This incompetent regime must stop misusing the justice system for political ends.

All those cases cannot be prosecuted in 3 months. It is game over.

    Just give up.

    @Dilrook

You are wrong. AG is working for president and president only , not for public , who pay his salary.
President want to prove his candidate is CLEAN before the elections.

Most important thing before the electorate is to get rid of this UnPatriotic Party and its lackeys at the earliest. They have done enough damage to Sri Lanka already. It is unfortunate that the essential problems of the people have to be reminded for the electorate at least part of it, is ever forgetful and does not know what they really want.

As things go the educated and the rich idiots want to convey that what is most important is democracy, human rights and freedom of speech etc. The vast majority of the middle class and the poor are looking at improvements to their living conditions. They are suffering enough from high-interest rates, taxes and imports of food items previously produced locally etc. and the unimpeded corruption. Right now there is extreme high expenditure on politicians using public funds to promote themselves.

AG has become yet another bootlicker for Sirisena – the most unreliable politician in Sri Lanka today. His hate and selfishness have brought Sri Lanka to what it is today. He shielded the Bond Scammers, he prevented MR from becoming PM in Aug 2105 by his last-minute utterances. He is a ‘snake in the grass’ for all those who try to associate with him.

It is the end of the road to the UNP, the JVP and of course to Hateful and Hated Sirisena. If he still thinks that he has the votes of the 1.5 million who voted his candidates in Feb 2018 at the Local Government Elections, he is living in Fools Paradise. It is far better him todo ‘some good’ at the end of his disastrous presidency and take on a few more foreign visits so that at least he adn his wife can enjoy the trappings of Presidency for a few more days.

One has to observe unfolding drama relentlessly to understand what is happening. One cannot forget all incidents since last election.

    Questions
    1. Has Sirisena criticized his selection as candidate ever (2015-todate) ? He has criticized the king many times.
    2. Has his choice criticized Sirisena ever during the same time ?

If you love the country you have to watch out both, but when you TRUST politicians, you make mistakes.

I don’t trust ANYONE. That is why I say now it is the time to make OUR DEMANDS, not the jubilation and praising. With or without our support winner will win, we will NOT be able to change minds or votes. But with our DEMANDS if published country wide may make a difference and hence a huge benefit for the country.

  5. Dilrook Says:

JVP has a surprisingly large attendance at Galle Face green.

One striking feature is the total disassociation with racism. This means JVP has no chance of making an impact. But it also means SLPP will be pushed further into Sinhala racism. JVP is likely to take the bulk of anti-TNA and anti-SLMC minority vote if this goes to the north, east and upcountry.

There is a huge opportunity for a Sinhala party to contest on a strong platform of abolishing 13A. They can win sufficient percentage of votes that can be turned into a dozen MPs at the parliamentary election to follow. Unless JHU joins them, this is the end of the JHU.

  6. Lionel Says:

JVP has announced their candidate. Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
    Huuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!! (From around the world)
This shows the bankruptcy of the Sri Lankan politics.

  7. Randeniyage Says:

My statement ( comment 2, above ) is reinforced ! Sirisena will be popular man of ALL , Aappa will taste better !

AG says CID reports on Thajudeen and Lasantha murders are inconclusive

    August 23, 2019 06:14 pm

Attorney General Dappula de Livera has informed the Acting IGP to refrain from submitting inconclusive reports in respects to the high-profile cases including the murders of Wazim Thajudeen and Lasantha Wickramatunga.

He stated this in a letter to Acting IGP C. Wickramaratne in connection to the reports submitted by Sri Lanka Police to the AG’s Department on several high-profile cases currently being investigated.

The letter states that the reports submitted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to the Acting IGP appear to be inconclusive and emphasizes that this has resulted in an unsatisfactory situation.

Therefore the Attorney General instructs the Acting IGP to refrain from submitting inconclusive reports, to appoint senior officers to oversee the respective investigations expeditiously and efficiently while directing him to only submit completed investigative reports hereafter.

On August 16, the Attorney General instructed the Acting IGP to expedite the conclusion of police investigations into six high profile cases including the assassination of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge, the killing of 17 aid workers in 2006, the murder of Sri Lankan rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr, the abduction and disappearance of 11 Tamil youths.

The Attorney General had instructed the Acting IGP to conclude investigations into the cases without delay and to submit the completed files to the AG’s Department for the filing of charges.

The reports were handed over to the Attorney General by the Acting Inspector General of Police yesterday.
