SLFP to nominate own presidential candidate

he Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will be fielding a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, stated MP Weerakumara Dissanayake.
According to the parliamentarian, the General Secretary of the party, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara has informed the Elections Commission on the decision.

A good decision. Hope they will actually contest the presidential election. Everything Sirisena says is false. He is a total liar. Nothing he says can be taken seriously.
Otherwise the SLFP will become zero at the 2020 parliamentary election. SLFP must have at least 10 or 20 seats as in 1977.
The party has to get back to basics to remain relevent. The last election when SLFP had its identity was the 1988 presidential election. That is the position the SLFP must take to survive. Since then CBK ruined SLFP policies. The key is a strong anti-west and pro-east policy. Those Bandaranaike policies have at least 5% support today. Keep drug dealers, murderers, businessmen, foreigners and other felons out.
However, SLFP’s election fortunes will be restricted mainly to Gampaha, Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura and Galle Districts where it can win around 10% of the vote at most. It also has some minority support far more than the SLPP in Jaffna and Batticaloa Districts particularly.

Take my word – Sirisena and Gotabhaya is ONE TEAM. I said this many times but based on what I have seen fro last 4 years.
I too say “He is a total liar. Nothing he says can be taken seriously.”. A new special hell is being constructed to rehabilitate him and many famous others who not only have convinced thousands of very good and innocent people ( unfortunately lacking wisdom) that they are “patriots” but their patriotism come last after, my family, my wealth, my pride, my reputation, my fake ‘honesty’. They all do not hesitate to even kill to protect all the “my”s. I hope those innocent people will be able to see them in their death bed confessing lies and crimes.

That says it all. There is nothing more to add.
Indeed they have convinced thousands of very good people. But I would not call such people ‘innocent’ because ‘lacking wisdom’ or IGNORANCE is not innocence. Innocence is a state of PURITY. Innocent people can do no wrong. But these ‘innocent’ people are holding the country to ransom. Such people have minds to know but do not want to know; they have eyes to see but do not want to see; and they have ears to hear but do not want to hear. Their ignorance is a CULPABLE ignorance; a self inflicted ignorance. Such people are Ostriches hiding their heads because they do not want to know, to see, and to hear.
These ‘very good people’ can be called ‘BELIEVERS’. They have sold their SOULS to the ”MY’S” (or did you mean MICE? Because these ”MYS” hide by day and steal by night!). These ”MYS” can also be called DRACULAS. They are royals in appearance, but blood-sucking is their real nature.

Burma has finally agreed to investigate possible war crimes of its military activity recently. This puts pressure on Sri Lankan government to do the same. I fear three things.
1. What happened to the STF in 2007, SF in 2010 and to scores since 2015 might be repeated against other war heroes. These war heroes were needlessly punished.
2. What happened in the cases of Batalanda, Sooriyakanda, Matale, Rathupaswala, Lasantha, Thajudeen, Keith, etc. will be repeated using war heroes. This also exposes our war heroes to investigations.
3. Lawyers representing accused war heroes in trials will be threatened or killed by politicians. They want easy scapegoats (sadly most war heroes are not very educated people). If the scapegoat is saved, it comes after them! So they are determined to send someone to the Hague and save themselves.
The next Constitution must separate the military and the police from politicians. No politician should be allowed to instruct the military. Overall decisions should be passed by parliament and the military should be given complete freedom to do what is necessary. They know what to do! There is no need for politicians to tell them.
Sadly no “patriot” thinks about the military. They only think of their politicians.

People who wants to be under a UNP president for the next 4 years, this is good news. Mates, let us be real and practical here. If we surely know, Nagananda can’t win this time, UNP is horrible and Anura Kumara is hopeless, who should we support? Majority of Sri Lankans will give the right answer this question at the right time.

Lionel, if Naga cannot win, if the UNP man is horrible, if AK the JVP man is hopeless, then by elimination the only one left is the SLPP man Gota. Is that right Lionel?
The question nevertheless is: should we support the only one left just because he is the only one left?
Because one is the only one left, is he necessarily the Right one Left!!! Or are you suggesting that the one left is the better of a bad lot? In yet other words that the one left is a Hobsons’ choice!
I dare say we are compelled to look Right and Left for our man, because when we look straight ahead of us, right into the eyes of the future, there is NO ONE.
The only certainty is that expressed in the pithy Sinhala saying: however much you wash ASH in MILK, ASH will never turn WHITE.
According to your calculations the majority of Sri Lankans will give the answer at the Right Time by choosing the one left, but unfortunately though the time may be right, the answer may not be so.
The positive feature of our present condition is that you and I and everyone else can express our opinions without fear of being killed, abducted, or forced to go into exile.
