist or Christian unite behind Pohottuwa to take the country away from the cannibalistic politics of today and towards prosperity. It is time the Sinhalese demanded from Pohottuwa that it cannot be ‘ Politics as Usual’ as it used to be. It is time they got rid of the useless riff-raff, the traitorous, self-serving and the bribe-taker lot among them and move forward with only those who can be trusted to make way for progress. Pohottuwas must leave space only for the best in the SLFP, the UNP and those among minorities to join.
Other nations such as Malaysia and Singapore sorted similar problems right at the beginning of their independence from Colonial Powers. This is why these countries prosper and Sri Lanka not!
UNLESS AND UNTIL THE SINHALESE UNITE AS ONE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO THE MINORITIES. THIS IS THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL TRUTH BEHIND POLITICS IN SRI LANKA. This is what ailed Sri Lanka for the last 70 years. It is only the United Sinhalese who can accommodate those peaceful intentions of the minorities and take the nation towards progress! All take heed!
Time is of the essence, let us not bungle it this time! All patriots, be they UNP or SLFP, who wish well for Mother Lanka, unite behind Pohottuwa! The wolves of the so-called International Community are the door to make Sri Lanka another Libya, Iraq, and Syria! United we can stand, divided certainly it is oblivion, death, and destruction a la Libya, Iraq and Syria!

At least one good thing happened. Sri lanka is the only country who gives professional thieves a pension and 71 thieves lost the pension because of it.
I am beginning to think some mad president sometimes may be good for the country than the seasoned thieves.
May be Mervyn Silva is better.
