UPFA MP Nimal Lanza today questioned whether MPs Kabir Hashim and Abdul Haleem were sworn in as Ministers because the probe on Easter Sunday attacks had been completed or whether the one month deadline they gave was over.

Mr. Lanza was referring to the one month deadline which the Muslim Ministers gave the government to probe the Easter Sunday attacks.

We would like to know whether one month is over or the investigations have been completed. We are not against them accepting the ministerial portfolios,” Mr. Lanza said.

The MP said he was referring to an mobile alert with regard to Kabir Hashim and Abdul Haleem accepting ministerial portfolios once again.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said it will not be possible to focus on the business in parliament if MPs raise questions on every mobile alert they get.

Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella said appointing of Ministers is not a duty of Parliament. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

This appears to be a deal with Mahanayakas. Immediately after resigning he made a bee-line to somewhere (after the cancellation of loans by Japan for Central expressway). Then came the appeal by Mahanayakas for all of them to rejoin which is surprising given that they were all accused for masterminding the genocide on 21/4.

So, is everything including Central Expressway, hunky dory?.

I deplore the attitude of mahanayakas’ of being insensitive to the plight of a section of our population who are still grieving or suffering due to injuries. Though I am not a Buddhist (as signified by my name) I have strong connections to it. Surely national reconciliation is not the reason for them to intervene. If Central Expressway is the reason, they should find out why it has stopped; perhaps it is due to mismanagement, extravagant expenditure and the mess created due to environment degradation which was even highlighted by none other than the prez himself.

What contribution has this minister made towards Buddhism?. He was even connected with the people who damaged statures and are having infighting among themselves for leadership, but slowly building enclaves that are encroaching Sinhala Buddhist areas.

He is citing the invitation extended by mahanayakas as the reason for coming back.

Why business did the Mahanayakas have appeal to the Muslim ministers to rejoin ?. They resigned on their own. What they should do is to leave politics to the to the so called politicians, advise them and appeal to all Buddhists and the Sinhalese to to unite. They also need to work toward safeguarding and propagating Buddhism and the Buddhists in addition to eliminating corruption beginning fro the politicians. Muslims as we can see will look after their interests. They get ample support from the Muslim countries.
